  • Excellent. Tom and is crew/family absolutely nailed it. Tom made me feel comfortable and took the extra time necessary to walk through my vision of what I was trying to accomplish both right now and in the future. Outstanding mix of expertise, professionalism, and good old fashioned straight up good dude from the beginning to end. I would highly recommend Tom's construction to anyone.

  • I found Sammson concrete on Angie's list and gave them a call.  I was called back in less than an hour by the owner, Steve.  I explained what I wanted and he provided some useful information about the codes specific to where I live.  He came out, had a look, and provided me an estimate by the end of the first day.  Steve said I may need to wait up to two weeks depending on the weather, for an opening.  One of his staff called back the next day, however, and said there was an unexpected opening and could they install my patio the following day.  I said yes.  The next morning, Brian, Steve's son, Steve, and about 5 other workers arrived.  They were careful not to tear up my existing landscaping by putting down plywood anywhere they needed to walk on grass.  They were quick and efficient.  They tore out my old walkway, dug out the area, put in gravel and then poured the concrete.  They completed the project in about 4 hours and then cleaned up so well you couldn't tell they were there.  Very impressive!  From start to finish, I felt like they were treating me like I was spending tens of thousands of dollars when in fact it was just a small patio.  I highly recommend Sammson Concrete to anyone looking for concrete patios.

  • I have used this company many times over the years.  not sure what changed this year, but crack filling was not done right.  not sure what they used, but it did not fill the cracks all the way, and it highlights the cracks since whatever was used is about 2 inches wide and can be seen through the black top sealer.   everyone now can see where the cracks are since it is like a highlighter.  AND the cracks are not all filled in !!!!

will not use these folks again.

  • Steve came out to give an estimate, but did not do the kind of work I was looking for. He was very thorough in telling us what he thought we needed to know about our project and gave us a lot of suggestions. He took a lot of time with us and I was impressed with his call backs and help.

  • I took the estimate to a friend of mine who has been doing concrete quality control for over ten years. She said it was a good price and a very good mix of concrete.

  • Steve came out the same day of my initial inquiry and spent a good hour with me discussing the project and the options for me to consider. I had quote emailed me within 48 hours. While he wasnt the cheapest, he clearly displayed the most knowledge and expertise and gave me supreme confidence that the project was in good hands (which they proved to be correct).
The project, once started, had some "issues" that were unforeseen, but Steve and his crew manged them and had solutions in place quickly with little or no additional cost. One hiccup was the drain tile from my driveway to the street had collapsed (this is why my driveway always flooded. Steve had a plumber on site that day and the project was hardly delayed at all.
Overall we were supremely satisfied with the end result and professionalism of Sammson Concrete and would recommend them to any home owner.

  • The job went exactly as I had hoped it would. The sales rep Don Iselin was very informative and approachable, was able to contact him very easy via cellphone. Workers were very punctual both days and answered all my questions. They let me know when they arrived on the job and also when they were leaving for the day. Very clean job, minute amount of dust as the machines had vaccuums attached to them.

  • Steve, Brian and crew did a fantastic job all the way around. If there any best practices out there in the concrete industry they should be modeled after Sammsons. The crew was very polite, professional and punctual, arriving each day at the time Steve specified to me. Very informative and answered all my questions and then some. Steve explained to me the process and why they do certain things and why they wouldn't do some things, all to the satisfaction of the job. I DID have 2 less expensive bids than Sammsons but after reading the Angie's list reviews and the initial face to face meeting with Steve at the time of the estimate of the job, I was sold. He explained to me that he uses the stronger 6.5 bag mix vs. the standard 6.0 bag mix which most contractors use, in addition this concrete has the sealer incorporated into the cement so no need to worry about sealing the drive myself.
Steve has a great rapport with my village inspector and the local cement company which provided the cement. If you're wondering why this matters, it involves when these outside parties will show up when they say they will show up, hence expediting the job. My job was delayed 2 weeks due to mother nature and every other day Steve kept me up to date via text when he might be starting my job, very important to me. People need to understand the weather factor in this type of work. I've already gave a few of his business cards to people who are interested in having this work done. Again, GREAT job Sammsons.

