My cedar deck's deterioration was getting to the point where I was no longer going to waste money on stain. My neighbor had gotten a price to do a brick paver patio from Arrowhead Brick Pavers. I called up, and made an appointment with Jim, one of the owners a year ago. Jim walked us through all of the selections in the Unilock catalog. Unilock has come a long way with their products, and there were a variety of great looking options to choose from. Jim drew up a plan for the new patio, and priced the work. Surprisingly it was not too much more than a new wood deck, and I will never have to stain it again! We called Jim back a year later. He held his price, and we negotiated a few other small items. I work in construction, and one problem I have always had with residential contractors is scheduling, showing up, and staying through completion of the work. Arrowhead calls you to schedule the work, and they call and notify you if they need to leave or won't be showing up do to rain etc. Jim has a smart phone and we stayed in contact through texting and phone calls. I felt that there was terrific communication through the whole process. I would say I was a difficult client, and Jim worked with me through completion. Arrowhead has a 3 year warranty. Our job is finished and we are very pleased. I plan to do the driveway and walkup in brick pavers in a few years and will use Arrowhead again. Give them a call.

    Distinctive Edge
Kevin and his crew are all pros and just the type of people you would want to do your job. From the first phone call to the day the job was finished, Distinctive Edge was A+. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for this type of service.

They did a very good job. I cant complain about the work. I moved everything that I felt like would be in there way or they didn't need to be around a head of time and one of the workers took something very sentimental to me. I really burned me up, because it wasn't in there work way. They did great work, I would give them an A on the work, they were on time. Just keep and eye out of your things and make sure you remove anything valuable out of site.

Professional I gave an F rating for on worker due to theft.

    Cuttin Edge
Wow! And not in a good way...
I can't speak to this company's lawn-mowing capabilities, but if you're looking to have any brush-clearing work done, run in the opposite direction.
The owner's girlfriend, Brittany, answer's the phone as "Blake's Secretary" -- don't be fooled. Also, I use the word "owner" loosely, because it appears from the ILSOS's Cyberdrive website (and Blake's refusal to answer if they were an LLC, a S-corp or any other type of corporate entity) that they're just running as Blake calling himself "Cuttin Edge".
I do acres of brushclearing myself on my own property and have more equipment than time. Bush hogs, ECHO SRM-410, various types of chainsaws for different types of jobs, the whole nine yards. But being short on time, I've been checking out some local services this year.
When Blake came out, I told him about my own brushclearing experience and equipment and what my quality expectations were and that, essentially, if he wanted to throw his hat into the ring, this was an audition for his company to get more work.
Without naming names, I've used a few other contractors already. Some have been better than others (and I'll do reviews of them, too, in good time). But none have been worse than Cuttin Edge. In fact, Cuttin Edge was so horrible, I'm not wasting any time writing a review of them in hopes of saving a few other Yelpers the headache of a terrible experience.
I was very explicit when Blake came out to bid the job. I chose a clearly defined berm because there could be no ambiguity about what work was to be performed, what area was to be cleared, etc. Also, there was already a burn pit next to this berm, so it would allow me to evaluate their ability to stack burn piles that fall in on themselves and continue to burn without requiring restacking (as is the case with brushpiles built by people inexperienced at building these -- I've built hundreds 20+ feet tall for what that's worth).
Blake assured me that he and his crew knew how to stack burn piles so that there was nothing other than rake-into-the-center clean-up required (which is how all of mine turn out). He was to clear this berm on both sides down to the foot on both sides. And the work was to be done to raked-clean conditions.
Blake said he wanted 10 labor hours at $40/hour to do this work. I asked him how far he could get in that amount of time given my quality specifications. He pointed to a shed and told me about that far.
I will post some pictures of they way Blake and the Cuttin Edge crew (which appeared to be his high-school friends and seemed to have even less experience than Blake himself) left behind as their finished work product. In a word: Pathetic.
They only did halfway up the berm, not both sides. And of those two sides, they only did the easier of the two sides. The berm was not left in raked-clean condition. And the burnpile is about as far from properly stacked as one could make it -- the branches were all laid in on the horizontal, so what's left behind is a burned-out center surrounded by something resembling a crown-of-thorns made for a giant.
Moreover, I was here observing Blake and his crew for most of the 2-1/2 hours they were onsite. His guys chewed through labor time going back and forth 1,000+ feet every few minutes to grab 12 oz bottles of water and tools they'd forgotten...all of which could easily have been brought to the jobsite in half a wheelbarrow. As for his tools, Blake didn't have anything resembling the right tools for the job. He had a combo weedeater that was underpowered (and continued to break-down) for spinning a brushblade. I'm not sure how many of the 10 labor hours went into water breaks, fixing tools, standing around, lacksidaisically walking 2,000+ feet roundtrip to Blake's truck, etc.
To make matters worse, last year, I did the exact section on the exact half-side of the berm Blake and his friends did. I used my DR 20 horsepower self-propelled brush mower with the heavy duty brush blade and knocked it out by myself in just under two hours.
Today, I brought Blake out to look at his shoddy work. His only response was, "I'm sorry you're dissatisfied, but we put in 10 labor hours" and then he presented me with an invoice for $400.00.
I don't think the work he and his crew did is worth $0.00, but it's not worth $400.00 by a long shot. It's going to take more than that of my own time just to clean-up the mess at the burnpile that Cuttin Edge made.
I told Blake that, as a business owner myself, what I would do is come back, finish the job and make it right. But Blake said he'd want to bill more time for that. When I told Blake that I would pay him something for the work done, but not the full $400.00 because he didn't do what he promised he could, he told me that it didn't matter what they did or didn't get done or what the quality was or whether I was going to have to either put in my own time or hire someone else to clean-up his mess and finish a job that he started but couldn't get done. All that mattered, he told me, was that he "have to pay my guys".
Well, no, Blake, that's not "all that matters". Pride in workmanship matters. Being the "buck stops here guy" as an owner matters. Seeing jobs through to the end that you bid on even if, midway through, you realize you're in over your skis matters.
To close things out, Blake told me he's going to take me to court and "it's going to cost you money". Well, Blake, this ain't my first rodeo.

