Mike Williams Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning
I got several other estimates.  The individual who finally did the work came in at at less than half Williams quote.  In addition, we found some less than satisfactory soldering work in the previous Williams' work.

He's just a very good person, an honest man and won't take advantage of any situations.  He was very reasonably priced.  He replaced our water heater with one that was even nicer than what we'd had before.  We now have a 40 gallon tank.  We have no more problems with hot water.  I feel he has been trustworthy enough that I don't even have to be home for him to come and do the service for me.

    Hays Plumbing Co Inc
.This visit occurred prior to Orville selling the business.  I have always been satisfied with Mr. Hay's work.  He was always up front about his recommendations and what he thought best for the situation and the estimated costs.  He was our first choice of plumbers in the Jacksonville area.
However in 2014, it is a different story.  We needed to have the sump pumps and garbage disposal replaced.  Tried contacting the business several times without success.  We left messages, but did not receive any follow up contact.  I do know that at the time, they were involved with a large job at the grain elevators south of town.
We finally got tired of leaving messages.  We utilized Manchester Heating and Plumbing.  I was able to talk to a person versus an answering machine.  Chad arrived promptly and efficiently installed the sumps and garbage disposal at a very reasonable price.  He arrived on time and is very professional.  He is fair and honest in his pricing and estimates.  I would highly recommend this local independent contractor.

    Hays Plumbing Co Inc
Called because my floor drain was backing up/not draining. There was a miscommunication from the office staff, when I first spoke to them I was told that they would call when someone was headed my way, two hours later I got a second call asking again what the problem was and I explained again, I was told that they wouldn't be able to have someone come until the next day. I had since turned away two other plumbers so I explained this and they made the arrangements to come. The guy that came was friendly and personable but tried to snake the floor drain (at which time he broke the backwater valve that I had to replace myself) and said that I had bigger problems and that I would need to call someone with larger equipment. I made a few calls and Doyle Plumbing came out within an hour and they snaked the main sewer line and the floor drain started draining immediately. I am very disappointed and will not be calling Hays again. I understand that there should be some type of fee for the time but $185 after a $25.00 off coupon for nothing is rather painful when it ended up costing me the part I had to replace that they broke and another plumber...

It was a weekend afternoon and I decided to replace my kitchen faucet. I turned the valves to shut off the water and disconnected the old faucet from the water supply. After draining the lines, I started to work on the faucet. However the hot water supply would not stop dripping. I called Mr. Leonard who tried to walk me through turning the water off in the basement. Nothing I tried worked. I even turned off the main line for the water. Mr. Leonard finally came over to the house. He had a great deal of difficulty getting the water to stop dripping. He finally purged the hot water heater.
He left me to replace the faucet, then returned and installed new valves on the kitchen sink water supply.
At the moment, I cannot tell you what it cost, or even approximate, since it was a weekend call. It will be expensive, I know, but Mr. Leonard was his usual prompt, courteous, no-nonsense self.

Upon departure they said they could clean it up for an additional $16.00 per hr. for workers. They Showed no regard for my house and tracked mud between rooms. They could hardly wait to leave.

Had a leaking toilet for possibly several months. The faucet sink in this same bathroom had begun to leak, but we didn't know if it needed to be replaced or just needed to be repaired.

My husband heard that his dental hygienist's husband was a plumber, so we decided to give him a try.

We are so glad we did.

Steve Godfrey showed up with his son on time and went right to work.

They fixed the faucet (did not need a new one) and the toilet .
I asked if they could look at another bathroom faucet as the popup drain was not working properly. They did and promptly fixed that, also.

While working I asked them questions about how how a toilet works, sump pumps and septic tanks. They answered all of them!
Another strong point was that they left no mess afterwards.
They were professional, polite, and knowledgeable.
We need the outside faucets replaced this summer and they are the ones we will be calling.

Removed stairs and drill a hole in the basement floor for an additional sump pump that was not necessary. Drainage pipe to street was not laid deep enough for grass to grow over the top. I believe the crew was not adequately supervised.

    A J Spreen Plumbing Inc
They came when they said they would. They gave me an estimate about what the cost might be. The final cost was very close to that. I needed the work done during a certain time period. They got there and got it done. I had them come back after some other work was done. I called them, and they came right back to do the work. They were willing to work around my schedule. When I went and talked with them, they were open about when they could or couldn't come. There was no pressure to do anything that I didn't want done, though they found a couple of things that needed to be fixed and pointed them out.
