Well & Water Pump Repair reviews in North Barrington

ABC Plumbing Heating Cooling & Electric
The short answer: It went terribly. Recommendation: Google "How to buy and replace a sump pump", and do it yourself. Or, hire a different company. Details: This ABC pump is not labeled with any manufacturer information, only a tag saying that it is manufactured exclusively for ABC. I told the service scheduler that the pump and motor were working 100%, but that I needed replacement parts for the float switch assembly. Was told that ABC does not sell parts, all they do is replace any malfunctioning pump. I scheduled a free estimate for replacement of the pump. The MINIMUM price to replace the pump with the exact same model, was $800.00 - They also provided quotes for "better" pumps, which ran up to more than $2000.00!!! I looked online, and found a highly rated replacement pump on Amazon, for $177.00! I performed a temporary repair of the float switch assembly, and the pump ran for another year. When it began malfunctioning again (still due to the float switch), I looked up ABC's website. It says they DO provide repair services for sump pumps. I was again told that ABC does not repair pumps or sell replacement parts. I had to point the customer service rep to the ABC website, in order to schedule a repair technician to come out and look at the problem. I was scheduled to have a technician come on a Saturday, "around noon." The schedule was confirmed via E-Mail and phone, but the technician didn't show up or call. Around 3pm, I contacted ABC, and was told that there were many "plumbing emergencies" that day, and that they would have to re-schedule. I ended up cancelling the re-scheduled visit, spent $20 on a replacement float switch, and spent less than 1 hour modifying the pump assembly. It's working now, no problems. Remember: ABC wanted EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS to fix a problem that (at MOST) would have cost $177.00 and 1 hour of my time. I cannot recommend ABC, based on my experience with them.

Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
It went perfectly and the drain was cleared in a few minutes. I had another service provider out earlier end they told me that they could not auger out the drain even though it had been augered before, They said I needed a power jet for $1400 and there was no guarantee it would solve the problem. They charged me $49 for that information. Four Seasons came in, gave me a free estimate and said they could auger out the blockage. They did so for 25% of the other estimate. I would use them again in a heartbeat..

Much to my surprise, they organized the job for that very day and did all the work- a whole day's work- the same day they came out for a much smaller job. They had all materials with them and got another tank for me delivered within an hour. Unbelievably good job and service. I could recommend them more hihly. Ryan and Adam were fantastic and super friendly, with me watching and asking questions along the way. Very professional and knowledgable with everything I asked. Also helped me with excellent recommendation for another service which I called and lined up immediately with similarly great results. I honestlygive them 5 stars. Only thing to note is that the office lady isnt the best but you need to push past her. I spoke to Peter himself on 2 ocassions and he was great. Just ignore the old-fashioned sourish lady on the phone. She does not reflect the great service andwork you will recieve on the job. Very higlly recommend. Also, cost was lower than estimated and well within average range.

Corey was the technician who came out. They called before coming out which was appreciated. Corey did a good job of explaining the system and his thoughts of how the setup could be improved. He outlined several options without a pushy sales pitch.

ABC Plumbing Heating Cooling & Electric
I have a sump pump (manufactured in 2003) in my home, which is labeled with ABC's 1-800 phone number. The pump is still fully functional, but; the power contacts for the float switch assembly are worn, and will require replacement soon. There is no OEM information on this pump, only the ABC contact information. This makes it impossible for me to source repair parts (either a new set of power contacts or an entire float switch assembly) on my own.

I called ABCs 800 #, hoping to purchase one of the two parts listed above. Instead, I was told that ABC doesnt sell parts to customers, and the only choice I had was to commit to a $59 service visit (an amount which would be credited towards the cost to repair or replace the pump). The dispatcher was brand new, and was relaying my problem to her manager while speaking with me. I could hear the manager speaking in the background, so I asked to speak to that manager, or a Service Dept. manager. The dispatchers manager refused to speak to me, and refused to pass me to anyone else. The dispatcher was forced to relay this information to me, and was obviously embarrassed and apologetic.

ABC sells pumps, but prevents anyone other than an ABC representative from performing maintenance or repairs on that equipment. And, the dispatch manager refuses to speak with (or transfer) a customer, when that request is made. I find this unacceptable, and incredibly poor customer service. ABC could have gained a customer today, but based on this behavior (and as I told the dispatcher) I will hire ANY company other than ABC, for any of my future home service needs.