    Arborworks LLC
Great company, with knowledable certified arborists both in the field and in the office. A company that has embraced the internet! Responds quickly to emails. We had some trees pruned back around our house and 3 trees removed, and their stumps ground, for 3 replacement trees. The reason for this review is that I had purchased 2 of the replacement trees from an ornamental tree grower and wholesaler. I had scheduled their delivery and installation for Monday 9/10/12. The stumps of the old trees were scheduled to be ground on Friday 9/7/12. Well it rained, Friday morning, and they called it off for good reason. They did not want to destroy my yard with the heavy stump grinder in the muddy conditions. This was going to mess up my schedule, and some of the replacement trees had just been pulled from the ground and I wanted to get them back into the ground as quickly as possible. Conditions cleared up, and Arborworks made it back out to our yard and were able to ground our stumps. Our other trees were planted on schedule. I did purchase an armstrong maple from arborworks, and it was supposed to be around 14' tall, it is probably 16-18 ft tall and gorgeous. Overall great experience. I called a few other arborists, and they did not have anyone answering the phones, and were slow to return calls. Sue at Arborworks, seems to be the receptionist or office manager and always follows up quickly with a response from the arborists on staff. Their tech savy website, allows you to pay with e-check or credit card. My wife and I will use them again.

I have used them twice already. I used them once before to plant a tree for me because the tree I had died last year and they came out and replaced it for free, under warranty. They have done a great job. I rate them highly. I will use them again in the future if needed.

L E Weber Inc Tree Service
Mr. Weber,  a certified arborist,  and his able assistant did this tree trimming job, following my instructions.  I checked on them periodically over the time frame they were here (1.5 hours), giving further direction or approving what had been done.   They cleaned up the yard and driveway, the staging area for feeding the wood chipper a banquet of tree parts.

I am pleased with their performance and with the appearance of the trees, as well as being able to walk under them with no longer getting slapped in the face by tree  branches.

P.S. I gave them a "good"  rating on price, because I have no other estimates from other companies with which to compare.   The final price was the same as the estimate.  I have used this company in the past and was satisfied.

    JL Tree Services
I have had JL Tree Service out to my home 3 times in the last several months. The above mentioned work was done in 3 stages due to the renovation schedual of my home and yard. Each time JL did work for me, it was a perfect experience. They are amazingly good at what they do, very professional and very careful to take good care of your property as they work. Jose, the owner is a great guy. Very bright, very professional and an all around pleasure to deal with. I also think their prices are excellent compared to the other bids I received. You cannot go wrong with these guys!

    Clark Irrigation Systems
I love this company. I am currently renovating my home and yard and have had Clark Irrigation out on two different occasions. They are professional, polite, and their prices are very reasonable. Steve has been in the business for many years and knows exactly what he's doing. Unlike other companies I had bid on the work, they do not try to up-sell you on additional work that you don't need. I referred them to my Brother and he had a great experience too. I will be using them again in the very near future when I have a water line run into my courtyard.
