Agustin Ramirez Landscape & Snow Removal
Agustin has been in charge of landscaping and snow removal for our townhouse association for years and they always do a fabulous job. They are timely, professional, and go out of their way to be helpful.

This was the first year we used Dave Niegebauer for snow removal, and with the winter we had, are we glad we found him!
Dave did an incredible job -- our section of sidewalk was always the cleanest on the block. All the agreed-upon areas were cleared perfectly and in a timely manner. Dave always left behind a detailed service report for our records and operated in the most professional manner at all times. We found his prices extremely reasonable ($120 per visit for snowfalls of 2-6 inches or $160 per visit for snowfalls of 7"-12" depth) and Dave himself a pleasure to deal with.

I called David Neigebauer on Christmas Eve, since our condo might have needed help with snow removal on Christmas Day. He was extremely kind, flexible, and committed to helping us out, even at the last minute, even on such a holiday! He came by our condo exactly when promised, and one of the other condo board members was there to let him in. She also was quite impressed with David's caring and professional attitude. David then e-mailed us a thorough quote that same afternoon. Although his price was very reasonable, we didn't hire him, only because our condo board decided we can't afford snow removal service at all. If and when we can, we will definitely be giving David a call.

They are very good. They do good work. I think they are very careful about what they do. It just looks good when they get done. It looks natural. It doesn't look weird. I don't think they have done any lawn fertilizing and treatment. I don't have a clue about what we paid for the services. They respond right away and clean up after themselves really well. They will consult with you about the stuff. They are very good about redoing what you want. I really don't know about the price because my husband wrote the check. He hasn't complained so I guess it is fine.

    BUCKELMAN BUILDERS INC
Left a phone message on 2/3/11 regarding possible availability to do the necessary snow removal. Received a call back early on 2/4/11 which, under the general circumstances, was courteous and reasonable. We had left over a half dozen phone messages during busy and difficult times. We are appreciative of the call back and would certainly have considered giving them the work, except that one other firm responded to our initial call on 2/3/11 and did the job that evening.

We were able to make direct telephone contact on the first try, and Dave Neigebauer was very forthright about the work overload everyone was under, but that he would get by the subject property and estimate the cost and would get the job done no later than the next day and may still get to it the same day, 2/3/11. He did get to the property later that day and he and his crew did the snow removal work in the early evening hours of the same day. Our neighbors, who were the neighboring driveway and shared the expense, had been homebound and stranded since the snows began, were as appreciative as we were in the responsiveness and professionalism that Mr. Neigebauer and his employees displayed in very difficult circumstances.

    3 Cousins Cleanup
I called for an estimate on snow removal for my condo association. Two of the cousins came out on a Sunday and looked around the building. They described their services and said they would call back for additional information (i.e., did our association want them to remove snow and salt, or just remove snow?). They never called me back. If they didn't want the job, they should have said so up front. I was getting estimates to review at a condo board meeting, so timeliness was important. They obviously found somthing wrong with our building that they didn't want to even speak to me further about the job. I even called a week later and left a message. But I got no response. Perhaps our building is geographically undesirable to them. They are in Park Ridge; we are north side of Chicago.

    R & G Almanza Landscape
In 2007-2008, Raul did not ask me to sign any contract after he met me at my house, but started his summer crew right away. These guys did a good job with the lawn service, were reliable, and even came in rainy weather. However, they did put down a pesticide. But when it started snowing, it seemed that we were at the end of the shoveling schedule. Some days we'd wait until 2 P.M. to get the car out of the driveway; but my husband or friends would end up shoveling us out because the service hadn't come and we had an appointment. Raul and I talked about this problem. He stated that we had to pay regardless, since the crew did eventually come. And we did pay for those days. Apparently, in an effort to solve the time problem, the company started using a truck to plow the driveway (instead of using a snow blower and shovels, like before). I didn't say anything to Raul, but the truck, being too wide for our driveway, damaged our roses and some other bushes. It also packed the snow, rather than removing it, resulting in an icy surface. Unfortunately, we have to walk down our driveway to get from the house to the garage, and from the house to the sidewalk. And if I fall, I can be in big trouble physically. So that truck was not a good solution. This spring, I signed a contract for 2008-2009, and wrote a written request for no fertilizers, herbicides, etc. I requested snow removal service again. I mailed it to Raul with the changes, but never received a signed copy from him. However, he started service on time in the spring and the crew did a fine job all summer and fall. This winter, snow fell and...no Raul. I called him, left a message, and he called back, telling my husband that we don't have a contract! I can't understand that, since he's been working for us since last spring! I called two or three more times, leaving messages on the answering machine, telling him that we want to continue with his service, but would prefer that he use the snow blower and shovels this year instead of the snow plow. No response. This has left us in a terrible position because it is too late to get someone else to remove snow. I used the snow blower once and ended up in physical therapy. And I fell. Now, my husband with his heart condition is shoveling. I feel that Raul's company should work with us for the entire year, not just the summer, because we have a history of him removing our snow and it was written on the contract.

They did a good job, and refrained from using salt, as I had requested.
