AD&D Landscape & Sprinkler ServicesAs a new homeowner that has never had a sprinkler system, my neighbor reminded us that we should get it winterized right away. I reached out to 4 companies and two of them said they are not taking on new clients, 1 that didn’t get back to me until the 2 days later, and then there was D&D. He was happy to take me on as a client and offered a competitive rate AND was able to come out just in time before the temperature dropped to 21 degrees! D&D for the save!- Gulcin H.

ANewman Irrigation & Plumbing IncGreg responded quickly, and provided estimate in short order. He was patient in explaining what would be done. A few days later, an opening came up in their schedule, and we had the system within 10 days of the initial contact. Took about 1-1/2 days, and went very well. Pleased with service and quality.- THOMAS W.

AB.P. Lawn Sprinklers Inc.Baltazar spent almost 3 hours working on our sprinkler system. He moved 5 rotating nozzles that were located too close to the sidewalk/driveway. He replaced a valve for one watering zone and upgraded two nozzles to improve watering coverage. He located our ‘missing’ control box which we knew existed but could never find because it was buried under 2 inches of dirt in the front landscaping! We also had the backflow preventer certification scheduled by him with a plumber he works with. . . and the guy came the following day! Baltazar even provided us with hints and tips on maintaining our system. We also hired him last year to repair a leak. Highly recommend him!- Deb S.

AGreen BladezWonderful response time and excellent, quality work! Re-edged beds to give them new life, trimmed shrubs, reclaimed edges of property on tree-line and removed some dead, broken branches. Will have seasonal fertilization and some areas seeded in fall. Very happy with results and lawn looks amazing. Getting a claim to reroute our buried downspouts in the spring to deal with excess water in one portion of our yard.- Yvette T.

APHIL'S IRRIGATION INCPhil and his team are the best! This is the 2nd sprinkler system we have had installed by him and he is a true professional. AAmerican National Sprinkler & LightingThe installation of our new home’s sprinkler system in 1990 was flawless. After the installation American National Sprinkler turned our system on in the spring, drained & shut down in the fall, and serviced our system for 30 years. Pricing was always fair. I never felt like they were trying to overcharge. Their service employees were always professional, courteous, and prompt. Customer service was the same and helpful. Our lawn always looked GREAT. Friends, and family always asked why - my response was fertilizing but mostly due to my AMERICAN NATIONAL sprinkler system.- Al S.

ANewman Irrigation & Plumbing IncWe had Greg out to take a look and give us an estimate. When he did so we let him know that we had some water pressure issues in our house and were concerned that the system would make them worse. He looked at our pipes and tested the pressure and said it should not be a problem. He suggested we have the city water dept check. I called them and they said pressure problems in the house were our problem and suggested we call a plumber. We called one, who came out and said that our main water pipe was too small and he could replace it for $20,000!!!!! Called Greg back to say that we were not going to do the system since we were still concerned. He made us this offer: he would come out and install all the interior piping and then set up a couple of test zones to prove that the pressure was good. He was 100% confident. If we were not happy, he would not charge us a dime. Too good to pass up, we said ok. He came out and spent 4 hours installing the interior pipes. He then set up a couple of test pipes and turned them on and they worked great. We tried the water inside the house and it too was still good. So we gave him the go ahead. His team showed up and spent about 16 hours over two days installing 7 zones and about 35 heads. He showed us how to program the box so that the zones went on at different times and days. There is also a rain gauge which overrides the system when the ground is wet. Of course, it rained hard that night! But the system is operating beautifully and we are very pleased.- WENDY R.

AAurelio and his crew did two jobs: 1) Redesigned and planted new garden bed in front and 2) Designed and planted a new arborvitae hedge on our property line. For job #1, they removed the landscaping gravel and plants, and installed dirt, mulch, and several new arborvitae, roses, and perennials. It was a dramatic improvement! Aurelio was able to reuse the Lillie’s and even relocated our weigela shrub at no extra charge. For job #2, Aurelio and crew planted a row of 19 6’ techny arborvitae, which serve as a property line screen. The hedge is about 100’ long. Aurelio was great to work with. Very responsive, and we could tell he enjoys and takes pride in his work. He gave us clear maintenance instructions to ensure his work will last. We would definitely hire him again.

AThe project went very well. The crew worked their butts off! The transformation of the space is amazing. Narnia's quote was the lowest by a LOT, so I was somewhat skeptical. But the work that they did exceeded my expectations!

