    Prairie State Siding & window
I worked with Josh who explained the process of placing new windows and what to expect. He reviewed many options and I chose the Elite series window which has saved me money each month on my energy bill. I also love off a busy road and the new windows even reduce the noise level as cara drive by! The windows were installed just two weeks after they were ordered and the workers had them in within two days. Josh called to make sure I was happy with their services. I really enjoyed my experience with this company as they care about their customers!

A storm with horizontal rain and high winds last week caused water to come through a double-pane two-part picture window with an arched top, high up in our 2-story living room. As long as we had owned the house, there had been a pressure crack in the inner pane of the upper arched portion, but the condensation that resulted never seemed too much of a concern, But when water started coming in then dripping onto the lower sill and splattering out over a large area of the room, we couldn't tell if it was coming thru the crack, through the junction of the two parts of the window, or somewhere else. As soon as the worst of the wind and rain finished it stopped, but we had already gotten out a ladder and rigged up a container to catch the dripping.  Upon inspection, it became apparent by the discoloration of the surrounding sill and trim that this may have happened before.  I called a lot of places to see about fixing the window, but all of the local companies said they wouldn't touch a window that they hadn't installed, so my only option was replacement.  And the company that had put the windows in when the house was built said there was a 3 week wait before the carpenters would even be able to set an appointment to come out to do an estimate, let alone do the work!
Luckily I had also called Tom, and he happened to be the first appointment.  Aside from being early and getting right down to business, he was very friendly and explained everything in great detail.  After taking a look, he went ahead and ran some caulk where the two parts of the window met there was a slight gap.  He said the window was structurally sound, the issue is with the surrounding trim, so there was no reason for replacement. Offered some ideas on where else the water may be getting in, a gable vent, but it was unlikely, and as it would mean ripping out part of the ceiling to inspect, unless it happens again, there's no reason to go there yet.
Now to go cancel the other appointments I made, all of which seem to be high pressure salesman that are requiring both of us sit thru a 90 minute presentation!

    Vance Remodeling and Restoration
I contacted Vance Remodeling and Restoration for an estimate on replacing windows in an enclosed porch. Jim Vance is the owner of the business, and he met with me personally to look at the project. He was prompt, courteous and professional in meeting with me to look at the project, and provided me with an estimate for the job the day after he and I met to look at the project. His price was extremely reasonable, and we signed a contract for the project a few days later. Because the windows were not standard sizes, the materials cost was paid in advance so that the windows could be special ordered. As soon as the windows arrived, I received a call to schedule installation. Mr. Vance arrived on time and the windows were installed on Saturday February 5th as anticipated. The work was done professionally and meticulously; the area was cleaned up afterward and I would not have known anyone had been on site, except for the fact that there are new windows installed on the porch. The windows look great, and the tenant of the house is thrilled with the results, as am I as the owner of the house. I plan to have Vance Remodeling and Restoration come back to further update the porch in the spring with a fresh coat of paint and new carpet on the interior of the porch. I have also spoken with Jim about doing some interior painting on this same house for me in the next several weeks. I have only positive comments about this project, the end results, and the contractor.

They're great people. They cleaned up, they showed up on time, and they did what they said they'd do. I like their communication. They let us know when they were coming and they were there when they said they would be. They cleaned up more than what I thought they were going to clean up.

Renewal by Andersen of Central Illinois
They were very responsive but the workmanship left a bit to be desired. I like the product and possibly will use them again in the future if needed.
