    Green Attic Insulation
That was okay. That was probably 3 or 4 weeks after I called them.  They left their equipment here and had to come back and get it. They were expensive, more expensive than others. After I had another one done, some of their recommendations were not inline with what others ended up talking about. Their quote for doing insulation was just really expensive.

First I'd like to say that I like Randy because I think he accurately suggested how much insulation we should have installed.  That is, he was HONEST.  He could have tried to up-sell easily, but he didn't.  Thank you Randy!  The insulation in our attic was about half what current code says it should be (even though that's ok, we wanted more) and there were some blank areas above the bathrooms where other handymen had installed exhaust fans and not covered them back up.  Randy roughly doubled our insulation, making sure all areas were well covered.  He also added insulation above our garage, which previously had zero insulation, as well as putting up wall insulation on the one short wall that is shared by the garage-attic space and a bedroom.  They were fast, efficient and friendly.  He did not recommend anything overboard, just what we would likely want to be well insulated here in north Chicagoland.  (I wish he had cleaned up the white attic-access panel, which has black fingerprints on it) but everything else he cleaned up well such that we didn't have to come behind him and vacuum anything.  And for what it's worth, he even put insulation on the upper side of the access panel itself.

The Basement Men & The Concrete Man
Overall, a wonderful experience!  Steve was prompt with providing an estimate and was able to schedule work to start within a few weeks.  Steve, Peter, and Mike were helpful in providing design and finishing suggestions.  Mike & Peter completed most of the work themselves (everything except the drywall), thereby reducing the stress of various workers in our home.  They were very professional and polite.  Their dedication to doing a quality job was remarkable.  We chose to use our local carpet store (instead of using Steve's recommended carpet guy) & got a better quality carpet and pad for less money.  We are extremely happy with our basement & have recommended Basement Men to our friends!

Thermal scanning and pressure test of our house worked well.  Most homes need some type of ventilation and I think our house is too airtight which resulted in the pressure testing equipment not reaching needed testing parameters.  Suggestions and equipement were identified that will help with the airflow in the house.

Representative came out for estimate.  Did a thorough job reviewing our needs to blow in insulation into the attic, adding to existing in one area and providing to a second area which was discovered not to have any.  We had purchased a special of $500 worth insulation services for $149 coupon so we applied to the job. Estimate seemed quite reasonable compared to similar jobs a couple of friends had done in their attics.  We were able to schedule workers to come out and do the job within a couple of days of initial review/estimate. 2-3 workers came out and were very careful to cover entire entryway, staircase leading up, etc.  Job was completed within a few hours and cleanup was excellent. We certainly feel an improvement in our heating efficiency, especially in the room we discovered did not have proper insulation in the attic area above it.  Workers were very professional and did a great job.

We could have done the work just, as well as this guy and we're elderly. He was very nice but he was very slow and we paid a fixed price, this work took him over 6 hours and he just putted around. He would try one thing and if it didn't work then he would try something else. This isn't what we hired him for. Outrageous price for the work he did.

    BASEMENTS & BEYOND INC
Of the five contractors we asked for estimates on this project, only Basements and Beyond provided the level of detail in the initial proposal that assured us we wouldn t be surprised with unexpected expenses later in the project. Gerret from Basements and Beyond spent two hours in our basement on his initial visit and prior to leaving he showed us a computer aided design of the plan assuring that we and he were on the same page.' Gerret was very responsive to our many questions and modifications to the proposal before we signed the proposal. To only need to move stuff stored in the basement once, the electrician came to upgrade the electrical service in the unfinished portion of the basement before starting the main construction project. Throughout the project, the dirt and debris was minimal. The area was always neat at the end of the day. Russ and his team were very careful to keep the rest of the house clean during the work by putting plastic on the carpeted stairs and drop cloths on the hardwood floors on the main level. When something needed explanation, they explained things well (i.e., building code requirements). The original plan was to use pre-framed doors. During the course of the project, when it was obvious this would not work due to decreased ceiling height from soffit installation to enclose the ducting, they opted to build the door frames to give an esthetically and functionally better result. Their attention to detail is evident and the resulting work is outstanding. We enjoyed having the crew here and were sorry to see them leave at the end of the project. We highly recommend this company.

HANDYMEN & MRS. HELPER WERE VERY RESPONSIVE AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY CALLED US BACK ON THE SAME DAY WE LEFT A MESSAGE TO GET AN ESTIMATE, AND HAD SOMEONE COME TO ESTIMATE THE JOB THE NEXT DAY. THE PROJECT WAS DONE BY RANNET, WHO WAS PROFESSIONAL AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH THE DRYWALL AND PAINTING. MRS. HELPER (FAITH) DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB OF SCHEDULING THE JOB AND DELIVERY OF THE MATERIALS. SHE WAS ALWAYS AVAILABLE AND VERY RESPONSIVE. WE WOULD HIRE THIS COMPANY AGAIN FOR FUTURE JOBS.
