A5 Star Concrete & Construction5 Star removed and replaced the crumbling concrete step and the spalling stoop of our condo building and 80 feet of sinking sidewalk along a heavily trafficked and sloped public way. The work far exceeded expectations. 5 Star was communicative and punctual leading up to the construction day. On the morning of construction day, 5 Star's crew arrived before the scheduled start time to set up and prep the area, so actual work began exactly at the agreed-upon start time. Demolition and removal was precise, quick and thorough. The company president himself supervised the concrete pour and worked onsite until the job was completed, actually doing all of the precision work of constructing concrete stairs and shaping a new sidewalk, with a special eye for grading the sidewalk surface with our irregular terrain. 5 Star used premium materials in the pour. Throughout the day, families and other passersby stopped to watch the work, and it became a small community affair. One retired neighbor, who had worked in construction, sat on a park bench and marveled at the work all day, commenting what a professional team this was. The job was completed by mid-aftgernoon, and cleanup was given as much attention as the construction; except for the "Wet Cement" caution tape, you'd never know so much work had just been done on the site. The four-man crew was friendly, considerate and professional.- Rob W.

APerry's Decorative Concrete and PaintingRepainted the exterior of my 30 year old Garage and painted the inside concrete slab and both came out phenomenal! Rons easy to work with and stands by his word and is no BS kind of person. I think the other reviewer has a personal issue that isn't being based off Ron or his work or only provides negative yelp reviews after looking at his other reviews because Rons work and word are as solid as concrete and he went out of his way to help me out during this COVID-19 situation also. AThis was a big, expensive project for our five-unit building. Our front stairwell has been disintegrating for years now. Gibran and his crew did a great job. We had some complaints about the appearance of the side walls of the stairs. Gibran was responsive and sent his crew back to finish the job. The railings he installed were custom made and very high quality.

AWe had acquired 3 solid estimates from firms we had either used before or seen their completed work. All firms were professional and we felt comfortable with each individual who came out. We met Jillian at a trade show at a western suburban venue. She had a genuine interest in our project and offered us a card to think about an estimate with their firm. She was honest in the time frame for a project start and added that the wet spring could have an impact on timeliness. Vito came out as scheduled and was interested in looking over my prints and working on an estimate. His knowledge and ability to work around obstacles impressed myself and our whole family. G-Cats bid was not the lowest but we are so glad we had hired them for this project. His whole team of employees on the job were hard working and very accommodating. They were willing to give you value added service at every turn and not once did we feel uncomfortable during the project. Vito's dad, with his years of experience, even joined in and answered questions and shared experience while on the job. It is truly a family business. Vito sticks with the job till it is done and even came out when the paving and blending with the road was done. Please remember that they do not control weather, but patience on your part, and great craftsmanship on their part will leave you satisfied with a job well done. I highly recommend this firm and would use them again.

Nick recommended a simple repair, explained why in plain-language and provided a fair estimate in no time. FUsed CSS for snow removal. Heed the reviews here and Yelp. This company is not professional, does not fulfill its contractual obligations and the project manager is delusional. They did a poor job removing snow so we had no access to our walkways/garage (what they were pre-paid to do) and made excuses for why they didn't do what they were hired to do. As winter went on, they didn't even show up and claimed there was nowhere to put snow - tried to charge us more to haul snow away (even though I had no issue with just me and a shovel...and I'm not a "professional snow remover"). Do not use this firm, you will regret it. They take on contracts to collect the revenue, but do not have the people/tools to do the job if more than a few inches of snow.

ATy and company (Luis I think was his partner’s name?) did a great job installing our new driveway and front/back porches. I went with Ty not only because his quote was very competitive, but primarily because he took the most time to answer all my questions and describe to me what they could do or could not. I needed a lot of work done and I felt he really listened to what I wanted and gave me realistic options on what he could do to and what would be best. A year after the install I reached out to Ty with a few maintenance questions, which he answered promptly and even offered to stop by and address my questions in person. Overall, the finished product is great, price was competitive, the process was easy and delivered exactly what I wanted. But be sure to contact early in the season though, as they get busy really quickly. I got a quote from them in Feb or March (2020) and they were already booked up until July to do the install.

AOutstanding - Scott really cared about making the are look great and match the area around it. A couple other people who quoted the job refused to retain a stone border on the edge of the concrete pad. Scott strongly advised against doing the job without including the border, stating that it would look much better with it, and he was right. He lined up a stone company to install the border and make other stone fixes around the house unrelated to the patio area. Thank you Scott, for getting the exterior of my house looking great again.

AThe project went great! We provided a drawing with the square footage of the new porch and walkway. Bud's requested a deposit and started the work as soon as the weather made it possible. The project was completed in a couple of days and Bud modified the design as needed in collaboration with our landscape architect. We are pleased with the results.

AIt was a pleasure working with Jack and his assistant. My job required the use of Ardex products to repair a stair that was cracking. 2 other contractor that looked at it were not familiar with Ardex and wanted to tear out the entire stair. Jack is a specialist with Ardex. He explained the limitations of the products and what he felt needed to be done to do a good job. Upon removing the bad concrete some of it had to be replaced but the extra charge was reasonable and understandable. He followed through with every promise he made and showed up on time. He completed the job within the time frame discussed. Very knowledgeable, professional, reasonably priced concrete contractor. I would definitely call Expert Concrete Solutions again for any future concrete projects.
