Scott was very thorough and extremely knowledgable. Following the initial inspection, he provided us with a well-written report complete with pictures and diagrams. We brought him back for a reinspection at the final walk through on the day of closing and discovered that the seller had not done the agreed upon repairs. Much to our dismay, the seller presented misleading and fake invoices in an attempt to fool us into thinking the work was done. With only a couple of hours until closing, Scott wrote a complete and detailed report (with pictures!) that gave us the ammo we needed to get money back from the sellers. His services are invaluable, and we would recommend him to anyone needing a home inspection.

This 30 day house inspection wonder was a joke. There was no professional inspection performed. The inspection he preformed a child could of done. Case in points: Never walked thru the crawl space to inspect the sump pump or the fact the master bath toilet pipe was missing its inspection cover. This was due to the fact the previous owners were doing a rodding of the sewer as there was no clean out pipe. They stripped the threads of the inspection pipe cover pipe running the rodder. Rodded just enough to pass an inspection. And to think the previous owners were Palatine police people. If a real inspector had been on board we would not of purchased the house. 2 weeks after move in the sever backed up. Master bath Toilet and bathtub sewer stuff in it. $10k to rod, clean and install new sewer pipes and a above ground clean out from the foundation out. This character cost us $10K. If I could I would of sued this person. The roof we were told good by him was good for another 5 more years. The roof leaked the first winter. New roof $8,500 in 2015 resulting in 80% of the roof panels replaced as they were so dry rotted. The roofers stated we were lucky the winter of 2014 did not result in snow in the living room, family room, dining room and garage. The washing machine PVC piping in the crawl was out of code. 3/4" should of been 2". The pvc pipe terminated at the main cast iron sewer pipe and the joint was leaking. And no venting. We had floods. All new plumbing in the crawl to fix this. The sump pump was wired incorrectly with the backup pump working as the main pump. Had the mfg. "The Protector" totally rebuild the system to specs. We were told the system was so obviously in error just by inspecting it !!! The battery was dead also. The furnace de-humidifier was broken and had to be replaced. The chimney mortar at the base had major cracks and needed to be fixed. This character is incompetent and not worth the $550.00 charged. He came not from the housing industry and had no prior construction experience. Just another "take the course. Get certified" and fool the public that he is a qualified inspector. There should be a law against these types or at least being able to sue them. This would level the playing field to competent players. We trusted this person as we were new to home ownership. I detest being cheated and most of all "Trust" being compromised. Anything this impostor may respond to is just hot air. And he should be ashamed of himself. I wonder how these types sleep at night.

I called around 7:15 a.m. expecting to get an answering machine.  I was very surprised and pleased that the business owner answered even though it was outside of normal hours.  I explained our request for a sewer line inspection with a camera, and gave her the seller's realtor's phone number so they could coordinate the appointment.  This was done immediately and relayed back to me.  The tech called me from the appointment and explained that access to the sewer was in the crawl space, not in the yard.  Because of this difficulty, the original charge quoted to me was incorrect.  I gave my permission to proceed.  After the inspection,  the tech called again with the results of the inspection, made a recommendation for the future (indicating this was not urgent), and told me I would receive an email with the receipt and his inspection report by the end of the day via email, which I did.  I was extremely impressed with AAA Walsh & Sons availability, responsiveness and communication, and I felt their pricing was extremely fair.  I will definitely make them my first call for any future plumbing service.

Bob was there on time. He was very thorough and took the time during the inspection to explain things to me. He is very knowledgeable and professional.
The detailed report was provided same day.
I have bought several houses and had inspections--This was the best  I've had.
I highly recommend Domicile Consulting for anyone needing home inspection!

The company did very well in terms of such things as responsiveness and punctuality, but the technical competency of the inspector and thoroughness of his report were sub-par.  Specifically, the inspection report only seemed to mention obvious issues that I had already discussed with the gentleman prior to the inspection.

