Water And Smoke Damage reviews in Lindenhurst

We've continued to have problems with the chimney leaking since the initial repairs. Initially we had the claims adjustor from State Farm come back out and look at the roof. He was completely appalled by the poor quality and workmanship of the work performed by McMahon Services. Instead of replacing the Hardie boards that State Farm paid for, McMahon Services used the original materials to address the damages . They used caulk to cover gaps in excess of 1-2 inches, resulting in an eye sore as you will notice from the photos below. After I brought these photos to John McMahon's attention he agreed to addressing this issue. While the company supposedly replaced the boards, which is what they were initially paid to do, we've continued to experience issues with the chimney leaking. I've recently had 3 different contractors assess the chimney. All concurred that due to poor workmanship the chimney is not stable and that it possess a significant risk of falling down. They also noted that the chimney cap was never replaced which is the primary source of the leak. I brought this to John McMahon's attention 4 weeks ago. Initially he sent out a guy who claimed he addressed the problem in 5-10 minutes. However, when I confronted him about the structure not being stable he agreed that this was the case and that he would be following up with John. I've been trying to get a hold of John for the past 4 weeks. According to his secretary he is in meetings and all of my messages (work and cell number) are not being returned. While John didn't personally perform the work, he did source the work to his contractors. I don't know where John found these workers at but clearly there is a significant gap in their knoweledge and experience. John has really put us in a difficult situation. We have a chimney on our home that is not structurally sound and he appears to be doing everything possible to avoid us. We're going to be forced to hire a company to clean up the mess that McMahon Services created despite the fact that John was well compensated by State Farm. In addition to pursuing legal actions, we are filling complaints with the BBB, Contractor Connections and State Farm. Meanwhile, I would strongly encourage you to avoid McMahon Services at all costs. Specifically if you're looking for quality workmanship and for a company that stands behind their work.

I found this company thru Angies' List. They were very responsive, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Women should feel very comfortable coming to this company for help. They took care of everything from explaining what needed to be done, the cause of the problem, and completely dealt with the insurance company to ensure coverage. I had no knowledge of how all of this and Adam (the team supervisor) was very responsive and patient to my many calls and questions. Anyone with water damage or mold should get in touch with this company.

    Lifeline Plumbing Heating & Cooling
I found Lifeline on Angie's List after my basement flooded with a foot of muddy water and my yard was covered in standing water for several days.
I have had this problem before, and talked with many, many other plumbers, waterproofing companies, engineers, etc. about it.  Evan at Lifeline was the first person in 12 years of searching that really understood the problem and had a solution.  He spent several hours inside and outside analyzing the problem and coming up with a proposal.  He didn't try and sell me drain tiles, or crawl space liners or anything that other well-advertised services have tried to convince me I needed to mask the issues.
By re-routing my sump pump to an area that could absorb water and replacing a drainage culvert under the driveway, he was able to fix the actual problem, instead of just covering up the symptoms in my basement.  Two days after installation was complete, there was a massive downpour.  No water in the basement, no standing water in the front yard!  Everything worked just as it was drawn up in the plan, and I'm ridiculously confident that I will not have further problems.  But, even if something were to go wrong, I know that I could call, and Evan would be there asap to take care of it.
I don't want to leave out John, who examined and replaced my furnace with a unit and smart thermostat that will work much better in my house.  I already see a big difference in the climate - it cools more quickly, it heats more quickly, and I'm not always turning the heat up or down.
Jamie was also fantastic at scheduling appointments, explaining timetables and understanding everything required.
Everyone I've dealt with at Lifeline has been outstanding.  Incredibly professional, thorough, understanding, sympathetic, easy to work with, skilled, and quality-focused.  I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I would call them again in a heartbeat.

    MLV Construction LLC
Lucian, the owner was very professional. After I purchased a 6 hour worth of work from Angie's List, I called him and discussed what I needed done. We made an appointment for a couple of weeks later. He sent Cornelio  and I showed him what I needed done. Cornelio sent me to the hardware store for a few items and he began working right away. He did a great job.  He was careful and neat. He put drop clothes down when necessary so there was minimal mess, and he cleaned up after the job. He actually finished in 5 hours. I was very impressed with this company and I will definitely use them again.

Overall, the experience wasn’t very good.  They completed the job and cleaned up well, however, they installed a sump pump that was way too big for my area. I guess it’s better too big than too small, but the sump pump was rated poorly by Consumer Reports, and it did turn out to be a bad sump pump. We had to change it out. They provided me with one estimate, but ended up giving me two bills. They told me that there was an extra fee because they had to send out a plumber and a restoration team, so basically they charged me two emergency fees, even though the plumber and the restoration team were from the same business. This may be common practice, but I was not made aware of this.
