The store is some distance from my home, but the drive was worth it. Abt had a fine selection and helpful salesmen. I scheduled delivery for the following Friday. That morning, I received a call that the delivery crew would be at my home in an hour, and they were. Installation went perfectly. They took away the old washer and dryer and hooked up the new ones. One of the installers took the time to explain the details and answer my questions.

It is SO EASY to get things repaired. Handle broke off our new(-ish) fridge that was still under warranty, they sent a new one. New washing machine squeaks? No problem, we'll come check it out. Hey, do you want us to come today rather than next week? All but two of the appliances in our house are from Abt. We went with them when we bought appliances for a kitchen renovation, our washing machine broke down, and a second fridge. It's a LONG drive out to Glenview, but we do it because it's great customer service all around.

    Sears
The price was excellent. I would give that an "A+". I had been pricing that refrigerator for a long time, and they came in $100 cheaper than the competitor's. It's a newer model and they had a sale going on and I happened to find it at the right time. It was all good. As a matter of fact, I am going there Monday. The Sears in my area is closing, and I am going to find some appliances for my kitchen.

    Sears Outlet
I give a B for price because they will give you one price and then for example; if you buy a stove, they dont give you the thing that connects to the outlet, which you usually have to buy that too.It would depend if I would use them again. I would have to compare what their total price is versus the price they give me. I buy appliances based on price, not based on quality or other things. To me it is a bit deceiving to say something is one price and its not. For example, someone is comparing appliances from Sears and another store, its not a fair comparison because the appliance at Sears might appear lower, because they dont include everything. While the other store includes everything. So, if Im buying only on price, its a bit deceiving. Thats my only feedback. Its not listed anywhere if you look on the website or if you give them a call. You say how much is your appliance? They said, well, $600.00. You get there and its $600.00, plus $20.00, plus another $30.00, now Im paying $650.00.

    HOME DEPOT

I stayed home three days waiting for a delivery and still do not have my washer and dryer.  I also spent 7 phone calls (20-30 minutes each) trying to straighten out the problems.  When I asked the delivery person for her name, she hung up on me.  Today, the dispatcher told me she was delivering Tuesday, even though I can't be here Tuesday and asked for Monday, and hung up.

Home Depot committed to deliver Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.  I still do not have a washer or dryer and have a house full of overnight guests and no way to do their laundry.  Missing three days of work is difficult as well.

    LOWES
One of the units arrived damaged, but we did not notice until we opened the box. I went to back to Lowes to exchange it, the service person at the desk was very efficient and we left with a new unit in perfect condition.

We dealt with 2 different salespeople, one for the washer and dryer and another for the microwave. Both of them were helpful without being aggressive. They answered our questions, pointed out specific things to consider when choosing a particular model, and were knowledgable about the products. The delivery and installation of the washer and dryer was handled professionally. We took the microwave home ourselves but the next day changed our minds about the color we had chosen. We called our salesperson and she easily handled the exchange over the phone.

    Bonneval's Discount Appliances
They have been there for a long time. I wanted a washer and a dryer that was pretty reliable. I had a washer dryer for 10 years and a bolt had to be replaced. The price charged by them was good. They have a 30 day parts labor and one year on transmission. I paid them over the phone with a credit card. My tenant had the appliances delivered to me. They did inform me that the dryer venting wasn?t installed properly. They would take care of it if it?s their fault. There was another place which had good deal and good prices, but I preferred buying used appliances. My overall experience was very good. I would use their services in the future as well.

    Thomas Patrick Walls Company
Went extremely well. Started on time and finished when estimated. Tom (the owner) was there frequently. His foreman was there every day checking on the work, discussing details with us, etc. Crew started by 7am every day including Saturday and worked hard the entire time. Always cleaned up at the end of the day. They built temporary walls around the construction area to reduce the mess and allow us some privacy. The project went very fast - 90% of the work was done in less than 8 weeks. We were expecting it to last months and months but it didn't - they were continually moving. Very happy with the outcome and the professionalism of the crew - we would definitely hire them again.

    Sears Home Services
The place is essentially a warehouse outlet for appliances that were damaged in shipping or rejected by customers for some reason. With some of the appliances, it's easy to see why they are now here--huge scratches or dents. With others, the issues can be far more subtle. For example, with our fridge, there was a very small dent in the front door, barely noticeable, but there was a bigger scratch on the side. As luck would have it, the side of the scratch happens to be where it would be up against a cabinet in our kitchen! And the dryer had a few scratches... but for a dryer that goes in the basement, who cares? All of the appliances come with the same warranty as you would get if you bought them at a regular Sears, and they offer delivery and installation as well. Don't count on much help from the sales staff, though. Most of them don't really seem to know what they are doing. I would recommend doing research at a regular Sears--find the model you want, and then go here to see if you can find a deal. Sometimes it might take a few visits (their stock seems to rotate often) to find what you are looking for in good-enough shape, but with patience, it can be well worth it!
