Lawn Treatment reviews in Hinsdale

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • This is an ongoing service throughout the summer season. I receive a call the day before they come, The technician always touches base with me before he begins and answers any questions I might have. After 3 treatments my lawn looks great. I am very pleased with their service.

  • Selvin promptly replied via email and iPhone messaging to my questions and promptly give me a quote that was fairly reasonable considering the size of my garden beds and landscape. The weeds where removed carefully and the mulching was done properly for up to 3 inches in all areas and all edges were blown at the end of the work and my property was left squeaking clean at the end of the work not to mention compliments from my neighbor across as they were doing the work. As they were finishing up, I asked them to edge three other plants on my property and they willingly edged these three plants and mulched them before they left.

  • Quick to schedule. Came out when scheduled. The job turned out to be a bit bigger than anticipated, but they were courteous and kept the cost low. It's based on square footage - so not a big deal for a few more $. The day of the work it poured. Torrential downpour. The technician waited out the storm and did the work between cloud bursts. He stuck around - even in the rain to make sure the job got done. Will use these guys again.

  • I am very happy with them. I have them come out to do some preventive type of work for me so I have been having them around since. The last service was in April this year, it cost about $130. I have been using them for ten years. I like that they are abreast and responsible. They are responsive and helpful to me. They always come out when they say and do the work even if you're not home. They are probably pricey. I would use them again.

  • The service went very good; it was fine. They came out, gave me an estimate. promptly came back and did the work. I paid them and am perfectly happy with them. I like them. They have done work in my yard before and do the basic stuff, but if you have any problems with diseases or whatever they have an arborist which was separate from my regular lawn maintenance. I have about a 100-foot pine tree that they were working on as well as a smaller, Japanese bush tree. I think they are a good, reputable company.

  • We love to garden and usually do everything ourselves, but life got busy so we called a landscaper to do the heavy lifting for us in the Spring.  The crew of four guys who showed up were great.  They were punctual, professional and cleaned things up really well.  This was a big and tedious job and they WORKED, so no complaints there.
There were a couple of negative things.  We have(had) a lot of native perennials in our beds, and, early in the growing season, they can be mistaken for weeds if you don't know what they are.  Sadly, an entire 10 foot by 4 foot bed of bee balm was pulled before I noticed and ran out to tell the workers.  There was also a communication issue with regard to a large area at the back of our yard that is very overgrown - I told the project manager that the crew did not need to weed that spot (full of scrappy buckthorn, thistle, etc. - we knew it was a mess and didn't want to deal with it at the time).  While I was away from the house, the crew attended to that area, which I think over-extended the project by one day. FInally, the project manager recommended a type of mulch with a pre-emergent weed killer in it. While that did cut down on the weeds for the rest of the summer, it also made it difficult for our annual seedlings and dahlia to take root.  So, while the gardens looked tidy and weeds were minimized, they also suffered from a lack of the usual annuals and dahlias that we typically plant.
I would have Hinsdale Nurseries back to do the mulching and dressing of the garden beds.  If I ever have a landscaper do weeding in the future, I would personally go through each garden area and make sure that everyone knew what was a weed to be pulled and what was a perennial to be maintained. I probably wouldn't use the pre-emergent weed control mulch again because we grow a ton of plants from seed and and rely on the seeds from the perennials to perpetuate the gardens from year to year.

  • Well this is not a good review.
In preface I had used TruGreen in a prior home a few years back and they seemed. They were able to rid my yard of weeds and help the grass grow thicker and greener.  Well, the local ownership must have changed or they have a different group of technicians who are applying the chemicals this year as my results have been far less than good this year.
This year, my wife and I decided to pull the trigger to have a "professional" address our crabgrass and weed problem in our yard. We had tried all sorts of residential fertilizers including Scotts, Weed B Gon etc, no luck. Pesky weeds.... Having had ok luck with Trugreen in the past, we contacted them again to come out and evaluate our situation with the specific request to rid our yard of the two main type of weeds we were having problems with. I was assured that with their treatments that the weeds would be gone in no time.
Ok, plop down about $400 and hope for the best. Well after a few applications I did notice that our yard was greener, but so too were the weeds!! I called Trugreen up and had them come out to evaluate. I was not home to hear what they had to say, but my wife was told that the reason the weeds were not dying was that the technician who treats our lawn did not know he was to spray with a "special" chemical to get rid of our weeds. Really?
Trugreen did agree to do two additional treatments to fix the problem, but perhaps the technician was upset that he was told to do the job again, but the next time they came out, their truck left a nice deep rut in the mulch adjacent to our circular driveway. Thanks buddy.
So after one treatment, absolutely no difference. Here is the really annoying part. Despite our problem we have been having, Trugreen calls us at least a couple of times daily! I know because I check caller ID when I get home from work. I was able to speak with them a few days ago and instead of being asked how the extra treatments were helping and following up with their work, the called proceeds to try to sell me more services!  Again, really? I frankly told them that perhaps they should do what we initial contracted to be done before trying to sell us more services
I am hopeful that the extra treatments will work, but have a hard time recommending them to any one in my region. I will follow up this review in a few weeks to keep things current. I hope this review helps someone!

  • The service was rendered promptly.  Nick was actually able to get to me within a couple of days.  He did an excellent job.  I had forgetten and left a large item in the yard.  It was in the way but Nick moved it out of the way and then replaced it without complaint.  He did a thorough job.  I could not ask for better service.
Nick is a very affable and helpful individual.  He also provided some cost saving suggestions and helpful advice at no additional cost.

  • This was our first season of hiring a landscape service to do our lawn. We got three estimates and Benito's was the lowest. They were prompt and neat and often did things we had not asked for--like taking away all our fall yard waste, not just the leaves, and cleaning out our gutters. We were very pleased and our neighbors thought they did a good job too since they have also hired them this year.
