    Danley's Garage World
Short version - they never showed to give me an estimate and didn't call. Totally unprofessional. Long version - I made an appointment for an estimate to tear down and build a new garage. Appointment was confirmed the day before (message left on my phone and I returned call and spoke to a live person). The morning of the appointment they were an hour late so I called the office. The person I spoke with says they had reviewed my file and determined they could not build what I wanted. Is that a problem? No. Is it a problem that they didn't call to cancel the appointment? Yes. Once they determined they couldn't build it they decided just to no show for the appointment. Bad business and makes me glad they couldn't build what I wanted. Will look for another more professional builder.

    Ray's Overhead Doors
I called Ray, he was able to come out in 30 minutes- had the problem taken care of within the hour! Replaced the bearing plates, cables, adjusted the spring tension and force in the opener itself, balanced the garage door- very professional, courteous, and kind. Poor guy missed his lunch because of me and had to work in the freezing cold. Definitely would call again.

    Bob the Builder Inc
Excellent. Tom and is crew/family absolutely nailed it. Tom made me feel comfortable and took the extra time necessary to walk through my vision of what I was trying to accomplish both right now and in the future. Outstanding mix of expertise, professionalism, and good old fashioned straight up good dude from the beginning to end. I would highly recommend Tom's construction to anyone.

    Scott Overhead Door, Inc.
Rob (Son) from Scott Overhead door came out and finished putting together the garage door opener that I purchased as well as removed and replaced the lower panel of the garage door. He was not a fan of the flimsy hardware that came with the opener so he supplied his own angle iron, door and door opener brackets. He aligned everything, lubricated everything and tested it thoroughly. I only wish I had called them 4 years ago when I had the doors installed. Great Job at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend their work.

    Kildare Concrete One Inc
It went perfectly...We made one phone call and Brian (owner) picked up the phone. We didn't even have to leave a message. He came out the same day and emailed me the estimate the next morning. His price was very good...we had several higher prices. I asked him for some addresses so that we could see his work. He emailed me about 15 addresses within our neighborhood, some driveways that were over 15 years old. They all still looked great. They started work the following week and our driveway was completed within a week. They did a wonderful job and Brian is excellent to deal with. He's very friendly and personable and willing to help you out in any way he can. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!!

    B & E Sealcoating
Very good communications. Next day estimate. Scheduled quickly then delayed 2 days days due to rain but remained first on list. Courteous, professional crew that did a complete clean-up when finished. Will us again.

    Sammson Concrete Inc
I found Sammson concrete on Angie's list and gave them a call.  I was called back in less than an hour by the owner, Steve.  I explained what I wanted and he provided some useful information about the codes specific to where I live.  He came out, had a look, and provided me an estimate by the end of the first day.  Steve said I may need to wait up to two weeks depending on the weather, for an opening.  One of his staff called back the next day, however, and said there was an unexpected opening and could they install my patio the following day.  I said yes.  The next morning, Brian, Steve's son, Steve, and about 5 other workers arrived.  They were careful not to tear up my existing landscaping by putting down plywood anywhere they needed to walk on grass.  They were quick and efficient.  They tore out my old walkway, dug out the area, put in gravel and then poured the concrete.  They completed the project in about 4 hours and then cleaned up so well you couldn't tell they were there.  Very impressive!  From start to finish, I felt like they were treating me like I was spending tens of thousands of dollars when in fact it was just a small patio.  I highly recommend Sammson Concrete to anyone looking for concrete patios.

    Ray's Overhead Doors
Ray showed up 10 minutes early, which was great. He quickly diagnosed my problem and set about fixing it. After the repair was complete, Ray did a complete check up of the entire garage door and door opener. His workmanship and professionalism were outstanding.

    Irish Castle Paving
Called Pat Doorhy at Irish Castle for an estimate and he showed up as scheduled and gave me a very good price(the best of three others) for the job. My gravel driveway is somewhat complex in that it is a 360 degree full circle which slopes down from the street and then uphill to the garage. Pat and his crew arrived exactly on time and graded the entire drive adding gravel where needed. The asphalt was then laid down with perfect curves on the inside and outside edges. I am totally pleased and satisfied with the service, quality and price of the work and highly recommend Castle Paving.

    Better Built Garages
I contracted Better Built for $21,600 in exchange for new construction on a garage. Specified in the contract was a 3 ft. concrete apron to transition from the newly poured slab to my driveway. After the slab was poured it became apparent that additional gravel fill was needed in order to be able to drive into the garage, as the grade was no where close to matching up. I called the contractor and told them about it, and they told me it was not their problem, as they were only contracted to complete the work that was already done.
After a few different conversations with them, they told me that the reason the garage was built so much higher than the existing driveway was because of an adjustment that was made during construction based on the grading needed to keep water out of the new building. They also told me it would turn out as a benefit to me whenever I decided to put in a new driveway. Understanding of this, I asked them to come back to make it usable, and was willing to pay them to do so. Further, I explained that nowhere else on earth is a company allowed to make a change to what they've promised without first conulting the customer they're contracted with, and then make additional adjustments to either contract additional service as needed, or reduce cost appropriately. They again told me it wasn't their problem, and that I had to do it on my own.
End of the day, I was promised a garage that I could use this winter, and instead I end up a 10,000lb paper weight, and another project that I need to source out and pay for. Now winter is coming and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get anyone out here to take on their patch work.
Very upsetting. Better Built promised me something I didn't get, they refuse to fix it despite my offer to pay for any additional costs, and have since threatened to put a lien on my house if I don't pay them the final $1500 of our contract immediately. Had I known this would be an issue before construction began, I would have built it into our negotiation before signing any contract. I relied on the word and promises of the experts and have been left out in the cold.
Such a shame, their salesman was a GREAT guy. Their carpenters did an AMAZING job. Everything is perfect with the way this job went down, except I still can't use my brand new $21.6k garage.
A classic example of a contractor who makes a lot of promises up front to guarantee your satisfaction, but when push comes to shove, are willing to turn their back on you once they have their money regardless of whether or not they've delivered what they've promised.
