Mike and his son talked to my husband about the condition of the stone wall and what needed to be done. Mile is very knowledgeable and took time to explain what he would be doing before he began. Mike made the repairs, remortored, and caulked. The wall looks great. He and his son cleaned up before they left.

Crew showed up on time for a Saturday appointment. They cleaned and inspected and showed me pictures of areas of disrepair. The exterior of the chimney had bricks cracking and flaking off, the crown was cracked, and there was a small crack in the fireplace. I was also missing a flue cap on both my fireplace flue and furnace flue. In addition to the $99 cleaning/inspection fee, I paid $216 for a new fireplace flue cap and filling of the fireplace crack. Seemed a tad high since they were already there, but not too out of whack with market standards. They did try to push some more expensive options and convince us to spend more money but tactics weren't too pushy. Mostly just recommendations that we didn't take at the time.

Jim, the owner, came to my home and I explained the scope of work.  We discussed paver and design options. He emailed me the design and estimate the very next day.  I went with this contractor because his quote was $4000 less than the quote from another contractor.  Jim also offered more design options and improvements than the previous contractor.  A few days later, Jim brought over samples and we fine tuned the design.  He had good suggestions on the design and use of accent pavers to achieve a visual "Wow".  We discussed when the work would begin.
Jim took care of getting the building permits from the Village.
Work started on a Monday.  (He did send a crew on the previous Thursday to remove the old wooden deck.)  The crew arrived promptly at 8 AM.  Jim was also there and introduced me to his foreman for this job.  By the first day, the patio was a third installed.  The concrete driveway was removed on Wednesday.  On Thursday, the crew finished installing the pavers for the patio and began the installing the driveway pavers.  On  Friday, the carpenters came to install the cedar pergola for the patio and the crew worked on the 8' x 6' patio and the driveway.  Although Jim told me that they would complete the work on the following Tuesday, all of the work was done on the following Monday.
Jim came to my home at the beginning and end of every work day.  We walked around the work that had been done, we discussed the progress of the installation and he answered all of my concerns.
The crew was always prompt, polite, and were tolerant of my barking dog that did not like strangers around his house.  They cleaned up the site every day before they left ,and were polite if I had any questions or concerns during the installation.  They installed sod around the patios and driveway to cover the disturbed dirt around the installations.
All removed debris was recycled.  The driveway, patio, pergola and small patio all look great.  Some of my neighbors have told me that they have "house envy" now.

They were very timely and they did a great job of cleaning up.  They were very professional.  We were really happy with the service.  It was very nice.  They did some high quality work on the chimney.  I don’t have any complaints.

    Affordable Tuckpointing Pros LLC
Affordable Tuckpointing Pros did a great job fixing our chimney issues at a good price. They are very nice and I would hire them again.
My only suggestion is that they bring brick samples to the customer rather than expecting them to drive to a brickyard to pick from thousands of options. If they had brought the brick samples to my house in October, we could have made the decision and had all the work done by early Dec.
    Details of job:
The bricks at the top of the chimney were crumbling so they came out and looked in the chimney and examined the outside (Oct. 11).  They provided me with a great option to fix the immediate problems rather than replacing the entire chimney.  No high pressure sales which I appreciated.  I received the quote the same day via email.  The only inconvenient thing that happened was matching the bricks and this held up getting the job done by 2 months.  They sent me a couple pictures, but then said the one that looked to be the best match wasn't available. So they told me to go to a brick yard (which had very limited daytime/weekday hours) to try to match the brick. The one near my house didn't have many options.  The big brick yard was very far away.  I tried the one nearby but even that place had too many bricks and no samples of the style from the pictures that Affordable emailed to me.  WIthout samples from my chimney, it was not possible for them to show me options at the brickyard.  The Affordable folks did finally bring 3-4 samples to my house and we made a decision in 5 seconds when we put them next to the brick on the fireplace.
We had to wait a couple weeks for the bricks and an open time for the workers, but they got the first phase of the job done in 1.5 days in mid Dec.  They had to leave 2x4 boards around the cement crown for a couple weeks for it to set before they could finish the job of putting the chimney caps on.  Because of terrible winter weather, they were not able to come and finish that until March.
    The chimney looks great.

    Brick Transformers
Brick Transformers were on time and did a great and detailed job. They undercut my fireplace into a half of whatever it was and made it perfect. Heis just not a painter but a trained person who can transform your fireplace. I would definitely use them in future and have also recommended him to others.

    Midland Masonry Inc
I was concerned about the structural integrity of the walkway so I had a structural engineer look at it who basically said that he could not tell what was going on with the brick wall and walkway until you start taking it apart. Jimmy came out and looked at the project and agreed with the engineer, it could be a cosmetic fix or you might have to replace the steel. Once the steel was exposed Jimmy called so I could view the steel to see why it needed to be replaced. I was going to have them install a 40 ft metal railing to replace the brick wall. Angelo thought it would be better to put up brick piers every 6 feet and attach the railing to the piers in order to anchor the railings better. They replaced the concrete that had deteriorated from the concrete slabs, as well as added bricks that were missing from the building. The crew cleaned up at the end of everyday. Jimmy, Angelo and the whole crew were always accommodating and professional people to work with. I have had so many compliments on how beautiful it looks as well as what a great job Midland Masonry did. This was my second time using them and will definitely use them again. They are a wonderful company to work with.

They arrived on time and prepare the area to protect our plants before they started on the chimney repair.  They had to replace several bricks and tuck point ( with an unusual grout color)  The  bricks and mortar match perfectly.  You would have never known any   repair had been done.  Great job!

    Superior Chimney Services Corporation
They were very knowledgable and did good work, but...I think it was way too expensive (even wth 15% angies list discount).  They were only working for about 2 hours with 2 workers - and there wasn't that much material being used, other than the chimney caps which only amounted to $400 of the total invoice.  The other thing that bothered us was they called us 4 times during the day before they came over (wanting to make sure someone would be at the home).  Very annoying - they gave us a time window - we know enough to have someone at home until they come to do the work.  In hindsight, I should have gotten another estimate, but I was anxious to get the work completed before the fall season.

I wish everything in life was this simple. Jake & Greg showed up at appointed hour for estimate ( I like these guys already). After accepting their bid (middle ground of 5) they showed up at the scheduled date and time to start the work. Jake got the crew of 2 guys started after I covered the ground rules (no construction stuff in our trash, clean up in alley sewer NOT over our 100 year old drain), Job took 2 days, in which the ground rules were observed, (trash hauled off site by them, cleanup in alley) neighboors happy w/cleanliness and actual masonary bits done skillfully. I have had a ton of trades people work on various things over the years, this by far was the most painless repair I have encountered. Any future masonary needs I have these guys are my go-to providers. Highly recommended.
