    Eliot's Complete Auto Repair Shop
Eliot's Auto Service touts being an honest auto repair establishment in a world of less than honest auto repair shops (including dealerships). I have lived a day or two and have always been disappointed at some point with other auto mechanics for dishonest service, pricing and customer service, except at Eliot's which is why they have retained me as a customer. Their work is excellent, you deal with the owner and while they are not the least expensive game in town, they are not overpriced for what they offer. I heartily recommend them.

    HEART CERTIFIED AUTO CARE
I have been going to them for almost twenty years and my vehicle will be turning 25 this fall. I go directly to them for all of my vehicles repairs. They mail their regular customers coupons and once they know you there is no need to have the coupon with you to get the discount. They tell you what is needed to be fixed immediately or can wait with a print out of everything so you have it in writing. When your repair is going to take a while they have loaner vehicles. They stand behind their work. Brian Moak has always given excellent customer service. I will definitely recommend them and absolutely use them, again.

    GROSSINGER TOYOTA NORTH
TL;DR - I had my left front caliper replaced from Grossinger's recommendations in October 2016. In Feb 2018 I had the original symptoms return and brought it into a different Toyota dealership. Three different mechanics confirmed to me the left front caliper appeared to be original to the vehicle and was severely corroded, so corroded that it could not have been replaced so recently. Grossinger Toyota's Operations Manager Sean Moore absolutely refused to even hear my complaint, told me to get a lawyer and I shouldn't be their customer. Mr. Moore simply kept arguing that I could never prove the current caliper was original or a replacement. Long Version: In October 2016 I began experiencing heavy vibrating and shaking in my steering wheel when driving on the highway. I took my 2007 FJ Cruiser to my local Toyota Dealership, Grossinger Toyota North. After their inspection they informed me my front left caliper had seized due to rust and corrosion and would need to be replaced. I agreed and had the work done. In Feb 2018 we were driving my FJ with our children in the car when the vehicle suddenly and violently pull to the left, then back to the right, nearly causing us to crash on the expressway. We brought it to a closer Toyota Dealership, not Grossinger. We were informed by three separate employees of the maintenance crew that the front left caliper was severely corroded and had seized. All three employees were in agreement that this caliper was so heavily rusted and corroded that it appeared to be original to the 2007 FJ cruiser, not one that would have been installed 16 months prior. We paid this Toyota dealership to replace both front calipers and they gave us both the front left and right calipers that they replaced so we could bring them to Grossinger Toyota as evidence the front left caliper was never changed. We then called Grossinger Toyota to make a complaint that they charged us for replacing my front left caliper when it was clear it was never actually replaced. We were connected to Grossinger Toyota's Operations Manager Sean Moore. Mr. Moore was completely uninterested in hearing our complaint and instead insinuated we were some how to blame and he couldn't help us because we took the vehicle to a different dealership. After several minuters of debating and being told things such as "Maybe you shouldn't be a customer here anymore" or "Get a lawyer", Mr. Moore agreed to meet with us, likely because we filed a complaint with Toyota Corporate. On the day of our meeting we brought our old calipers with and showed them to Mr. Moore. Mr. Moore replied to us that brand new factory calipers are identical to after market replacement calipers and we would not be able to prove his shop didn't replace the caliper. Even after telling Mr. Moore that three Toyota mechanics stated the level of rust and corrosion on the front left caliper showed it was several years older than if it had been replaced 16 months prior. Mr. Moore continued with his excuse that we aren't metallurgists and cant PROVE how much rust could be present. Sadly our meeting ended with Mr. Moore telling us our only option would be to retain a lawyer. Simply put Grossinger Toyota's Operations Manager Sean Moore was shown our old beat up caliper which three other Toyota mechanics agreed was years older than 16 months, likely the original caliper, and Mr. Moore did not care. Mr. Moore had our money from back in October of 2016 and did not care that his maintenance shop had failed to replace a part I paid for. Do NOT shop here, do NOT get your vehicle repaired here. They will taker your money and won't do the repairs. If you catch them they will make you fight them in court for restitution.

