ABerg Roofing and Home ImprovementsHad a full roof replacement. It had to be rescheduled a few times but it got done before the cold of winter set in. Appears to be good work (only time will tell), certainly looks fantastic. I still gave an A but one not so perfect aspect was the clean up. A huge mess was left in my back yard on day one so we couldn't let my dog out, honestly that wasn't the real issue as they were short days but even after the cleanup they were nails and smaller debris everywhere. They were not the cheapest but they were local (Downers Grove) and Bob was great to deal with. Cost $16,400.- Jeffrey R.

ABudget Right HandymanMy technician, Elvis, did an outstanding job with a high degree of professionalism and skill. He was great at talking through the scope of work, providing updates, and offering beneficial consultation. Elvis was very respectful in the way he approached conversations and in his attentiveness to ensuring the areas of my home where the work was being performed were protected and cleaned/organized during and upon job completion. I am truly amazed at all he accomplished on my very long 'list' and appreciative that he did the work with a level of detail and care as he would if it were his own home. That is really hard to find. I have been a customer of Budget Right for many years. I also greatly appreciate the responsiveness, flexibility and focus on customer satisfaction consistently provided by the staff. The lower rating on Price is due to the increases over time and varied work efficiency to complete the job across technicians. As a matter of practice, the office will match their best technician to the scope of work, but if you can't wait for that appointment date, you may get someone who isn't as experienced. The other way to save is to pre-purchase materials needed, to avoid the technician having to spend time at Home Depot or elsewhere. Budget Right is my go-to for jobs big and small for my home and rental property. I highly recommend them.- EILEEN B.

AAce Handyman Services ChicagolandVery fast, very prompt, and much less expensive than I expected. Furring boards over garage door, behind siding, had rotted due to unsealed installation. ADESIGNfirst Builders LLCWe are very pleased with the result of our remodel. We wanted a complete gut/renovation and this was our first major renovation, so we were of course concerned about cost and time--and not knowing really what questions to ask. DesignFirst was a great partner through the project. Their designers came up with a thoughtful design, but were also happy to tweak things that we wanted to change. Their customer portal was modern and allowed us to review all the choices we had made, payment milestones and records, etc. They also have a nice showroom and a good selection of styles and materials for things like cabinet styles/hardware and stone materials. For some small items like cabinet handles/pulls, we were able to find exactly what we wanted through a third-party and it was no problem at all for us to buy there and have them install it. It was nice to find a company that was ok with us buying some items and not forcing us to use all of their vendors. The project manager was always very responsive to any questions as the project went on. We were a bit unlucky in our timing as the Covid lockdown hit our project right in the middle. But the GC and contractors were always respectful and had masks when on the property. And somewhat surprisingly our timeline was not really impacted because of the lockdown, though it was obvious that the company and contractors were having to jump through extra hoops to get things done on time. One thing that was key to our project was the relationship that the company and its lead contractors seemed to have with the city inspectors. Their contractors were obviously known for working to code and making any changes the inspectors asked for correctly. Our inspections went smoothly, and this is one of those areas where "you get what you pay for". I think we paid a fair price and got great work in return.- Todd S.

AFortune RestorationFantastic. The crew was here for a week. They arrived on time, they were polite and professional and maintained CoVid awareness. They cleaned up at the end of every day and worked hard. They didn't cut corners, and the result was a house that looks better right now than at any point in the 25 years we have lived here. There are a couple levels of supervision and good communication at all levels. If you want your house painted right, this company can make that happen. Nothing but positive things to say.- Rick P.

AWhile the deck was just finished, so far we are very happy with the new build. From start to finish Dan and Dianne Partipilo were fantastic! After meeting with several other contractors, we hired Partipilo Custom Decks because they were knowledgeable, professional, responsiveness, and focused on quality. When Dan came out initially for the estimate, he informed us about new building code requirements that a new build needed to have even though we were replacing the old deck virtually like-for-like. It was apparent to us that Dan has a good amount of experience with these projects. Several other contractors we had meet with were not as knowledgeable and did not point out some of the key issues with our build like Dan. Additionally, some of them mentioned unorthodox methods for certain parts of the build that did not make sense to do or seem up to code. After coming out for the estimate, Dan quickly followed up with a proposal (in electronic document format) for our job which was itemized to show what work would occur and what materials would be used. Several contractors only supplied a hand written proposal that was not itemized which did not make us feel comfortable with the work and materials to be provided. Both Dan and Dianne, were very quick to respond to any questions. We felt that they were definitely working hard to make sure the project was completed to meet our expectations. From the start of the project, we were provided (without any prompting) all of the information we should know; Dianne even sent us an FAQ that addressed a lot of questions which were likely to come up from start to finish. They were also tremendous during the permit and inspection process by keeping us informed at all stages. The completed deck looks great and brought back the beauty of the property which was lost for so many years. We feel that they were definitely the right choice for our project, and we would use them again.

AVery smooth operation. Jason was prompt and genuine. He laid out his timeline and what to expect and actually followed it. The work was done surprisingly fast and the attention to detail really impressed me. They even took extra care when demo-ing my old cabinets and counter top as to not disturb and freak out my cats. They made a point to clean and kept things put away each night before they left. I will definitely give him my business if/when I need more work done.