  • Tom and his guys are all amazing on so many levels. We
opened an account on Angie?s List as we wanted to find the best quality company
and more importantly the best people. We started by calling out the top guys on
Angie?s List to get estimates.  Tom came
out to the house to look at what we wanted and spent the time with us providing
an education on every detail which was great because we are not well versed in
concrete.  He is very easy to talk to and
has a great sense of humor. He covered what he would do, what to expect, how
things would run, how long before we could use it, etc. He covered things we
didn?t even think of. Tom called J.U.L.I.E. and we are on the border of two
cities with a mailing address in one and utilities from the other. He did the
leg work to figure out how to get the permit. One of the estimates we got prior
to Tom we would have had to do that all ourselves. He set and met our
expectations well. He provided so many options on the look, pattern design,
color, stamped, etc. You can tell he is an expert with experience in his trade.
We had a few questions and he took the time to answer all of our questions and
did not make us feel rushed. He brought pictures of other jobs he had completed
so we could see his work. (Which was amazing!) Tom?s availability is
impeccable. Any time we wanted to get in touch with Tom and called him he
either answered right away or called back extremely quickly. After Tom left from
giving us the estimate we canceled the other appointments as there was simply
    no comparison to the others.
We had a concrete patio poured with a step out our back
sliding glass doors and two steps to our front porch re-done as after 14 years
as they cracked and left a gap from the stoop. You can tell they all care about
the work they do. One thing that was very important to us is that we wanted rounded
corners, and we wanted to put our handprints in the patio. They wait until the
exact time so we could each put our prints when the concrete was ready. They
even helped us snap a picture when doing the handprints.
Tom and his team went so far above and beyond our
expectations. We were thoroughly satisfied which is what drove us to write a
    stellar review.
Two weeks later we re-hired Tom to drill anchors for our gazebo
and install j-channel on the siding. They took extra steps to measure to make
sure everything was the same distance all the way around from the edge before
drilling. They informed us of the size of the screw driver needed in the event
we later wanted to remove the gazebo ourselves. He even gave us extra set of concrete
screws. This is going above and beyond as they did not have to do that, but
they did as they care. The holes are small so if we ever decide to change the
size of the gazebo the holes are easy to fill in and cover.
Tom, we are so pleased with you and your crew?s work that in
the future when we need work done we will be calling you again and we will be
recommending you to our family and friends.
In talking with Tom and Zack we learned they do much more that concrete.
We will be hiring them in the future to help cut, frame, and install a door out
the back of our garage. I feel that the overall level of care and attention
that you provided it was like you were pouring your own patio. Thanks a million
Tom and your guys ? you do incredible work and we would never go with anyone
    else but Tom?s Construction.

  • Steve and Brian were very curteous, informative, and did a great job overall.  Although they were the highest bid (not by much), the execution and additional features provided was worth the additional price.  They offered features other concrete contractors did not, including cutting the curb down to near street level and using the Ozinga Shield concrete that includes the sealer.  In my situation, going with the other preferred concrete contractor (who was about $400 cheaper) would have required that I apply a sealer in 90 days that ran about $200, plus I wouldn't have got the cut curb, which is a nice feature.  Sammson used good stone, went down far enough to ensure a good foundation, used a wire mesh reinforcement, and poured the concrete to around 5 inches to ensure strength. Their bids included all the needed information to ensure a quality job.  They were great with communication and were very presonable and friendly.  Steve also provided me with the receipt from Ozinga at the time of the pour, so that I could verify that the product I was quoted for was the same quality product I was receiving, which I greatly appreciated, as it speaks to his honestly and transparency of pricing.  Do your research, shop around and get other quotes, but make sure you take everything into consideration when selecting your concrete contractor. You definitely get what you pay for, so don't just go with the lowest price, especially when it comes to concrete; it's a substantial investment and you don't want to have to come back and do it again just to save a few hundred bucks the first time around.  Sammson provides a good quality product, installation, and additional features that substantiate the higher cost. I will definitely being using Sammson again when it comes time to replace the rest of the driveway.
