When I call for help, the company send their technician quickly the day after (because none emergency). Andrew San Roman did a good job. During two hours and a half, he replaced two old sink drainers which were hard to remove. Also about ten minutes at the end, he tightened couple screws on front door lock for me. He is a hard worker! Thank you so much.

I contacted BRH to help me with two projects. The first was to rebuild a cantilevered balcony and expand a master bedroom slightly, the second was to help me with some sliding door replacements and a support beam. The first project never happened. Frankly, BRH is just NOT set-up for, nor capable enough to do the work on multi-discipline jobs that are not just kitchens or baths. Several people came out to bid the job. Each one completely misunderstood it, despite the fact that I had architectural renderings demonstrating exactly what I wanted, and detailed descriptions of the desired fit and finish materials. This wasted a tremendous amount of time and resulted in BRH eventually just ignoring my requests to revise their proposals for accuracy. DO NOT use them for anything with complexity unless it's a kitchen or bath. These guys just want to install windows and hang light fixtures and do basic, uncomplicated one-off projects. There is nothing wrong with that, but don't let them tell you they can do more. I felt they were more appropriate to use for my second project, where I had done most of the prep, all of the demo and parts ordering, and they could just come in and take direction and perform straightforward tasks. I acted as a 'third man' and super on the job, as they helped me lift two very heavy sliders, and a 300 lb. support beam that I picked up and drove to my home. The sliders went in fine. They did a good job. Not great, but good. They'd never installed sliders like mine, but they had definitely installed windows before, so I felt good about their work since I was able to supervise. The support beam went equally smoothly. The electrical was a disaster. I'd called the switchboard several times to make sure, and they guaranteed till the cows came home about how capable their guys are. The guy who did my electrical was a nice guy, but a total hack when it came to electrical. He had to come back 4 times (they estimated 1 day) over a period of a month just to get it working. All he had to do was drop existing wiring 3 inches. Instead of just doin that run by run, he decided to rip it all out and do it "his way." Ugh. Very soon, he couldn't figure it out and spent WAY MORE time than should have been necessary for what I needed. Thank god I wasn't up against an actual timeline, because they made me work around their schedule instead of the other way around. I am STILL finding errors and sloppiness in his work. He lazily ran one conduit UNDER my PVC sink drain instead of going OVER it, where it was originally, which now makes my pipe GO UPHILL! Hello? Gravity? He also made WAY too many junction boxes, sloppily bent the pipe when it needed to bend, put no covers on the junction boxes, improperly wired my smart thermostat (which nearly fried my AC), put caps on wires without twisting them or using tape, ran exposed capped wires, left a mess when he left... the list is long and ridiculous. What bothers me is this is work I was going to do myself. I would have been much slower, but I would have done a FAR better job. The final result was sloppy and dangerous, and the customer service after the job was poor. It was clear they did not wish to continue the job, and they simply stopped returning my calls. I discussed the personnel with my rep several times before they came. I wanted to make sure they had everything they needed when they arrived so that I could get the maximum out of their work days. But all the plans changed on the day of work. I didn't get who they said I would. The way they charge is great (hourly) and the hourly rate is fair. It worked out fine for the doors and the beam, but they destroyed all the cost efficiencies with their bungling electrical work. There's no point in having a fair price if one of your guys is so slow that one small aspect of the job kills the budget.

Overall work went very well. The two representatives (Stu and Gabriel) knew their stuff. They were efficient, professional and courteous. For example, one of the ceiling fans was defective. They troubleshot the problem and explained exactly what I needed to get replaced from Home Depot. Problem was solved quickly. Only issue was how I described the work for the ceiling repair. It was probably a bigger job than I expected or described. It probably needs drywall preplacement as opposed to the skimming/sanding/painting that was performed. The ceiling looks much better than before, but eventually the larger project of drywall replacement will need to be performed. As noted, this was more of an issue of how I described the work in the RFP.

Cory the lead craftsman was exceptional, a polished professional. Cory braved the 10 degree cold for two days. In the office Martha orchestrated the job and made sure all the Ts crossed and Is dotted. Very happy with the out come.

    ACTIVE HANDYMAN SERVICE & REMODELING
George was hired to install new handrails and bathroom grab bars for a family member in Niles, IL.  George was professional, honest and very reasonable in his pricing.   The basement and outside handrails look and work great!  The bathroom grab bars were installed through some very old ceramic tiles without any cracking or damage to the tiles.  Our entire family was happy with the quality, price and service of George.   I would highly recommend George and his company to anyone looking for remodeling or similar projects at your home.

Roman was very timely with responding to us. We had some poor experiences with contractors not calling us back. Roman was very honest about when he would be able to come out to do the job, and answered all emails and calls. His coworker and him finished and did great. The shelves are all even, and the grout looks beautiful. We will definitely call again to schedule any further needed work!

I purchased a Big Deal with this company for $110 for 2 hours of handyman services. When I called him, I told him about the service I needed, which was adding an electrical outlet to a wall that had one already on the other side of the wall. He told me that this work was going to be charged for 3 hours of labor, as the travel time would be included in my 2 hours I had already paid for, plus an extra hour to do the work. I also wanted a ceiling fan installed, and he said it would be 5 and half hours charged total for both with travel. The deal did not state that travel time was included in the time purchased. I told him that I had spoken with someone else who told me it would only take 20 minutes to install the new electrical outlet, and he said that I should just go ahead and work with them then.

There was a lot of re-scheduling after rain delays. It got to a point where they stopped responding to emails and phone calls. I reached out to Angie's List and got a refund. When we did communicate, they were really nice and professional. It simple was a response problem.

I wanted tile back splash but they did not do that. I wanted drywall holes repaired but said that would take multiple visits because paste dries and I would have to pay additional visits. He had said he would call me back to tell me when he would be available but did not call back. He said he had many jobs due to Angie's list specials at that time. He seemed like a very nice guy but he couldn't do the projects I needed done.

    HANDYMAN SERVICES
We used HandyMan Services for updates in preparation for our municipal/village home inspection related to the sale of our home. Eric installed 2 stair railings and made several adjustments to the electrical service, including replacing outdated outlets and remedying some polarity issues on existing outlets. He provided great service at a reason price. We were very pleased and recommend his services.
