    RedLight Security
They came on time, and Jim German (pronounced   Gerr-man, was unbelievably knowledgeable, came up with great ideas and suggestions, and just was a pleasure to work with. I had a question on Thanksgiving and texted him, not expected a return text until the next day, and I heard back within minutes.
He touched up paint left by new panels as well.
Top notch man, and top notch company.

I found this company to be pushy, inflexible and unable/unwilling to customize their product to meet my needs.   They first sign you up and collect a refundable $99 before you can have an appointment to install their system.  Then they send you a awful, inaccurate (versus what they promise on the phone) 12 page single spaced agreement with a three year term which you must sign of the installer will not show up.  On the phone they tell you that the installer will not do what the agreement says but will do what they told you on the phone.  I'm not a lawyer but this policy of sign something and don't worry about what it says is absurd.  They have wasted over 90 minutes of my time and I would not tell anyone to talk with them.

The service turned out okay. I am a little afraid to use it, but it works fine, but I enjoy it. I feel secure with it in the house. It is a very good and accommodating outfit to work with. It was very easy to install and there was no trick to it. I spoke to them on phone. They were very polite and answered all my questions and made it all clear. I didn't have any problem. The pricing for the package was good, however I felt that it was expensive for any additional pieces that I wanted.

    Vivint Inc
Although I was with my previous alarm company for many years, it was time to update the system and go digital.  I hired a different company after receiving a postcard solicitation in my mailbox.  That company turned out to be a nightmare, and I was able to get out of that contract.  Because it was such a bad experience, I did my homework and had five companies come out for estimates.  I have an extra large house and a need for a more intricate system than the average home.  I found Vivint by doing a google search, and thought I'd give them a try.  They were eager to make the sale and did whatever I asked to make me happy.  The sales person on the phone was professional, and the installers also competent and on the ball.  They sent a person out to inspect the home and take notes on everything that would be needed, and then sent the "A-team" to do the installation.  The operators were prompt and courteous on the phone, and the installers were knowledgeable, pleasant, and got the job done!  They ended up giving me extra alarms and glass-break protectors to make sure the entire house was covered properly.  The entire job was much less expensive than its closest competitor.
I waited 4 months to write this review because I wanted to make sure there were no glitches in the system.  I did have one problem with a loose wire(?), but they came out quickly - and at no charge - to remedy it.  They are super responsive on the phone, and their digital system allows them to thoroughly monitor every event.  I like the app for my phone, and the ability to check up on everything when I'm not  home.
All-in-all, I think they are a wonderful company and I would give them an "A+"

    Protect Your Home
Protect Your Home installed my system 3 months ago, and since then we've had nothing but trouble.  3 false alarms, "system trouble" light goes on randomly, and they've been out at least 3 times trying to get it straight.  But the most disturbing part about all of this is that when the alarm actually does go off, an operator calls to see if everything is o.k. and they are supposed to ask for your passcode - no one does.  In addition, this morning at 5:30 a.m., my "system trouble" alarm went off, and when the monitoring company called back, they were unable to trouble shoot the problem - they connected me to "tech support", and that person was reading from the manual - they had NO IDEA what might be wrong with the system, or where the trouble was - they tried "transferring me", and just hung up because they were incompetent and had no knowledge of this type of system.  When I called back and another person answered, they were able to tell me it was a basement window, but not able to figure out exactly which one from the information sent to them by the device.  In addition, last month when I was cooking, there was a small fire in the oven and my smoke detectors went off.  These smoke detectors were NOT the ones installed by ADT - they were installed by my builder 18 years ago in my home - the ADT alarm never sent a signal, and never activated.  I have three different numbers to call for emergencies, and/or support of the system - each time I call, the system puts me through multiple phone numbers, transfers, and recordings - press 1, press 2, etc...   If there was an actual emergency I would be talking to voice mail?  There is overwhelming confusion about who to call and when (Protect Your Home for the first 3 months, ADT after that??)  Also, a system test is supposed to be done once a month, 2 months later I found out that they were trying to do the test, but there was no response... in those two months, no one tried to contact me to tell me there was a problem. In addition, it is difficult, if not impossible, to get anyone out to fix the system on weekends or evenings. This means that sometimes we could go 3 or 4 days without security -
I strongly feel that ADT and Protect Your Home is an amateur operation, their people are NOT trained in security, and they are in over their heads with the type of security required for my home (larger than 5,000 square feet).  I would not recommend them to anyone for anything- I am surprised that they have not been removed from Angie's List.

We had a very old security system. We found that something was wrong with the control panel so it was not actually relaying messages to the monitoring system in place. They put in a new control panel for it. The technician who came out was very knowledgeable. He has come out before. He was very professional older guy. The price was very competitive because we were existing customers.

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY. THEY HAVE ALWAYS DONE A VERY THOROUGH JOB AND HAVE BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF OUTSTANDING. I ALSO, HAVE HIRED THEM TO INSTALL AN ALARM AND CHANGE LOCKS IN MY PLACE OF BUSINESS. WE HAD TO USE THEM FOR AN EMERGENCY ONCE, AND THEIR RESPONSE TIME WAS EXCELLENT! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!

Their act could work a lot better. It's in and out all the time. It's expensive for what you got. They were very nice.
