    Buford's Painting & Cleaning Services
I bought the $99 Angie's List deal from Buford Painting. It was for $300 worth of painting work and had restrictions of ceiling height, no trim, doors, or windows, and I had to provide the paint. It took a few days for us to get in contact to set up a time. The Buford's went on vacation and called a few days after they got back to set up an appointment. In total, it was about two
weeks after I purchased the deal before they came out for the consultation. They also got lost on their way to my house, stating they weren't familiar with the area, and they were about half hour later than the scheduled appointment time. The company has a local address. When they got there they seemed a bit confused by what I was requesting. They may have just been very thorough, but I was getting the impression they weren't sure what they were doing. They didn't remember the restrictions of the Angie's List Big Deal and had to look at it a few times. I reminded them there was a ceiling restriction, but that I would be willing to pay any additional charges for that. They kept referring to the trim, stating it would be easier for them to paint the trim rather than tape it off. I reminded them that the coupon stated the trim wasn't included but that whatever was easier for them was my preference. It was odd to me that they said it would be easier to paint the trim because that way they wouldn't need to go out and buy the painters tape, which was included in the deal. It seems odd to me that a professional painter wouldn't already have painters point. After looking at the hallway for about 15 minutes they said they had what they needed and would get back to me with the price adjustment. Upon leaving after the appointment, they even told me it wouldn't be and quot;much moreand quot;. It was about a week later before they called to tell me that it would be an additional $65 for the painting because of the trim and the ceiling height. This seemed a bit much to me, and again there was an additional delay in their reply. The way I looked at it the coupon was for $300 worth of work from a professional painter. They were selling these services as an Angie's List Big Deal for $99. Then they wanted an additional $65 for the additional work outside of the coupons parameters and of course I would still have to buy the paint myself, I'm assuming 2 gallons @ $25/gallon. So this means to paint a staircase hallway and trim with two coats, without the coupon, would have been an out-of-pocket cost to me of $300 + $65 + $50 = $480! This seems like a LOT to me to paint a hallway. Even with the coupon it would still cost me $99 + $65 + $50 = $214 to have my hallway painted. I only said I wanted the trim painted because they said it would be easier for them, therefore I assumed not much more as they stated. Well, in my opinion 65% more than the cost of the coupon is a significant amount more. During the phone conversation where I was told it would be $65 more I stated this seemed like a bit much to me and that I didn't think it would be much more since I only wanted the trim painted because they said it would be easier. After some additional conversation and I expressed that I didn't want to continue with their services they then offered to do it for an additional $45. At that point I told them it was no longer about the cost but was at the point where I was doubting their services. I told them I did not feel comfortable continuing because of the delays it took, because the additional costs, that when they were doing the initial appointment they were late, and that the whole thing combined was very odd and off putting to me and I was uncomfortable continuing. They did state that they would do what they needed to getting it right, ensure I wasn't out any money, and apologized for the delays. They also mentioned this was the 1st Angie's Deal coupon they had to bid on and were unsure of how it worked. They called Angie's List to find out how I could be refunded and actually called me back a couple hours after I had this conversation with them and told me I would need to go through Angie's List. I did tell Buford's Painting that I would be writing about this experience and putting it on Angie's List and would be truthful
I called Angie's List to be refunded and found out that Angie's List will solicit other companies to honor this deal. While they couldn't find anyone for me at that time, it was a nice aspect of Angie's List Big Deals I wasn't aware of. They refunded my money and even offered to help me with other projects. The whole process moved very quickly and I was refunded my money, including while they looked for other companies to honor it, in less than a week.

    Update 10/28/2014:
Buford Painting did contact me again on October 27, 2014, but not to resolve anything. She called to discuss my review on Angie's List. I am not one of those people who will never be satisfied and do not appreciate being called that in their response. I just expect a certain level of professionalism from companies. You may check my previous reviews to verify I give credit where it's due and provide factual information when it's not up to par. However, in this case I would like to state my personal opinion, and that is that the Buford's had no idea what they were signing up for with the Big Deal on Angie's List. The deal stated it was a $300 value for $99 provided to Angie's List customers. Mrs. Buford had no idea what I was talking about and she told me in the phone call that she didn't know what the incentive was for their company if they would do $300 worth of work for only $99. Their incentive should be to get business for their company, and in turn satisfied customers will provide positive comments on Angie's List. As a business you should know what you're offering when you run these promotions. Angie's List Big Deal's function the same way as coupons and I don't know why this idea was foreign to Buford Painting and Cleaning Services.

I would like to mention, again, that the Buford's told me it would be easier for them to paint the trim than to tape around it for painting. That was their recommendation, not mine. During the consultation I repeatedly stated that I didn't need the trim painted and would do it if it was easier for them.

Mrs. Buford is upset that I used the word vacation instead of funeral. I apologize, but either way they were out of town. This isn't where the problem was, it was in customer satisfaction, not in the usage of a word in my review. I believe the company should be more concerned with customer satisfaction, providing the services listed in their proposal (i.e. The Big Deal from Angie's List),and they shouldn't be late and state they don't know their way around town when their business is a local address. Towards the conclusion of this phone call Mrs. Buford asked me to remove my review from Angie's List. I can't help but think the Buford's were just ill informed of what they posted on Angie's List and don't know how the Angie's List review works. I will leave my review and let future customers determine the level of service they receive.

Lastly, I have blocked the Buford's from calling my personal cell phone number. I request that if Buford Painting and Cleaning Services needs to contact me they do so by responding through this post or via my Angie's List account which will forward to my personal email account. I have no further information to add to this review and would like to move forward.

    J & H Painting
I was amazed at the honesty and the quality of the work. He could have charged us for painting, but was honest enough to tell us a less expensive way to go. We bought the replacement shutters and Heath came out and put them up for us. I have been impressed with the work J & H Painting does -- I enjoy the photos on their Facebook page. I was even more impressed by the friendly advice, the honesty, and the professionalism of his work. Heath is a very nice man, and it's so refreshing to find someone in the home improvement industry that we can trust.
I will use J & H Painting from now on as my first choice when I have painting and home decorating projects to be done.
    Very happy!

    J & J Painting
My husband contacted Jand J via their website. He received an email reply, and sent them a deposit. Then we heard nothing. We had no idea when someone was showing up. I just happened to be home when a young man came to the house. He never rang the doorbell. Never announced he was here. I walked outside to ask who he was.I then asked him to look at the wall he was going to power wash, so we were talking about the correct wall. He was getting ready to work on a different wall of the house! He also did a very quick, and not very thorough job. My neighbor's father happened to be here, and saw the young man's job. He told me and quot;If you paid him a dollar, you paid him 99 cents too muchand quot;. Another employee had to come back and power wash the wall again. Then 2 employees did come paint the wall. The paint job was done well. I would have them back, but I think their communication needs much improvement.