AWorking with Tino and his crew was a very positive experience. An old rotted-out wooden deck was demoed (by others) and Tino and his crew prep'd the land/area and did a wonderful job installing a paver patio with a path from an upper deck's stair landing. Working with Tino was wonderful because I never felt any pressure in making decisions. Also, Tino does a great job in explaining his recommendations and outlines the required work. The execution of the work was top notch. These guys do a great job in owning the work they perform and want to make sure that the customer is 100% satisfied!

AI had used Callahan Plumbing in Lemont several weeks ago on the recommendation of a neighbor to replace a corroded natural gas line outside for my new Weber natural gas grill. I was very satisfied with the work. Fast forward to the Thursday before 4th of July weekend and I woke up to my son telling me the toilet on the main floor was backed up and water was coming up through the shower drain when he flushed. I went downstairs to the basement to discover waste water leaking from the toilet flange upstairs and all of the waste lines in my home completely full of water. I immediately called Callahan Plumbing before they opened for business and got their 24-hour answering service. The receptionist advised me that they would get a hold of the on-call plumber who would get back to me. About 20 minutes later the co-owner, Oscar Gutierrez, called me back and I explained my problem and answered some of his questions about my waste lines. Based on what I was telling him he feared the worst; that the cast iron pipe leading outside my foundation that my main PVC waste line connects to, had a break somewhere. Nonetheless, he wanted to be sure it wasn’t a bad clog or roots growing into one of the joints. He told me that all of his plumbers were in the middle of jobs, but he would have someone at my home by early afternoon. In the meantime, he advised me to unplug my ejector pump, turn off my water supply and not use any toilets to prevent any more waste water from going into the drain lines. About 1:30pm three of his plumbers showed up. They had a nifty device with a hose that attached to the clean out trap near the foundation to relieve the backed-up waste water into a thirty gallon garbage bin a little at a time until the lines were all clear. Because of this device none of the waste water spilled into my basement. It wouldn’t have been pleasant. Once the water was cleared and the clean out trap cap opened, they worked for about an hour and a half trying to rod through the main sewer line but all they kept pulling out was mud, waste and whatever the builders had thrown as garbage near the foundation before backfilling it. This was confirmation that the cast iron drain line had cracked or caved in and was no longer connected to the city sewer line. The plumbers told me that they hoped to at least get a partial connection so we could use light water or take showers, but unfortunately it was not going to be the case. Being a holiday weekend and already late in the afternoon it wasn’t likely that the Village would be able to provide a permit until the following week. I did make contact with the Village of Lemont building department while the plumbers were still on site. They were very understanding and advised that because of the situation they would allow work to begin as long as I came in first thing Monday morning to file the permit application. They spoke to one of the plumbers and advised them that the finished work would need to remain open until an inspector gave the okay to fill it and close it back up. The plumbers told me they were going to put their tools away as it was already late in the day and have Oscar get back to me. A short while later Oscar called me back and empathized with my situation. He asked me if I had the option for my family to stay elsewhere for the weekend, which I did. He related that his plumbers weren’t scheduled to work the following day, Friday, as it was a holiday for them. He related that he could get them to come in Friday, but it would have to be charged at emergency work rates. The other option would be to wait until Monday morning, since he had the flexibility to move some people around, and it would be charged at the regular rate. I could not afford the cost to have it done Friday and was appreciative that he could start as early as Monday without the added cost. It was just bad timing for me because it happened right before the holiday. I agreed to Monday. First thing Monday morning Oscar and a few of his plumbers arrived at my home and began work. They had to dig about 6 feet deep and about eight feet out from my foundation to get to the entire buried cast iron pipe and to the Village’s connection. Upon digging it was confirmed that the cast iron pipe had completely separated about eight inches from the foundation and over the years the line had dropped about 12-18 inches below where it would have connected into my foundation. They spent the better part of the morning and early afternoon in the hot sun digging and getting the cast iron pipe out. By about 1pm they were able to make the new PVC connections and get everything tested. Thank goodness everything was flowing normally again; the things we take for granted sometimes! We had to wait about an hour and a half for the Village inspector to check out the work and give his final approval, then they backfilled the hole and cleaned up any mess that was made. By the time everything was cleaned up and hosed off you really couldn’t tell that the front of my home had been dug up. Callahan Plumbing was able to do the work without removing a large decorative bush in the pipe’s path and without disturbing a small weeping cherry tree that was nearby. The work was done professionally and they cleaned up everything afterward. I thought the cost was very fair and reasonable under the circumstances. Callahan Plumbing has definitely earned the right to be my “go to” plumber anytime I need plumbing work done. It was obvious from the inspection and the rapport they had with the Village that they knew what they were doing. I highly recommend them without hesitation
