The subfloor which was wet was supposed to be replaced. It was not replaced. Now our kitchen floor has a hump and there is still mold on the ceiling in our basement. The grout is coming up between the tiles in the kitchen. It started coming up almost immediately. We pointed it out to them and they came and "fixed" it. Only to have it come up again. It is coming up in greater bits than before and another contractor we had come out to evaluate it said it was mixed incorrectly and would eventually all come out. They said the only way to prevent that would be to pull it all up and redo it. It took them 3 attempts to do the wood floor. The first time the floor squeaked with every step. You could literally see the floor move underfoot. Also, the boards slid back and forth so you could see the subfloor. We pointed this out and they again came out to "fix" it. When they fixed it the floor didn't squeak so much but there was a nail sticking straight up in the middle of the floor. We had to point out the nail. They then did it a third time. There are still boards that slide so we can see the sub floor. It still squeaks (though not as bad). They also did not replace the transition as they said they would. It's a trip hazard. The trim had to be replaced. The initially put the original trim back, but because the floor was lower the trim didn't reach the floor. WE had to point this out. Again, they came out to fix it. They did replace the trim, but they didnt prep the wood properly so it looks like it was was covered in spots and they stained it a DIFFERENT COLOR so it doesn't match the other trim. The door they replaced leaked and the lock was broken. The door actually dripped water, we could hear it. They came out to fix that also. I guess it's fixed (I have zero confidence in their caulk work) but we had to have another company come out to fix the locks. They broke one of our cabinets and the fridge icemaker. They said they would come out to fix it and they never did. We pointed out that the paint now ends above the trim, they said they would paint it, they never did. They also took four to five MONTHS to do this awful job. They told us it would take two day. Two and a half at most. That's one of the reasons we hired them, the other companies we got quotes from said a week. In retrospect that should have been a red flag, not a good sign.

2 bathrooms were painted. Took them about 5-6 hours with two guys. They have some guys that really know what they were doing when it comes to cutting around objects. Excellent company for anyone who needs painting.

    Arteman's Construction
Called Arteman's on a rainy day in November, he happened to be available so he came right over.  The other company had left our house with no front entry door, because they just replace doors.  Arteman was a hero that day!  He replaced the rotten beam under the threshold.  He also noted that the tiled entry way was incorrectly installed (previous owner's DIYproject) and he removed the tile as it was sitting on water damaged particle board and interfering with the repair of the threshold.
The company we bought our door from finished installing the door.
We called Arteman's again, because there was a gap between where the door had been installed and where the stoop steps were, leaving his repair exposed.  He came over, within a day or two and filled the gap with a some type of sealer.  The area is not leaking and with this crazy winter we're so grateful for his good work.
I do have a minor gripe though, we wanted him to install new tile for us since our landing now was just plywood since he had taken up the old tile.   I went to the store he recommended to get tile, but none of the tile there appealed to me.  I purchased tile at Lowes.  When he saw the tile, he told us that he wouldn't be able to put it in for another three months.  That seemed like a dodge to me. If he didn't want to put it in, I would have appreciated just a simple "no."  But to be fair he had fit us into his schedule in an emergency and I'm grateful.  Anyhow, I couldn't wait, because to paraphrase the Stark's, "Winter was Coming."  I put it in myself, apparently our landing is homeowner DIY territory.
All in all Arteman's was great to work with.  Showed up when he said he would.  Completed the job in a quick period of time.  Charged appropriately.

    Carter Construction & Remodeling Inc
I was having great trouble installing a laminate floor in my kitchen. My floor was massively unlevel and needed some lifting and firming up. Some of the subfloor also needed to be replaced They did this for $1000. I though that was a little high, but not bad and the work was successful. THe guys were all nice and polite as well. They then installed the floor for me just a short time later for $400, which was a great price compared to what I was being quoted at. Again, the work was a success, even though they were running out of flooring because of my previous butcher job. Very solid all the way around
