    Miller Construction IL
Our home was built by Miller Construction IL and was completed February 2016. This was the first home we have had built, so we have limited perspective. However, there were some issues that we felt were major and warranted a review. Some of the main issues were as follows: The home was not (and still isn't) insulated completely, the roof had multiple leaks (that were detected by us) and they were repaired correctly only after we hired our own inspector who identified incorrectly installed flashing, they were using roofing paper as our wood floor underlayment- Miller Construction did remove and replace it after we notified them that per the MSDS, it should only be used outside and had class 1A carcinogenic chemicals in it , we were misinformed about the severity of a water leak in the master bathroom when the plumbing was tested and became aware that it was more severe when the ceiling below that bathroom was sagging with water, lumber with evidence of mold was used in the framing, and we had to hire someone to clean our ducts because they were not protected during drywall sanding so they were full of drywall dust. Overall, we felt that there was poor oversight of the subcontractors as we felt that these and other problems were only caught because we were at the job site often. Finally, we are over 8 months after the expiration of our 1 year warranty period and are still waiting for items to be repaired that were agreed upon before the end of the warranty period. We have also found the communication put forth by the owner extremely poor. Update: Due to our review, Miller Construction IL (name changed on the BBB to New Homes IL at the time of this writing) has refused to proceed with ANY of the remaining agreed upon warranty obligations unless we sign an agreement that would censor any reviews we write. We do not feel that this is an appropriate request, so we are going to pay out of pocket to finish insulating our home and to complete the other warranty items. This will cost us over $2000. We do realize that during the building process, issues will arise and for the most part, Miller Construction eventually addressed most of the issues. They were receptive to our input and the staff was friendly and helpful during the building process. We are disappointed with this outcome and wish that Miller Construction IL would realize that the best way to avoid negative reviews is to provide good communication, contractor oversight and workmanship.

Drug it out all fall. Every issue was always "we will come back later and fix that". Delay after delay. They were slow and left one person doing a job and he wasn't a true employee. He was cash on the side who then brought out other people that were paid by the non employee. Sketchy work schedule and he didn't know what one day to the next would go on at my site. He failed to take responsibility as a general contractor for the concrete sub contractors work. Took advantage of me as a person with a physical disability that uses a wheelchair. Took and damaged tools that were not his. Trespassed even when he was notified not to do so.

    Aloha Construction, Inc.
Aloha Construction is AWESOME!!! After a Hail Storm, I needed my home and garage roofs replaced....They were easy to work with, got the work done quickly and professionally. They did  everything they were supposed to! Alison was great to deal with, she explained the process of getting my roof done so I knew what to expect and she kept in touch with me, answering any and all questions I had. Their crew was in and out in one day, with the exception of another crew coming out and putting on all the gutters, which was also done quickly!  I would recommend them to EVERYONE I know!!! You can't go wrong with them! They also did quite a few homes around me and everyone was very pleased!! Call them for your roofing needs!!!!

    Hall Construction
They did an excellent job!!  It's a father son operation, and they are extremely polite and willing
to take on ANY job and do it well.   We have never been so happy with the job and the people.
Recommend without reservations.  Contact well ahead of planned job as they are very busy.

    FREEMAN REMODELING
I have sent him the $250 that I promised was the most expensive bid that I received.   He sent it back to me and stated No, but No Thanks and that he no longer is willing to charge the $400 now.   He is only Willing to charge the $800+ to the original contractor and is looking into court proceedings.
Any questions please call me 217-714-4428

    Promax Construction
We had a great feeling from the moment we met John during our consultation and, even though Promax was a little more expensive then our other options, we chose Promax because John was just as excited about the project as us and we knew we would get great quality.  The original estimate for completion was three weeks, but it took two weeks and two days.  The last two days were only needed due to a design decision delay on my end.  If I had made a decision earlier, I feel confident all of the work would have been completed in 2 weeks.
Promax does most of the work themselves, but they do sub-contract for some of their services.  Geno was in charge of our project and he did an excellent job communicating when people would be here and any changes/updates that needed to occur.  Every single person who came to our house was friendly and professional.  Everyone cleaned up after themselves and they dealt really well with our two cats and our two small children, who were here for the last two days of work.
Promax is not necessarily the least expensive option, but I believe that you get what you pay for and the quality of work that we have is amazing.  We get so many great comments on everything that has been done and we have a lot of people ask us for contact information.  I am hard pressed to find one piece of the renovation that is my favorite, but the 7 foot wide barn door that Promax built and installed is truly stunning and quite the masterpiece of our basement.
I would most definitely recommend Promax to anyone who needs renovations done and when we plan any work in the future, I know exactly who we will call first.

    ARMSTRONG CONSTRUCTION
We merged three home design plans based on their ability to take on custom plans design and add the features that we wanted and stay within our price range.  We were looking for unique materials and we had Armis wood custom cabinets, flooring and things like that we were not able to find in this Mid Western area.  They did a good job with our price range.  Paul made it a very smooth process.  He laid out everything that we should do that we needed to get accomplished first and set us up with the subcontractor to meet with.  He had things organised and kept us on schedule.  It went very smooth as best as we could.  I am very particular so it went very well.  We had some things to fix and to repair but I think that is to be expected for a totally customized plan that has never been built before.  We were very happy.  We did have a great follow up after wards.  I think he did a great job and we respect him.  He is very honest.  He had our interest at heart.  I think he went over and beyond what he had to do.  I think that the custom homes that he built at this price point  are above what some of his other constructions are.  So it depends on at what price point you are.  Price wise I think we did very well.  Quality wise there were some things he could have done better.

    NEW CREATIONS CONTRACTING
The owner of New Creations stalled giving an estimate and suggested doing the job on time and material. He told me his hourly rates.  The rates seemed fair, he was openly religious and I have never been cheated by a contractor so I agreed and signed his multipage time and material contract.  The workers were cordial, tried hard and completed the work . I like them so much and was so pleased with their work that I gave each of them what I considered to be a generous tip. About a month after the job was completed I received a bill from New Creations. The bil was a shock to me because it contained what I thought to be wildly exaggerated worker hours, material lists and extra charges. I expressed my surprise with the bill and asked him to simply have the workers sign the material list so that I could be sure that the materials he listed were actually used on my job.  I also asked him to have his workers sign off that they actually worked the hours that I was being charged. He responded with an angry eight-page letter. He refused to allow his workers to sign off on the hourly charges or the materialist. Since I have never disputed a contractors charges before, I found this to be a very disturbing experience. I finally just wrote him a check so I could get some peace of mind.

    Cramer Siding & Window
Once they get their money, forget about any followups on warranty, repair or punch lists. We gave them a punch list when we signed (a few things were done) and figured that whatever they don't fix on the initial punch list, they can fix them on the one-year walk-through. Well, a year came and went, and they did nothing. The father (who runs the paint dept.) did the walk through and was like a complete space cadet. He said he would get a repaint done, but never did. They also use the cheapest things they can find. If you look at the paint, it marks.... there were nail pops everywhere and leaks everywhere, hard wood floors type sucks, doors don't fit properly, windows are missing screens.... lights don't work!!! Run, and don't look back if you see Cramer building your home.