Mike answered our call and met us at the property the next day for the inspection. He came early to the appointment and got to work right away. He went to each section of the house from exterior to interior and was very detailed. He explained things as we went thru the inspection. We would definitely recommend him to others as well as use him in the future.

Overall we're extremely happy with the service provided.  There was a small scheduling snafu at the beginning which he caught right away and called us that night to get the time straightened out so not a problem at all.  He showed up on time and spent several hours inspecting the house.  Fortunately there was very little wrong with this house but it was relatively new construction owned by a conscientious owner so we were hoping that there wasn't going to be too much to find.
What I most appreciated was he spent the time to explain what he was looking for, why things were important and what the normal remedy is.  In addition, he spent time to explain some features of our house which we weren't familiar with such as the house being wired to allow for an easy installation of a generator, etc.
He was extremely professional and enjoyable to talk to -- important given inspections can last several hours.

We picked Larry after talking to a few inspectors.  He had availability and good reviews, and seemed willing and eager to take a look at the house for us on short notice.  He was also reasonably priced.
We asked him to show up earlier than he normally would and he said that would be no problem.  When we arrived at the house, Larry was already there taking some pictures of the outside of the house for his report.  I then followed Larry around for the next three hours as he explained what he was checking, what he would fix if anything, and how certain systems work (heater, humidifier, sump, etc).  He was patient with my questions and even helped me get an idea of things like "What would you do about this downspout?". This process what great for me as a first-time home-buyer.   It felt as if Larry was looking at the home for himself.
Larry did not hesitate to get into the crawlspace, attic, and up on the roof.  He was polite, focused, and thorough during the entire inspection.
The next morning we had a full 30+ page report with pictures from the house, highlighted issues he would have fixed or looked at, and a nice summary page of issues.   This quick turnaround was important to us as we did the inspection 3 days into our attorney/inspection period.  We used his report to ask the sellers to make a few fixes Larry noted, which they agreed to do.
I would definitely recommend Larry to a friend and we will use his services if we need them in the future.
One sidenote is Larry does not provide radon testing himself, but had a colleague who he uses.  Those services were scheduled  and handled by Larry and we had those results back promptly for a reasonable charge as well.  CHI + Radon was still less expensive than some of the other inspectors we talked to.

Bob was there when I pulled up to the house.  Bob was extremely detailed in his inspection.  Not only was he detailed, but he was communicating his findings to me throughout the inspection and explaining them in a way that I was able to understand what the issue was, what may have caused it, what would need to be done to replace/repair, and what types of consequences you could have if repairs/replacements were not performed.  I received the inspection report the next day and most of the information noted had already been verbalized to me the day before.  Bob answered each of my questions with thoughtful, patient answers, including helping me to understand what type of labor/costs would be involved in each of the issues identified.    We ultimately chose to walk away from the house given the issues noted.  The information that Bob gave me has equipped me with red flags and other items to look for as we continue our house hunting.  I will definitely hire Bob again when we find the home we want to purchase.

I was thrilled with Mark's work. I actually used Mark for one home inspection and one condo inspection. Each inspection took approximately three hours. His first inspection gave me the information I needed to walk away from buying the first home. He found widespread mold in the attic. Before reaching the attic, Mark crawled through every part of the house he could fit into. If there was a problem, it wasn't going to be missed for lack of trying!

Since I'm not a DIY person, I appreciated the fact that Mark was willing to translate contractor lingo into something other humans could understand. He didn't make me feel stupid because I don't work on homes for a living. His inspection report was very detailed and easy to understand. Since he knew that I had a tight deadline, I received an electronic copy the next morning.

When I decided to look at a condominium instead, I knew I wanted Mark to do the inspection. Thankfully, that inspection went much smoother. However, I still have his inspection report as a punch list of items I want to fix over time.

Since I was a "repeat customer", Mark also gave me a slight price break on the second inspection. When I lived in Indianapolis, I'd had the experience of dealing with a home inspector that didn't catch items that should've been caught. I realize any home can have problems. However, after Mark's inspection, I felt I had a realistic idea of what I was buying. That's all you can ask of a home inspector.
