    Cuttin' It Close
I hired Cuttin It Close to remove a aluminum patio overhang. Since the cement underneath slanted toward the house, I asked if they also did cement work. They said they did and had done many jobs in the past. They wanted payment after taking out the old cement patio and the overhang. The cost was $1,750.00. Then after that they wanted payment of $975.00 for the cement because they had been burned in the past when after ordering the customer cancelled. The request for the $975.00 was not in the original contract agreement. They poured the cement and did the worst job that two professional contractors have ever seen. The owner stated he would add two inches to the cement. That would not be a good fix since the area between the old and new cement would cause cracks due to freezing and thawing during the winter months. Note from one contractor stated that " In regards to your patio that was poured on the 5th of August, the surface of the patio is as you can see beyond acceptable in any standards. You had mentioned that they wanted to come back to cap it. Adding a layer of ready mix over an existing slab is not recommended for a couple of reasons, 1 given the freeze thaw cycle of our climate in this area gives way for moisture to accumulate in between the two layers therefore allowing for that moisture to freeze in the winter time and separate the two layers causing heaving of the top layer, and will break apart in that process. More importantly is the expectation of getting quality work done to ensure the longevity of your investment. If placed properly, finished properly, joint cuts put in timely, will bring desired results. Unfortunately in my opinion your only option at the this time would be to have the patio torn back out, and replaced using an experienced contractor" Another contractor stated that "work showed abhorrent signs of inexperience for basic concrete procedures, patio not screens for drainage, expansion joints around the house were completely wrong and finally there were no control joints and no finish". He never offered to pay me for the cement or the money to take out the old cement.. He also did not wash down the cement by the curb.

Matt was delayed by rain but started promptly when it was dry enough.  He coordinated well ahead of the work and informed me regularly during the job.  Matt & his assistant were pleasant and professional.  I recommend him highly!

    Behncke Construction Inc.
This is the company to go to for anything related to basements. Our basement walls were bowing and we were getting water in the basement. They installed steel beams to stop the movement of the walls and put in a drainage system. They were great to work with, and we couldn't be happier with the quality of the work. They saved the value of our home!

    TAYLOR GARAGES INC
I contacted Taylor Garages in September about the work I wanted done. Frank Beshears made the preliminary calculations and measurements. He came to my home and looked over the site made suggestions and learned exactly what it was I wanted done. He then wrote up the contract and I signed it that day. They would get all the necessary permits and I would reimburse them. I wrote a check for half the cost with the remainder to be paid upon completion of the work. He said the work should be done by the end of October. Unfortunately he was a bit off on that calculation. It was not until the third week in November that they began work. Although I was getting somewhat concerned about the weather by the middle of November, Mother Nature was kind and the weather was good through November. The actual work was subcontracted to Sooner Construction. When Sooner arrived they looked over the site and noted some drainage problems that would be caused by my original plan and made suggestions to alleviate these problems which I approved. They then got busy. Occasionally they would knock on the door and ask about how I wanted them to handle various minor problems that arose as the job progressed. It took two days to remove the old material and prepare the site and forms to pour the new concrete which was then poured on the third day. The fourth day the crew removed the forms, back filled around the new concrete and cleaned up the site. By the end of the week I had my new driveway, sidewalk and patio done. That weekend Frank stop by and looked over the work with me and I paid him the outstanding balance and for the permits. Other than the late start I was very satisfied with the work done and the way I was treated by both Taylor and the subcontractor. The work was well done, they asked for and listened to my input and followed my wishes to the letter. I had Taylor build my garage four years ago and they did an outstanding job at that time as well. I would definitely recommend them for any construction work you may want done.

    Elite Concrete
It has gone very well! I was very pleased. We set up a tentative date which depended on the weather. The owner, Kyle said he would call and he did. They started the job promptly when they said they would. I am very pleased with the work. They didn't leave a mess, they took good care of my plants. I will also say that he gave the best bid of the three companies that I called.

    LITTLE DICKENS INC
All I can say about Little Dickens is "WOW!" I called him on Monday to ask if he could give me an estimate for part of our driveway to be replaced. He came that day giving a very reasonable estimate and came the next day at 10:00 AM to start the work. They finished the job in five hours leaving a beautiful, smooth, perfect cement slab. They were also very friendly and the owner even helped us shovel some lava rock and took it away for us. Above anything I expected. Imagine calling someone and getting a pretty big job done in less than 24 hours! Unreal!

    Costello Construction
They started about a month before they finished. This was very understandable my yard was a mud pit when they started. The first thing they did was fought through the mud and got a trench dug to let all the water out. Then they came back about a week later and cleaned up the sides of the trench with a skid-loader, it was still pritty muddy so they told me to wait another week to put in the drain tile. They then asked if I wanted to get the drain tile or if i wanted them to pick it up. I said I would get it and they told me farm@fleet was the cheapest. The next week they came with a load of rock and started to get the drain tile down and then rock on top this took a half day. The other half of the day they covered the drain tile and rock with fabric and then dirt it was starting to look really nice. The next day they came with a jeep that pulled a harrow behind it and two guys raked where the jeep wasn't able to get. Then they asked me sod or seed and said the seed is cheaper but isn't instant I went with seed. It looks great

    Behncke Construction Inc.
The construction workers tore up old concrete at the end of my driveway and replaced it with new concrete at a different lower angle so my car wouldn't drag on it.  They replaced 3 sheets of sidewalk and the curb.  These workers have done other jobs at my house under the owner's supervision.  I have always found everyone to be courteous.  Concrete work is weather dependent. The previous owner refused to overbook and have too many projects going at once.  His crew completed the jobs though sometimes end dates were extended.  I consider it professional when a company like Behncke Construction refuses to rush a job and thus lower the quality.