    Grossinger Honda
Any dealer is a little bit on the high side. They get it ready. It's pretty well on time. They're pretty good at communicating. Making appointments or bringing it in for service is always good. Usually, I just drop it off and come back for it later.

    Chicago North Side Toyota Scion
They seem to do a good job. I always talk myself into going to the dealership when I need work. It's because I have a Toyota, I keep saying that I'd rather have Toyota parts, and a mechanic that is familiar with Toyota's. They look at the car and tell me exactly what needs to be done. They tell me what it will cost. You can go in there and just say you're there for one reason, and they'll look at it and start giving you other reasons to have repair work. But I believe them, they know the insides better than me.

    CASTLE HONDA
The problem it turned out was that the cable connection to the battery was loose. The connection itself was very clean. It was obviously cleaned the last time it was serviced (the car has always been serviced at Castle Honda) and not properly tightened. We had to pay $40 for them to correct their prior error. But that was not all, when the car was returned, the flap covering the spare tire in the rear had been opened but not put back. And the window sticker noting the mileage for the next service had been moved out of the corner of the window and moved about a foot into the field of view. I have never had any problems with Castle Honda before. But after this visit, it is hard for me to have confidence in the people they have staffing their service department. I have to say that in the past I have been very pleased with Castle Honda service and in particular the people staffing their service department. I really don't know what to make of what happened. This form requires that you say whether you would hire them again or not. I am not certain, there are other Honda dealers I can use... but I think I am going to try them one more time and give them a chance, and discuss with them what happened, in the event that this was just some kind of anomaly

    AUTOBARN VOLKSWAGEN MAZDA
I would not use them again. I don't own a Volkswagen any more so I would not use them anyways. They are too large and they are unresponsive in general. I always generally take the care in on the recommended service dates. So whatever is recommended by the dealership I do that. The waiting room was fine. The workers would get a C.

For my daughters car they charge, but mine is part of a package. The price is pretty good. It's fair. They're pretty quick. If it's something that will take a long time, they will tell me and offer me a ride to wherever I want to go and offer to pick me up. They are very attentive and they explain what is going on with the car. I would recommend them without reservation.

FACTORY MUFFLER & COMPLETE AUTO REPAIR
For like car repairs, I go to a local place called Factory Muffler.  Most recently they did an oil change, but prior to that they did like - my daughter had a car accident, so they did some like major work on the front end.  So the guy is really honest - like he'll tell you exactly what's wrong with your car and he'll tell you what you should do.  He'll actually show you the parts that need to be replaced, so they're not trying to rip you off and replace things that you really don't need fixed.  And then he'll tell you what you need to do and then he'll tell you like what you can get away without doing if you don't want to pay now, and what you should do like in three months or six months; so he's really, really honest.  You can't find that.  And then if something's wrong you can bring it back and they'll check it for you for free.  I've been using him for a couple of years now.  They don't just do mufflers; they actually do any type of auto repair, but they don't do any body work.  I've been there a lot, but the last time I was there, it was only $12.00.  The engine light was going on and I thought something was wrong with the engine - I mean, I'm sorry, the oil light - and he said oh no, everything's fine; you just needed another quart of oil or two quarts of oil, so that was very minor.  But prior to that, it was probably like a week before that my daughter got into a car accident and I had to pay like $2,000 to replace everything, like the radiator, the timing valve, and like a whole bunch of stuff.  They're always very honest.  I will go to him first and he'll tell me exactly like this is what you need done, this is what - you don't need to do this right away - but you should do this like before Winter.  He'll be really, really honest, and that's why people go back to him.  For price, I would say he's probably comparable - like you can like negotiate with him, so I would say like A, A-minus.  Sometimes he wants a lot of money and then I like negotiate.  For responsiveness I would say a B because sometimes they're really, really busy and then you have to wait.  I definitely will go back again because I really like them.  They're actually really friendly.  I started using them when I had ... like I wanted to get some stuff fixed on the car but I didn't want to go back to the dealer anymore because the dealer is very expensive.  And my sister I think found this person on YELP, and then when I went to him I just started going to him, so I've been going to him ever since if I need anything done on the car unless it's a newer car, and then I go to the dealer.
