  • We used Budget Right Handyman about a year ago to install ceiling fans and to install closet hardware, that went well. Service was quick, efficient, and professional. We hired Budget Right Handyman again this fall to have all of the trim redone on the bottom floor of our house. Phil was our handyman. He did an exceptional job! He was very professional and easy to work with. He knew exactly what materials we needed and he was very helpful in us making decisions and purchasing materials. He did a great job, we are so thrilled with the way the work turned out! He even gave up his Saturday off to come and finish the project for us. The only downside to our experience was the people we spoke with on the phone. They underestimated the length (and thus the price) of our project by 8 hours. They also were not helpful in telling us what we needed to buy before our handyman arrived, we had to go out and buy supplies when he arrived.

  • mr tony morales from handyman solutions, inc was professional and efficient. he was informative as well, patiently answering all my questions and making a few excellent suggestions.

He finished the work I had for him in the time allotted. he was honest with me about the work he capable of doing and the work he was not capable of or qualified to do. I will be hiring him again.

  • After living in our house for over 8 years with clothes spread out in 3 different places, we decided to convert an underused bedroom into a closet.  My wife has an extensive work wardrobe and so bouncing between 3 locations looking for something got very tiresome and wished for a long time that she could have everything in one place for easy access.  We contacted Closet Organizing Systems for an estimate on a Friday and Rich was able to come out the next day.  He talked with us about what we wanted.  We were looking for something functional, not fancy.  He helped educate us on the way to best utilize the new space of the bedroom we'd be converting and how to optimize the space in a walk-in in the master bedroom.  He also gave us tips on painting the new space.  His almost 30 years of experience was very evident and appreciated.
We couldn't be happier with the results.  Installation went very smoothly.  The installers were on time, efficient, and flexible.  We had an electrician in at the same time installing a new light switch in the new space so they were able to work around each other without any problem.  They did a great job of cleaning up too.  My wife now has all her clothes for work in one convenient place and the master walk-in is much more organized, allowing more space to hang clothes that previously were folded up and crammed onto shelves, getting wrinkled and lost in the shuffle.   I would highly recommend COS to anyone.

  • We had 5 proposals, all of whom we liked. One was so out of line that we decided he didn't want the job.  Three submitted written proposals after seeing our basement, one gave us his proposal by phone, and one came out to talk over the proposal and offer a discount at the time of signing.  We went with the last, The Basement Men, because his proposal was the most thorough.  All the others gave us a base price and told us that, as the work progressed, we could make decisions at that time.

Steve Lauer's proposal gave us a folder telling us who they were, what kind of work they do, and a list of references we could call.  While he was forthright and very knowledgeable what needed to be done, I was hesitant about someone who comes out to give a proposal and wants a signature at that same time.  While we did go with his company, that procedure of on site signing led to a few minor misunderstandings. However, they were corrected as Steve was a hands-on person and always on site to see the work being done. [It is very difficult to read a contract and grasp it all at one time.]  For the people who submitted their contacts by phone, we were able to go back to the contract and reference and question what we didn't understand.  With Steve's approach, we missed some items in his contract because it was a lot to grasp in a hour without having been able to think about it  awhile.  However, the Basement Men did excellent work and we are pleased with the result.. On November 11, the contract was signed.

The work began a week after we signed . Two men came in and removed all the old paneling, framing, insulation, ceiling tiles and

Electric in one day.  They worked from 8 am until 6 pm without stopping.  And they took a lot of the demolition with them that same day.  The next day they came in with wood and drywall, and began the business of remodeling the basement. Two of the already existing door openings weren't framed correctly, so they had to tear them down and square them off so the doors would fit properly. {This was an extra cost.] They also roughed in the electric. Each day, Steve would come by to see the result of the day's work. Checks were appropriated throughout the work as each part of the remodel was completed.  Several days later, the dry waller came in and seamed and patched the dry wall. They left a mess on the basement floor that they had to come back and clean it up as best they could, but much of it was already dried. I was concerned, but not overly, as I knew the carpet would cover the dried patching compound. After quite a few days, they returned to sand the seams and patch. Soon, The original construction team came in to build the bookcases, and work on the sump pumps, install the doors and windows, and fishing the hardware on the doors and lights. After that, they painted the walls a color chosen by us.

The sump pumps were extra as after completing the new basements, we did not want to the old ones to die us, leaving us with a flooded basement. Steve suggested the battery operated pump and we went along with it.{Both the pump fixtures were extra.]. Lastly the carpet man came in to lay the padding and install the carpet.  We ran into a problem where the demolition team did not take the previous nails out of the concrete floor, but left them in. [The carpet was being laid a few inches from where it was previously.] I stepped on these nails a few times.  Steve did say it was unacceptable, so he had them remove them.  However, after all was completed, I did find that the nails were still protruding in the floor of my workshop and they were never removed.  Everyone passed the buck saying "it was the carpet layers' fault", "it was the demolition crews' fault."  The main fact, whoever's fault it was, it did not get done. They still exist in my workshop.

