    American Thermal Window
It took awhile for the doors to come in, and the we mutually agreed to wait for weather improvements, but it all came together nicely. Three exterior doors and 4 basement windows were taken out and replaced in a day. I was very happy with the results.

    Hardy Glass Block Panels
I contraced Hardy to install glass block windows for my basement. It was 4 windows in 2 large openings, about 5 1/2 feet by 2 1/2 feet each. After calling on a Monday, I had an estimate by Wednesday, and the windows were installed the following week. The crew was great, they cleaned up afterwards, and the windows look great! They were done in about 4 hours. I wish I would have done this years ago!

My experience was excellent all around, from first meeting with salesman Tim, to all office contact, and then the final job.  It took a little while to schedule the job, but mostly due to my own unavailability.  I was always able to get ahold of either the salesperson or the scheduler - if they weren't in the office, the receptionist gave me their cellphone numbers.  When it came time for the job to be done, I was impressed with how engaged the installer was with explaining everything and answering my questions in a way that connected.  The job itself was executed excellently, efficiently, and in a very timely manner.

Absolutely great !! From the first phone call to the final payment took less than ten days. No complaints at all. Brian was professional and friendly. The work took less than two hours and when they were finished, except for the new windows it looked like they had never been there. Both inside and out.

Jim came out to give me an estimate.  On-time, pleasant and efficient.  He explained that some older pre-fab windows used steel bands that could lead to the cracking we saw. He eyeballed the window size.
The estimate came by eMail same evening.  I accepted and set up time for installation.
Brian and assistant Eric were early.  No problem.  Brian knocked out old window while Eric mixed the mortar.  Brian got down in the window-well with a new window which was exactly the right size.
In minutes, he was done.  The new window was installed.  The broken glass inside was cleaned up.  I wrote the check and they were gone.  Brian also pulled a couple big weeds that had been growing in the window-well. Nice guy.
This took 45 minutes start to finish.  When I watered the lawn that afternoon, there was no leakage.

Spoke with estimator to request quote.  He stopped by in few days when we were out and gave us a quote on the phone based on inspection of the window from the outside; we didn't have to be at home waiting for him.  We agreed to the job, so he ordered the pre-fab glass block panel.
In about a week, his 2-man crew installed the new block window in about 1 hr.  They did beautiful job with the masonry work, very precise and clean.  The only complaint was that the crew arrived almost 2.5 hr. late, but didn't call ahead.

    Hynek Construction
Hynek was referred to us by Anyway Construction who was doing some concrete work for us. He was responsive to our initial request for a bids - although it did take a couple calls - and worked quickly on a Saturday to accomadate our schedule with the concrete pouring which couldn't happen until the tuckpointing was done.

    Hynek Construction
I obtained an estimate for the work in late 2011.  Because it was late in the season (cold and snow were approaching fast) Hynek let me know he would not be able to do the work until spring the next year.  Although he did not have time to do the full chimney repair, Hynek came out one day and put sealant on the chimney cracks, so there would be no leaking during the winter months.

I called Hynek in late March 2012 to inquire when the work was planned to be done.  He said I was on the list and he expected to come out in about two weeks.  Hynek, with a crew of 2 workers, came out about two weeks later.  They got started early one morning.  The chimney tear down and repair,  and patching of the hole in the front of the house,  were done in 2 days.  The scaffolding they set up was in place about 4 days (for the concrete cap to fully set I imagine).  Hynek said the basement window had to be special ordered so he would come out in about another week to complete the window part.  About one week later, Hynek called to say the window was in and someone would come out to install it later that day.  The glass block window was installed in a few hours.

The workmen and Hynek were very professional.  They set up, completed the work, and cleaned up the worksite, with no disruption to me or my family.

The total cost matched the quote he originally gave me.  Detailed as follows:  $890 to tear down and replace 5 courses of brick on chimney, replace 1 section of flue liner, and pour a new concrete cap.  Re-attach existing stainless steel chimney cover.  Patch brick wall on front of house to close up hole from old mailbox slot.  $270 to replace  and seal flashing where roof meets chimney.  $250 to remove and replace basement glass block window, with a $40 special order charge for clear glass block.

I rated the price A.  This quote was a little lower than two other quotes that I had obtained.

I rated quality B.  I believe the quality of the work is VERY GOOD.  I did not rate quality all the way to an A yet because of small inconsistency in the edging of the concrete cap.  Hynek has agreed to look closely at the issue and will come out in the next few weeks to fix the inconsistencies.   (I will upload photos in the near future).

I rated responsiveness an A.  Hynek always called back timely.
I rated punctuality an A.  Hynek and his workers were always on time.  For the estimate and the work.

I rated professionalism a A.  Hynek and his crew were professional, strive to do high quality work,  are concerned with the quality of their work product and the satisfaction of the customer.

I always compare 3 contractors prices before hiring and this company had the best prices.  Their service was very good and one of the glass blocks broke after the job was done but they came and fixed it for me, no questions asked.  The sales person and the installer were both great, I was very happy with their service.