Spoke with a gentleman & explained my situation: water pressure suddenly decreased to the point where my upstairs shower wouldn't work (and toilet barely worked- oof!), yet every time I opened a faucet, it would bubble & spit a bunch of air. Peter gave me some suggestions to try, before charging me with a service call and it worked like a charm. This may not have seemed like a complicated matter, but being sick of having to work with a trickle of water from the faucet and getting great advice from the local experts, really made me believe I called the right people. Many thanks, Peter Snelten & Sons. Any referrals I can offer will be immediately directed in your direction. Cheers!

As always, great responsiveness and service from Stan.    Excellent job of explaining the problems, already had all the necessary parts in his van, and got the work done promptly.   I continue to highly recommend Stan Halan for everyone who needs plumbing work done right.

    Excel Plumbing
I called Excel Plumbing in September 2015 to replace the Back up Sump-pump as it failed.
They sent one , they came and saw, and suggested to replace everything as the cost is not much difference between Just replacing the Back-up verses, replacing everything including new Primary and Back-up.
I said, thats fine and we scheduled it.
For installation in two weeks, some one else came, and he suggested to leave the old Primary as it is, as it is working  now,  he said, "instead, I will install the new Primary, right next to the old one, and install the back-up, so that you will have two primary and one back-up, so total three, which would be much better". I said, that sounds good, go ahead. But did not know that he was just trying to make less work for him and at the end I found out he did a pretty bad job, left the work area so bad and did not c*** properly the sump pump well and he took way way longer. I was not at all happy at the end, but I left it there.
But in 4 weeks, to my surprise, the Sump-pump failed. I called Excel ,and explained I was not happy with the first guy who came to install,  they sent a different plumber this time and saw the job last person did, and he himself said, yes, he did not do a good job, and I will replace the whole Sump Pump again. I was happy to know that and I said go ahead. So, he replaced Primary and Back-up sump-pump and left.
But in 8 weeks, one day, I went downstairs and found out water everywhere. I was really really shocked to know that all three ( Old Primary, New Primary and New Back-up System) failed and water rushing into my Basement. I called Excel and I was trying to see what happened and try to fiddle with the pump. Then new Primary came back  as something was struck and it was not working, and when I touched it, new primary came up and it pumped water. By the time Excel guy came, all the water was pumped up and he diagnosed that
    1. Old Primary Failed
    2. New Primary was struck and did not start
    3. new Back-up Fuse gone
thats why all three failed and your basement got flooded. He found some fuse and replaced it and charged me $200. I gave him $200. He did not do anything else, did not remove the failed old primary pump.
So, in Next 4 weeks, I again called Excel and explained the situation and they sent some one else this time ( 4th new guy)
He said, and agreed that the first guy who came to install my Sump-pump should have removed the old Primary as it is in very bad shape and rusty and taking up lot of space, he said, he can remove it and re-pipe it but it costs me $$$ about $250. I said, I can not pay a single dime, as I already paid more than $1400 so far. But he does not want to fix it even though it was Excel who supposed to take care of this mess even caused Water damage in my basement.
So, Excel supposed to install new Sump-Pump and Back-up, instead, my old Primary is still in Pit and they had to install two times the new sump-pump and my basement was flooded like h***.
So, please dont ever call Excel Plumbing. I hate to write this review on any business, but I am so frustrated with the work they have done and at the end, it is still not fixed.
Sorry, please, I do not recommend Excel Plumbing.

Snelton & Sons came highly recommended and for good reason! Our water has been sketchy for the past couple of weeks - sometimes not working at all, sometimes with pockets of air. Then the water completely stopped working! Agh!! They were short of employees this week but really went out of their way to get this job done for us so that we have running water!
Throughout the entire process Snelton & Sons have been professional, knowledgeable and provided excellent service. We are very grateful for the great job they did. Our water is running with no problems and the pressure is finally at a normal level. Thank you so much!

Scheduling was very easy and I was able to get an appointment within a few days at my preferred time. The plumber (Sam) and his assistant (Ron) were punctual, professional and very pleasant to work with. Sam listened carefully and responded thoroughly to my questions. He was very patient and explained how everything worked and what I needed to do for maintenance. He also explained how I could do a couple minor repairs on my own. He asked several times to make sure everything was satisfactory. He double checked the work and made sure everything was left clean. I would definitely recommend them.
