Appliance Repair reviews in Oswego

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Price is a little steep. They are there if you need them. I think they diagnosed the project very quickly and get the job done in a timely fashion. They know their parts. The project they did for me was quick, hour and half.

  • Called Mr Appliance a little after 9 am on Saturday 6/4/2016 to get a nonworking side by side refrigerator repaired. Although the company website indicated that they closed at noon on Saturdays, I was told that someone would be out to our home between 11 am and 1 pm. The technician (I think his name was Victor) arrived about 1125 am. He wore booties over his shoes when in the house, and brought in two mats to protect the floor (one mat to put his tools on and one to roll the fridge onto). He was efficient and started work immediately. Victor was pleasant and explained what he was doing and why. In this case refrigerator repair was not cost effective, and we elected not to have it repaired. We appreciated the fast response which allowed us to shop and purchase a new refrigerator later that day.

  • We had a series of miscellaneous "handyman"-type tasks that had accumulated.  No single task was particularly big or complex, but it was all work that exceeded our expertise and equipment.  Kym and her team were extraordinarily responsive and got us an immediate quote that was so reasonable that we didn't even bother comparison-shopping.  She came on time, performed all of the requested repairs quickly, plus completed a few previously-unannounced tasks on the spot in response to our request.  The work was superb, the company was highly responsive and professional, and the price was very reasonable.  All-in, the cost came to $115 for about three hours of work, inclusive of supplies, equipment and labor.  In that time, Kym completed seven or eight discrete tasks and consulting with us on a handful of other jobs.

  • The serviceman came the same day I called and had the potential parts needed based on our troubleshooting conversation over the phone.  He was on time, worked fast and gave me some pointers to keep things in good running order.  I was very pleased.

  • I scheduled Bob to come out to check my washing machine. He gave me a two hour window 10am-12pm. I called at 12:10pm and no answer so I left a message. I waited until 12:20 pm and then had to leave the house. If he would have called and said he was running late I wou have waited. Very disappointed after reading the good reviews!

  • It went very well. He's very personable and very considerate. He knew what the problem was, got the part within an hour, and now the fridge works. Every time I've worked with him, such as when our dryer wasn't drying, he's been very honest and reasonably priced.

  • First of all, the phone was answered quickly and professionally. Secondly, they got a repairman out on the same day I called for help. Most importantly, the repairman came within the timeframe promised; was very professional; quickly diagnosed the problem; had the necessary parts to repair my refrigerator/freezer; explained what went wrong in easy to understand terms; told me what to watch for in the future if the problem recurs; was neat and tidy throughout his work; and completed the repair and accepted payment (which I felt was totally reasonable) all within 30-45 minutes. I'd use this company again in a heartbeat.

  • I am disappointed with them. I used them for 20 years when I lived in Cincinnati Ohio, I was very happy with them. I think that is has been awful. Back in 2012, I called them and told them that everything was thawing and it was not coming on. The guy brought no parts with him. Then he said that he had to go order the part. It came to my door and then the guy came back. The first two times he came out he was here for 30 seconds and charged me $100, then the guy told me that there was a protection plan, so I got that. If the refrigerator/freezer acts up again, there is supposed to be no cost for service or parts. It started making a very loud noise. I went on line and filled out the information and I had a protection plan. If you have a protection plan, it does not go any further and let you know that you have to call a 800 number. I called the number and they told me that no one was available for a week. While I was on the phone, she said that it was going to be 8 days; I told her that when I was on line, it said that someone would come out the next day. She told me to go online and do it that way and someone would come out the next day. I changed it to no protection plan and I was able to get someone out the next day. If you buy the protection plan, you are not going to get good service. They do not value you or treat you like a loyal customer. The guy came out and even though I described exactly what the problem was, where it was and what it sounded like and he did not have the part. He said that he is going to drive to Aurora, come back, and put it in. I do not know if I am going to have to pay for it, because it says that for disposable parts I am going to have to pay for. I have just had it with them. It has been a hassle, 4 visits for 2 simple things. I would not recommend them to anybody. I thought the price for the protection plan was all right, but they do not treat you like customer with it, because they do not get any money for that call. I do not think that the price is unfair; it is the service that is unfair. I put in everything and there was no response. I put everything in their site and I get a message saying thank you we are doing our best. They gave me a robot call and said that they would be here first thing this morning and they were. I told the guy that I was very frustrated with this really loud noise that has been going on all week, and he just stood there and did not say a word, like I am so sorry that this has happened, nothing. I will not go back to Sears for anything. I would not use them again.

  • The lower support bracket on my 20+ year old refrigerator broke Sunday evening, just before the 4th of July. Initially, we couldn't close the door! Having gotten it closed, we were understandably reluctant to open it again. We were scheduled to be out of town starting early Tuesday, July 2nd. The 1st two places I reached couldn't promise anyone would come out before Friday -- if they could find the part. Monday morning, I got smart(er), and checked Angie's list for recommendations. The 1st one I called from here never returned my call. Bob was my next try; he called within the hour. I explained to him about the refrigerator (he knew immediately what the problem was), and that he would only have 24 hours to help me -- if he could. He promised to call back shortly after finding out if he could get the part.
He called back shortly to advise that he had located the part, and could be out late Tuesday afternoon; the bill would be $135. I agreed readily, as that was a lot less expensive than a new refrigerator, and I still had to leave town Tuesday (better late than not at all). He arrived within minutes of our scheduled time, and had the door fixed within 20 minutes. He handed me a bill for only $95, explaining the part was less expensive that he originally thought! While he was there, I asked him if he could repair our 20 year-old range-top (at a future date). He actually spent 20 minutes taking some of it apart to see if he could pinpoint the problem, made some recommendations to tide us over, gave us the part numbers (in case we wanted to effect repairs ourselves) -- and didn't charge for the time and effort!
I can't say enough good things about him, and would call him again in the future in a heartbeat.

  • Bob was great in explaining everything to my wife. She loved dealing with him. She felt he wasn't in the least condescending and felt she learned in the process. Our dryer has an indicator which is supposed to indicate a problem with the exhaust, but that never indicated a problem. Still Bob maintained that this was the problem and recommended someone to work with to get the problem addressed and how to work with them to get the most cost effective service to address the situation.
As it turned out, I was able to do the service (once I pulled up a few boards of the deck since the vent was underneath) We cleared out the vent and everything is working just as Bob said it would.
