Thank you, Brian, for promptly returning my phone call and talking to me about how to get my ceiling tested for asbestos. I have the information to send a sample for lab testing. Brian was very reassuring and at least this first step will be cost-effective.

ian, dylan, and scott run a very polished, very professional operation.  the house we were looking to purchase had some moisture damage to the bamboo floors and while getting estimates to fix it, we found out that the floors were made by a company that was later bought by lumbar liquidators and while that product itself is not involved in any of the class action suits, we of course wanted to be sure the formaldehyde levels were not a concern.  ian walked us through a tailored, comprehensive plan, got us quick and accurate answers, and provided clarity in an area in which real answers are soemtimes hard to come by.

I had asked the estimator, Ron Miller, to come the first day to insure the set-up went according to our agreement. it made me feel secure that they had on 'Bluestone' shirts, handed me their personal cards and came in a truck labelled 'Bluestone."   They said they would come at 7 am and they came right on the button!  Ron came with Project Manager William and his crew.  William was professional, courteous, respectful and did a great job keeping everything clean.  The crew went to work isolating the area around the attic hatch with strong plastic from rug to ceiling that made a containment area.  They also installed plastic drop-cloths on the rug and stairs.  They used negative air machines to aid in removing airborne mold.  The crew removed baffles and insulation so they could treat the whole attic.  Insulation was bagged prior to leaving the work area.  It was taken outside and disposed of by the company.  Before leaving the first day, the crew vacuumed the carpet and left everything in order.
The second day, the crew also arrived right on the button.  I could tell they were doing a good job because I could hear them moving around in the attic and I could hear their machines.  They disinfected and scrubbed the sheathing and rafters throughout the attic. They then used a white anti-fungal encapsulant treatment to cover the wood to help prevent mold growth in the future.  They used the HEPA vacuum and cleaned up the containment area and the stairway leading  to the containment area around the hatch.
William did not come the third day because he was taking a class to upgrade his skills.  So, our Project Manager on Day 3 was Tyler.  He was also professionally clothed, courteous, respectful and gave me his personal card.  Like William before him, he rang the bell right at 7 am.  The attic is much hotter than the rest of the house, so they start early!  Tyler came with 2 trucks filled with brand-new pink fiberglass insulation and and baffles.  They installed 20 baffles to prevent the insulation from covering the soffit vents.  They built up the attic hatch to 18" in order to blow in enough insulation to reach the recommended R-50 value.  They also attached an 18" piece of fiberglass insulation to the backside of the attic access panel.  Then, they blew in the 18" of fiberglass insulation.  This was a long process.  When done, I stood on a ladder to observe the work that had been done.  Tyler and his crew then took down the plastic that had created a containment area.  They did a thorough job cleaning and vacuuming.
I must add that I asked Tyler to add a piece of missing wood over sheathing where the 'eye' of a piece of wood was missing.  He cut a new pioece of wood and nailed it up.  Then, came back and applied the encapsulant to this piece of wood also.  All in all, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend the Bluestone Environmental company.

Tom was wonderful. I called him at 4:30 pm to see when he could come out. He was there at 8:30 am the next morning. Tom is very knowledgeable and professional. He answered all of my questions, explained the procedure for removing the tile properly and disposing of it, as per all of the rules and regulations. He is a nice guy who really knows his business. I felt confident the job would be done right. We don't know yet if we are doing the work, or if he purchasers are going to ask for a credit. If we are going to do the work, we will DEFINITELY use Tom.

SCOTT WAS VERY THOROUGH IN OBTAINING SAMPLES OF VERMICULITE FROM UNDER OUR FAMILY ROOM FLOOR. VERY HONEST AND NICE TO DEAL WITH. HOWEVER, LAKE SHORE WAS TOO EXPENSIVE TO USE FOR THE ACTUAL REMOVAL OF THE VERMICULITE. RECOMMENDED FOR ASBESTOS TESTING.
