    Vaupell Auto & Car Wash
They were able to get me in right away. They explained what needed to be done after running the diagnostic and printed out a complete cost. They are really upfront about the pricing. They are probably a little pricey then some other places but it's a nice local business. They are all very professional. I'm willing to pay a little more for that.

    Reliable Auto Repair Center Inc
We were quoted $1,100  by the dealership to replace our heating console. We took it to reliable auto repair, and they were able to fix the problem without replacing the console and saved us around $700.

    CASSIDY TIRE & SERVICE
I noticed a slight shimmy while diving my SUV. I was told by a neighbor, who is an ASE mechanic, that I needed to have my wheels balanced ( I had purchased my tires at Cassidy Tires along with tire insurance in 09/09). Took my SUV to Cassidy tires in Berwyn.
Dave, the manger and congenial young man, told me no problem. He would service the car right away. After about fifteen minutes, he rolled one my tires in into the seating area and pointed out a separation in the tire wall which was very obvious. He didn't try to sell me a new set of tires because I told him I was thinking about trading in the vehicle . He said that was fine but asked if he could replaced the damaged tire with my spare tire because driving on the damaged tire was not safe.  Dave, a nice honest guy, probably saved me from a serious tire blowout.  I would definitely buy tires or related services from Cassidy tires in Berwyn when I have the need.

Murphy's Transmission & Complete Auto Repair
The dealership told us that there was a loose tie rod in front of our Ford Edge and that the repair would be $430 and take all day. We took the vehicle to Murphy's for a second opinion.
Chris agreed that the repair was needed and quoted a cost exactly half of the dealership cost. They did the repair in less than 3 hours at the quoted price.
This is the second time I have gone to Murphy's for repairs and each time they have been courteous, professional and cost effective.

    MAAS Auto Inc
The engine in my 2002 Nissan Altima had gotten increasingly loud over the past few weeks.  I called Maas in the morning and they said to bring it over and they'd check to see what the problem was.
If it had been the dealer where I've had repairs done in the past, they would've required me to make an appointment and charged me $100 for the service time just to take a look at the car.
The first thing the guys at Maas did was check the oil, and found the level to be extremely low, and the oil that was left to be very dirty.  They replaced the oil, then put the car on a lift to check for any leaks.  There were none.
Cost ... $29.00 for the oil change.  Amazing.
I'm convinced the dealer would've "found" something else to repair and charged me an arm and a leg for it.
Marty was great.  I'll never take my cars anywhere else!

I had an excellent experience at Jessup.  First, it is a local business, something I am happy to support.  Second, Brian at the front desk is very professional, explains in detail the work to be done and its price, and goes over all warranties related to the job. I also like the fact that they are very punctual in their time estimate, so I can plan my day around the repairs. Finally, they even give you a complementary car wash after the job is done!  Very happy with the service and will certainly return for future services and repairs.

My car battery needed replacing.  This is something that can be done for about $90-120.  I thought that I would try to "shop local" and keep the business in my home town.  When I received an estimate of $160 I questioned why so much.  I was told $105 for the battery, $20 for the fifteen minute installation and $35 for a diagnostic check of my electrical system.  I said that I didn't think I needed an electrical system check.  They said that there might be something in the electrical system causing the battery to fail.  I opined that I thought the fact that the battery was almost eight years old was the more likely reason.  They said that they would not warrantee the new battery without the electrical system check.  I went to Wal-Mart and had a comparable battery (actually higher rated by Consumer Report) installed for under $100 including tax and installation.  I haven't had any problems since.

My sister-in-law, father, and I have trusted the care of our family vehicles to Jessup's Automotive Services for dozens of out-of-warranty repairs over the years. Its service advisors are very good listeners. And that's why we keep returning to its shop.

The work was okay. I was able to drop off the vehicle and they called then what work was complete. Their prices are more expensive than our previous mechanic. They were competent in every way.  Everything was fine.

    B & H Auto Repair
I have always liked their work. They are typically timely and Scott Barrett has even gone out of his way to get things done. The prices are competitive and he is good at indicating when work does not need to be done as well.
