    The Real Seal LLC
RealSeal installed new drainage tiles and a sump pump in my approx. 950 sq. ft. basement. They also installed a tough waterproof membrane around that periphery. In order to do this, they had to cut out the bottom 2-4 ft of the drywall and studs in 2 rooms down there, and dispose of the debris. The ONLY reason I'm not giving them 100% on quality is that, while replacing the cement and rebuilding the slab for my laundry tub, they did not make the slab level, which has resulted in adjustments that are difficult to make, as my laundry tub is extremely heavy and difficult to nudge. Other than the problem with the slab, the workers were professional in their manner, and it appears that RealSeal has equipped them with very good gear and conditions; they seemed to actually enjoy their work. Jose, the foreman, was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions. And Dan, the salesman, was also great in answering my many, many questions. The video on RealSeal's website was a good resource for me in envisioning the project. I would definitely recommend RealSeal to others.

    Rob West Plumbing
Rob West evaluated our situation and recommended first we scope out the sewer line, where we found tree roots every 3 feet where the pipes joined. He recommended first we rebuild the catch basin, and then jett out the line, cleaning out any construction cement. He let me watch the video and explained to me what I was seeing. I learned where the tree roots were concentrated along the line, marked those spots above, made an appointment for the next week to begin rebuilding the catch basin. I paid about $250 for the initial camera scoping. The day came and he didn't show. I called, and the line didn't answer or take messages. Strange. I called again the next day, and by the 3rd day of no response went to another plumber. 3 days later his office manager called. She explained their phones had been out of service all week, and she was rescheduling clients. I declined. Rob West knows a lot about old Chicago houses and their plumbing. He advised me about my rain barrels and gave me much useful advice about my sewer system. He basically explained how the system works, where the toilet lines joined the sewer line, the effectiveness of taking the downspouts offline. I feel bad that his phones went out, but my time is valuable too. He wasn't as dependable as I needed, but he really knows his stuff. I called another Angie's List plumber who was able to do everything Rob West suggested at about the same price.

Concrete Crawlspaces & Basement Waterproofing Corp
Excellent. Highly recommend!!! Jason was very flexible as we started talking about this ~4 months before we did the work and came out twice as the plans slightly changed. He assessed work as unnecessary, that another contractor recommended, helping keep prices down. Javier showed up with the crew on time and finished right on schedule with no surprises. All work looks great. Necessary care was taking for cleanup, etc.

    DAL Builders
Each project was finished on time and on budget. They helped us make some design and material choices along the way that worked out great for our home. When something didn't turn out as we expected, they worked to make it right.

    Establishing Firm Foundation Waterproofing
Robert and his crew did a great job waterproofing our basement. His crew were able to start working on our house the day after I called him. His initial estimate was just to waterproof the part of the foundation that was leaking. However, after his crew dug a trench near the wall of the house they discovered a much bigger problem: Water was coming from somewhere in the ground and it was pressing against the entire side of the foundation! This required a much more substantial solution, and a much higher cost: Waterproofing the entire side of the foundation, pouring concrete to shore up the base of the foundation, placing a drainage pipe underground, and installing a sump pump inside our basement to pump the water away from the house. His workers were able to get this work done in less time than was estimated, and they then cleaned up both inside and outside the house. My only complaint with their work was that they put garbage items into our composting and recycling bins. After I brought this to their attention, they then removed these items. Overall, they did a great job, and our basement has been bone dry since they finished.

    Cascade Plumbing & Sewer
I purchased the Angie's list $99 deal with Cascade Plumbing to have them fix two leaky faucets in our bathroom.  I called them and scheduled a morning appointment for January 29, 2016.  I took off from work to stay home to let them in.  I called them at 10:00 to confirm that they were still coming and left a voicemail.  I called at 1:00 p.m. and left a voicemail.  I called at 4:00 p.m. and left a voicemail.  No response.  That evening, I got a call back from Cascade saying that one of their trucks broke down and they couldn't come out for the appointment.  I received no explanation for why they didn't call me to let me know that they weren't coming or why they did not return my voicemails until later that evening.  I did not receive any apology.
We scheduled a follow-up appointment for January 30, 2016.  Their plumber came by and fixed one of the faucets, but needed to purchase a part to fix the other faucet.  He left and said that he ordered the part from the Faucet Shoppe and would come by later that week to complete the install.  Well, it turns out that the Faucet Shoppe never ordered the part.  I had to call both the Faucet Shoppe and the plumber to determine the status of the order.  It took until March 4, 2016 to get the faucet replaced.
I will not be using Cascade Plumbing again.

Morning Noon & Night Plumbing & Sewer
I have had extensive work done with them since the last time they did work.  They were here last September.  It was over a thousand dollars.  They've also done not cement work.  I had a sink problem in my bathroom they fixed.  They were very prompt, they were there when they said they would be there and they actually were there and that's unusual now a days.

    Goode Plumbing
They did a great job and were very responsive.  Andrew came on time in the morning to inspect the sump pump(s).  They determined that the back up pump was not functioning properly.  They gave me a quote to replace the back-up pump ($550) and left.  I called them later the same day to schedule the installation of the replacement pump, and Andrew came back the same day to install the pump.  I would use them again.

    Lifeline Plumbing Heating & Cooling
Both times we called Lifeline in an emergency the plumber was there within a few hours.  THe first time was the Friday after Thanksgiving and the second time was in the midst of a snowstorm, so that's pretty extraordinary.  They were able to do the repairs the same day.  They live up to their name.  Plumber Sam D. was great.  Highly recommend.

    Excel Plumbing
Damian was on time, courteous and friendly.  He quickly diagnosed the problem, fixed it and left the area where he worked very clean.  He checked the hot water heater and sump pump gratis.  I'm highly satisfied with both the service and the price.