Another problem happened because of the on site contract signing.  When Steve toured the basement on the original visit, we had a water meter closet with shelves and a sump pump closet with shelves.  We told Steve we only wanted new doors put on those closets as the old ones were made of  paneling that matched the original basement walls.  In the contract, Steve wrote demolish closets.  We never noticed that as we were having so much work done, it was unfortunately overlooked by us.  So the walls were taken down and the closets rebuilt.  But Steve did not want to put shelves back in the closet.  So eventually, because I signed the contract, I had to abide by its statement, and pay extra to have this done.  I also wanted a ceiling in the closet as one  was in there originally, and after much heated discussions, the dry wallers put one in.

Overall, we are very happy with our basement.  The work was well done, the workers were all professional;  we worked with them through Steve so that he always knew what each of us wanted, as opposed to a foreman making a decision that we made. It was a needed change from a 70's basement to a new century look. I would recommend using the Basement Men, but I would ask next time to let me have the contract for a few hours so I could  think through everything that is in it, and then sign the same day which is how Steve works.  He was always on call, answered our phone calls promptly, and was always professional in working with us. His price was in range of three other contracts, so a client has to go with whom he feels the most reliable and honest.  For us, Steve and the Basement Men turned out to be that company.

  • This company worked on other small projects for me in the past and I hired them right away when I bought my new 2-beds condo. I needed a general remodel for the whole place: new kitchen, new baths, new closets, tile in the kitchen, carpet everywhere else, paint throughout and new electrical everywhere. I really like how they were ready to offer suggestions when I asked for paint colors, they communicated everything that needed to be, they even dealt with a crazy neighbor downstairs. The work was done in no time and I am happy with the results. I would highly recommend them to anyone and will hire them again if I'll ever need to.

  • We engaged Cambridge Closets to design and build out the shelving and cabinetry in our master bedroom closet as part of a complete remodel of our master bedroom. We found the company by doing an internet search. Upon calling the number in the internet ad we got in touch with Char Desmond who is Cambridge Closets. From the first moment we talked to Char our experience was nothing but EXCELLENT! She came out to look at our closet space promptly, she took measurements and provided a few options for closet design based on a few options we were considering relative to the bedroom remodel. We had great communication with Char and we never had to wait to hear from her. Char met every commitment she made whether that was appointments to come out, sending us plans/designs and price quotes or the actual time of closet install. The price of our closet we believe provided excellent value and high quality both in service provided and quality of the product. Char is incredibly knowledgeable, service and customer oriented like few other business people I have ever dealt with, patient as there was a long period between when we contracted with Char and when the remodel project was ready for the closet install and as straight forward and honest as few people we have dealt with. It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Char. I cannot recommend Char and her company Cambridge Closets strongly enough. I will only deal with Char and Cambridge Closets on any future closet or other space organization projects that we do.

  • I worked with four differnet closet companies in the area and Closet OS were the best in terms of pricing and intallation times. My designer Donna was very knowledgable and helpful and really listend to my needs. I was able to get the closet I wanted within my price range. She was very responsive and made several modificaton to my design, as I requested. The cabinets are really good quality. I would definetly used them again in the future.

  • This was a great experience from start to finish. Joel was responsive to my requests during the initial meeting and after drafts were given to me I was able to make additional adjustments. Patrick did a great job with the installation. He worked all three areas at a time to avoid any downtime which tired me out just listening too him running up and down steps between areas. We are very happy with the finished product and can finally eliminate extra dressers and rolling racks that were holding additional clothes. We would definitely use them again and would recommend to anyone.

  • I was dreading this necessary main bath remodel so much. As it turns out, I need not have worried. Jacek and his crew (mostly Paul & Ralph) made this a worry-free and pleasant experience. From start to finish Jacek (Jack) was very responsive. He showed up to make the estimate on time, had the quote back to me in the expected time frame, started the job on time (plus he called the day before, to confirm). Being new to bathroom remodeling, I had numerous questions about different materials that we were purchasing (we supplied the tub, tile, toilet, vanity, mirror, sconces, etc., he supplied all construction material) and he was patient with my queries, always returning my calls within the hour. He and his crew were very flexible too. When it appeared as though my tub would have trouble being installed exactly where I initially thought it should go, the team came up with a thoughtful solution that looks even better than my original (flawed) plan. Even though this required the installation of different supply lines, etc., it was accomplished quickly and professionally, with no additional charge, even though we varied from the original plan. Jack and his crew are very approachable and I was comfortable asking them questions, etc. The crew showed up promptly each day at the appointed time & stayed the full amount of time. They were VERY professional and showed respect for our home. They probably spent a good half hour tidying up, sweeping, vacuuming etc., each evening before they left. I am so glad that my husband and I chose these guys! Some of the others interviewed were within the the same price range, but even during the initial consultation, I didn't get the impression that they offered the flexibility that I might need, as a newbie to remodeling. As a stay at home mom, I would be the only one home during the renovation, so it was very important that I would be comfortable in approaching with questions and not feel "dumb" asking those questions. The guys always explained thoroughly. The job finished before the three week time frame given, and came in exactly at the price quoted. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. AND the good price tag on this job has allowed us to remodel another bathroom in the house. Jack and his crew begin remodeling our other bath next week!
