Hospital Care reviews in Palatine

All of these doctors are connected in case you need tests. They are always in a 5 to 7 mile radius. So you don't have to take the day off and travel. All of the staff and doctors are friendly. They are topnotch.

My son is alive because of them. The entire hospital staff treats us like gold. They are absolutely wonderful I cannot say enough nice things about them. They really take good care of my son and I would highly recommend them. The children's hospital is also great! Their patient relations is fantastic, I also had my hip replacement there and was impressed with how personable and terrific their care was.

The wait to get into the ER at Northwest Community Hospital from the waiting room was pretty quick the first time. The second time not so quick, it actually was really slow. The first time went really well. The doctor who was on duty really took his time and made sure about everything. He double and triple checked everything.
The second time we went was absolutely horrible and we actually ended up walking out while my wife was in the hospital bed and waiting. The nurses were actually standing at the nurses station talking about their day and going to the club that night and there was no one else in the ER. The would play the song that use to close the show "ER" when an ambulance would come in and they just sat there and ignored it. They just stood at the nurses station continuing their conversation. The doctor eventually came in almost 45 minutes later, which is okay if they were busy. At the same time they weren't even busy. She comes in and says "I don't know what I can do for you." My wife was like what you mean you don't know what you are going to do. The doctor said she had already reviewed the file from the last time we were there and I don't know what you expect me to do this time. My wife was in excruciating back pain, to the point she wanted to vomit both times. My wife said she needed some pain medicine and anti nausea at least and was told they weren't going to give them to her and that she needed to go see her doctor. My wife was like what am I supposed to do it is like 2 in the morning. In the end she gave us some pain meds. They tried giving her oxycodone and she can't take that it makes her really sick. They tried giving it to her and my wife said she can't take it. The doctor than said she didn't know what to give her for pain medication. My wife said I don't know just give me a muscle relaxer or something. It was all a muscle spasm and she has an inverted vertebrae in her back. What was happening was that the muscles were clenching and pushing the vertebrae into her stomach. Eventually they gave her a muscle relaxer and asked for an MRI or something. My wife is a medical student and knows what she needs and the doctor was treating her like she was an idiot. She knows how to treat her back problem, because she has had it since she was a little girl. Once she got the prescription for the muscle relaxer she said just give me the freakin' prescription and I am leaving. They were like no we need to discharge you. My wife said no give me the prescription and I am calling the director of the hospital tomorrow. Now give me the prescription and I am gone. They said they couldn't give it to her until they evaluated her. She said screw you and we walked out. She called the director and they did nothing about it. Not a damn thing.

The first time I took my wife she had been vomiting at home, I got her calmed down and in the car. I pre called the ER and said my wife is vomiting and I am bringing her in I need you to have something ready for her. When we got in there they told her to stop drinking the Sprite, but that was the only thing keeping her stomach calm. What is was was that they didn't want her throwing stuff up. They wanted her to drive heave and not vomit more. So I took away the Sprite and she is sitting there begging for it and I told her they said No. At first they forgot to give her the anti nausea. They decided to give her a prescription strength Tylenol and were about to give it to her, but my wife said she was going to just throw it up she needed the anti nausea medicine first. The nurse was like oh yeah that's right. The doctor stood there and was contemplating what was going on. Instead of leaving the room he actually stood there and talked it out with her. He ordered one set of x-rays and didn't really see anything. He kept looking it over and said lets do a second set of x-rays. They did I think a total of 8 x-rays around her back area and he really reviewed it. He said at this point she was going to have to follow up with her doctor, because they couldn't really order a CT scan, because it would have been 4-5 hours before they could do it. That would have been the soonest someone could get in. The doctor that night actually ended up calling her orthopedic surgeon and he made an emergency appointment to see her.

After the second time and the bad experience the orthopedic surgeon ordered a CT scan for her or maybe it was an MRI.

If I was dying I may go in there, but even then I would be skeptical.
