Concrete Driveway Installation reviews in Orland Park

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Started out slow due to weather and problems on another job but once the job got started moved along it took longer than I thought but end result was good. They did a good job on the cleanup end of the job

  • Once they came over and gave me a driveway quote I found out they also did concrete work, even though they don't really talk about concrete all that much on their website, but they do concrete work as well. It's pretty much the same comments as on the asphalt driveway. The company owner, Pat, is very easy to work with, and had some good ideas as how to handle some minor details that I thought were going to be difficult.

  • Affordable Residential Concrete does a great job. Great response to my questions about a price and service. The owner is always helpful and gets right back to me . I recommend this busines to everyone.

  • The job was done with few delays (mostly rain delays that were not the contractors fault).  The job was completed to my satisfaction and 2 of my neighbors hired them shortly afterward to replace their driveways.
However, the concrete that was used was of poor quality and within less than a year my driveway started showing large popouts. The other 2 neighbors also have the same problem.  After 2 years, there were dozens of popouts larger than a quarter.  Now over 80 pock marks on the driveway.
The contractor blames the concrete supplier for the poor quality.  Nonetheless, driveways should not start disintegrating in a matter of a few years.   I went to court and received a $8000 judgement against the company for the front driveway (the back patio did not develop popouts as it was poured from a different batch and is stamped concrete).
The contractor has not made an attempt to satisfy the judgement, nor did he even bother to appear at court after multiple subpoenas.  The contractor does good work but didn't use quality concrete on the 3 jobs that he did in our neighborhood.

  • Steve responded promptly and gave me a very detailed bid. He talked me out of replacing our front stoop and suggested that instead he would recommend power washing and sealing as a better alternative. I appreciated his honesty and the driveway was completed today. I would highly recommend Sammson Concrete.

  • Steve, Brian and the crew were courteous, professional and very knowledgable. Concrete work turned out excellent! Would definitely recommend their services for everyone looking to have any type of concrete work done.

  • "Paul Zarlengo and I stayed in touch during the entire process. Time between ripping up the old driveway and laying a new one usually runs about two weeks. This is to let the ground dry out. As a result of the continued rain though the process ran about 1.5 months which wasn't a problem at all. Only after John was confident the ground underneath was dry did he schedule the new driveway.
Note the cost was more because they ripped up the old cement driveway with the old asphalt.

  • Tom was extremely responsive and helpful from the very first phone call.  He spent nearly 45 minutes with me on the phone talking me through the project and the multiple questions I had.  I sent him pictures of the job that evening and the next morning he had an initial quote for me.  By far the most thorough and responsive of the providers I got quotes from.
About a week later I decided to go with Tom and he came out to my house to walk through the job with me.  I had some difficult elements that made the project a little more of a challenge.  The biggest being that I was getting water in my basement and would need to have a waterproofing company come in and seal the wall after the demolition.  Tom was more than accommodating to that request and made several other adjustments to the project to move water away from the house.  Tom is clearly a perfectionist when it comes to water, grading, and drainage.  He spent a lot of time talking to me about potential solutions and ways he could help.  Other problems included an asphalt/concrete mixed driveway and gate posts imbedded in the existing concrete.  Tom handled all of those issues without any problems.  We agreed upon the final cost and a date to begin the project.
Tom's quote was not the lowest, in fact it was the highest, but Tom is the only company that walked through all of the potential issues and came with solutions.  His helpfulness and expertise was a huge help and it was all provided before I made the final decision.  It was that level of service that put him over the edge.
The work was scheduled to be completed in late April but then the rain came.  We lost about a week to the rain.  At this point I was getting nervous because I had already booked a water-proofing company to come in and seal the foundation wall.  Tom agreed to come out and his crew worked in the rain to clear the driveway against the house to allow the water-proofing team to come in and do their work.
After that the demolition continued as much as it could between rain storms.  It took about 2 weeks to finally have the demolition fully done.  From the there the blocking, grading began.  Tom called me nearly everyday with updates and explanations and on a couple of occasions physically walked me around the property explaining all of the work.
Finally with the rain behind us concrete could be poured.  I happened to be home the first pour day.  Tom's crew is professional and dedicated.  They spent hours smoothing and finishing the first pour and it looked great.  Of course the rains came back so it was another week before we could do the final two pours.
Tom once again worked with me to explain everything that had been done.  He even walked my neighbors through everything as they also had a lot of questions.  The village inspector came and said Tom had "gone above and beyond" what needed to be done and noted the high level of excellence.
While the project took much longer than anticipated due to the weather, Tom and his crew never rushed anything and took time to do things right.
The finished project looks amazing and I couldn't be happier.
Tom will be my first call for any future projects big or small, because I know he'll tell me exactly what I need to do and the best way to do it.

  • We ended up going with somebody else but it was either them or somebody else. They were very nice and very good. We liked them very much but we went with somebody else that a friend had recommended. They were very professional.

  • Our experience with Sammson Concrete was exceptional.  Steve, the owner, along with his son Brian and the rest of the crew did an excellent job. Steve was very responsive to any questions or concerns and always responded almost immediately via phone, text and/or email.  We were totally impressed with the level of customer service...Sammson Concrete customers REALLY do come first! Steve went out of his way a few times to help us address unrelated property issues, again providing an added level of customer service. They were always on time, arriving when they said they would arrive. Steve kept us informed throughout the entire 3 day process.  We were able to go to work each day and leave the crew at our home without worry.  Steve is a man of commitment and truly kept his commitments to price and quality.  The crew cleaned up the property after each day of work and were sensitive to our adjoining neighbor's property.  We highly recommend Sammson Concrete!
