Anthony and Brandon repaired our chimney and installed a new damper and cap and beautiful new logs in under 2 hours! Both men were very friendly and answered all our questions. AA-1 Safety Chimney Service, Inc.They showed up on time. calling 45 minutes beforehand to verify appointment. They quickly inspected the chimney and told me what the problem was and the recommended treatment. I asked a few questions and asked them to perform a test with a hose to insure that what they were saying was correct. They did so and the water leak did appear. They did the repair work at that time and inspected on more thing before they left. We have had a couple of rain storms since the repair with no leakage. They were polite, courteous, and on time. I was also given a discount for being a veteran, which I had not asked for but received when the tech noticed the license plate on my car. He spent time explaining the issues to my husband and I, showing us photos he'd taken and answering all of our questions. When Anthony came out to do the repair work, he was efficient and once again took time to discuss the work he had done with us in detail. AA-1 Safety Chimney Service, Inc.Very well. The crew of 2 arrived early and finished the job within 2 hours. I originally had squirrels nesting withing the stack and water had damaged the ductwork with rust and ducting that collapsed. There was no flow for the carbon monoxide from the furnace, so I had to replace the system.- Stephen T.

ABald Eagle ConstructionThere was a rush to get this job finished before cold weather set in. Fortunately, the company was able to respond and get the work completed on time. The spot tuckpointing was sloppy in a few areas, probably due to haste, with the workers working until darkness set in. The chimney repair was very good. Cost of the work done was more than reasonable. I have used this company before (for a roof replacement), and was well satisfied with the work at that time, too.- ROBERT M.

The quality of the spot tuckpointing was good, with some areas showing some sloppiness due to haste, with the workers continuing their work even into the first hour of near darkness. The chimney tuckpointing and repair was very good. The price was better than reasonable. We're a family owned business where the owners make up a part of the crews. This leads to a constantly superior quality product. We have been in business since 1992, and because we keep our customers happy, most of the new work we receive is the result of a clients referral.

AStar Tuckpointing did superb work on our recent masonry project. The lintels above the windows in the octagon at the front of our 80+ year old bungalow were rusted and deteriorating, causing the bricks to shift and, ultimately, leading to water leakage into the living room ceilings. Star Tuckpointing was the only vendor I spoke with who, right off the bat, offered to clean and reuse the original brick. That's huge for repairs to an older building as there is no way to match those classic bricks. That endeared these guys to me right away. But it was the experience of having the work done that tells me I made the right choice. Star Tuckpointing is a family run and operated business - the crew consisted of father and sons, uncles and cousins, and the attention to detail and pride in their work exhibited is notable. The reconstruction is seamless. They installed new windows and rebuilt the wall, the octagon parapet and decorative cap stones. The mortar is a darn near perfect match. The cleaned and reused bricks look great. They replaced a poorly designed downspout with a new scupper box and replaced the roofing behind the parapet with new materials, work that looks better than it must've when the building was brand new. I'm confident that we'll have no more water issues. In addition to the parapet rebuild, the crew went around and spot tuckpointed all the various cracks, touched up the brick arches above window openings, etc. Everything looks great! We had originally intended to forego rebuilding the original stone retaining wall for the garden along the front of the house, after all, it's just a garden wall, nothing structural or that would cause any immediate problems, but after having the other work done, the cracked and leaning wall looked so bad compared to the beautiful new front of the building that we added it on. Now the home looks fantastic! The work was performed quickly and efficiently. The site was cleaned up after each and every day's work. It was a delight to have these guys on the job and if the need for other masonry work arises in the future, I know I have only one call to make. Thank you to Peter and Boycheck and the whole family for a good well done.

FMr. Rice himself showed up this morning to give us an estimate. He arrived without a mask. He refused to take one (new, still in the package) from me when I asked him to put one one. His response: "I don't need one." I explained that it wasn't for his safety, but for my own and my husband's. My husband is in a high risk group. Roce repeated: "Well, I don't need one," adding "I won't wear one. I don't do that." Do not hire these people. They clearly do not care about the safety of their clients. AI got several quotes to repair our chimney crown, something the inspector noted we needed to do before we bought our house. Scott Osmondson came over to inspect our chimney, he showed me with binoculars that our chimney should be tuck-pointed as well. Their quote for replacing the crown, tuck pointing, and putting a chimney cap on was very reasonable, it included more work than other quotes I got, and they were able to complete the work within a couple of weeks of getting the quote. The work was done over three mornings and the finished chimney looks great. I also like that they are a Chicago company.

FGuy showed up to my home without a mask. I assumed it was a religious belief bc he told me he was Jewish twice. Charged me $129 to vacuum my fireplace and tell me that I have to pay $500 for him to do anything else. When I called to make the appointment..the guy who answered just made the appointment and did not ask any questions..about how long it's been since it was cleaned etc. I guess I paid $129 for the priviledge of a house call to ask me those questions in person. Do not use this company. I was ripped off..You will be too.
