    AAA Accurate Appliance Services
I was satisfied. He was honest. In the end, I decided not to do the repairs because it would be cheaper to replace, but I was happy with the service that I got. They had a minimum for coming by and I think it was $65. They were pretty responsive but not super responsive.

    MIDCITY PLUMBING INC
The garbage disposer worked with just the repairman looking at it.  He said he wished he could say that this always happens.  But then, he says "wait a minute".  He heard something in the disposer, so he examined it very carefully and found that a wood chip (I use them for barbecuing) was in the disposer and had jammed it, so he removed the chip.  He did not charge me the usual full price for a visit, as the repair turned out to be so easy.

    Advantage Appliance Service
I had called this company for a repair on my mother's stove in New Lenox. Customer service was excellent. They immediately called back and told me they didn't travel to New Lenox and gave me some recommendations. So helpful I would use them again since I live closer to naperville than my mother.

    BEST VACUUM INC
I have a Miehle vacuum and did not put the bag in correctly.  MY MISTAKE.  I noticed dust inside and the vacuum wasn't picking up.  They were extremely nice and sent the vacuum back to the factory, cleaning it inside and out and putting in a new filter ($50 of the charge) as well as fixing the motor in the motorized hose piece. It really works like new - and better than it had the last time I brought it in elsewhere.

    PLATINUM MECHANICAL SERVICES INC
Excellent, excellent, excellent.  We were so happy to have the guys from Platinum Mechanical out to repair our microwave and stovetop, after we'd hired two other local repairmen to "fix" them with no solution to the problem.  Platinum Mechanical techs were ultra-knowledgeable and made it clear that they were familiar with the brand and model they were looking at, and so they were able to fix the problem correctly, in a short period of time, the first time.

A few other reviewers have mentioned price, and I'll admit to a little sticker shock when I saw the high hourly rates and the amount of the service charge.  I paid just over $1200 for three visits (they identified an additional issue on their first visit, apart from my complaint, which they came back a different day to fix, plus a third visit that I'll mention below).  I think they're worth the cost, though, for the following reasons:
    • they know what they're doing. Our initial hires of other lower-rate contractors were a waste of money, because they were taking a stab at a project that they, in the end, didn't know how to fix.  Even the receptionist expressed understanding of the problem we were having by indicating that she'd received similar calls for similar appliances.
    • they work hard.  Both techs that we had out were practically running back and forth to their van.  This is not the proverbial "eat a sandwich while at your home" repair company.
    • they stand by their work.  our microwave was shorting out after they came to fix it, so I had them back.  They ran a series of tests, and found out that the problem was my circuit breaker, not their microwave repair.  And they didn't charge me, even though I deserved it.  As you can imagine, that meant a lot to me.
In the end, their price is higher, but I felt they were worth it, I never felt swindled or taken advantage of, and I wish I'd called them first.

    Bill's Appliance Repair
My furnace went out overnight and Bill was able to come by within an hour or two. Two days later I smelled a gas leak and Nicor found the leak where Bill had done his repairs. Bill came back within an hour, was apologetic and fixed the problem right away.

DEBATED ABOUT GETTING A NEW WASHER OR STAY WITH THIS ONE.DECIDED THAT THE FRONT LOADERS AREN'T UP TO PAR YET VIA CONSUMER REPORTS SO STAYING WITH OLD BESSIE FOR A FEW MORE YEARS. THE REPAIR PERSON CAME,EVALUATED THE PROBLEM,ORDERED THE PARTS AND RETURNED IN LESS THAT A WEEK.HE WAS COURTEOUS,EXPLAINED EVERYTHING PATIENTLY AND EVEN TOOK OFF HIS SHOES WHEN HE CAME IN THE LIVING ROOM! THE SERVICE CALL IS 45.00.

    HOME DEPOT
When we called the store to report the problem that we had, the manager was out, and when we called the area manager to discuss the problem, they had no interest. Generally, their service is poor and I would not recommend that anyone purchase any appliances from this store. The delivery fraud problem is a separate issue, but buyer beware. If you want decent applicances at a reasonable price, ABT still seems the best bet. Too bad the Home Depot and Lowes are putting the little guy out of business.
