I have been a faithful customer of this particular oil change center for many, many years, but that has all changed now. I was told on one particular visit that my serpentine belt needed to be changed. I called my hubby with the $45.00 quote and he okayed it.Strangely enough, some months later, another young man at this same shop told me my serpentine belt looked like it needed changing. I thought to myself, "If you had checked your records, you would have noticed that you guys already did the work!" I disregarded his staement as a worker trying to push sales. Some months after that, I had my car into a professional Auto-Pro shop for some needed mechanical work, and the man called me during the day to tell me I needed a new serpentine belt. Since it had been now over a year(tho barely)since the Grease Spot had changed the last one, I figured the aftermarket belts must be really cheap, and gave the go ahead to have it done again. When I got to the service garage to pick my car up later that day, the head mechanic came out with the belt he had removed and said it had been the talk of the garage at what terrile condition it was in...the worst they had ever seen! I laughed and said,"That's what you get for buying aftermarket replacement parts." He said,"This belt has never been replaced before. It still has the original factory numbers on it that are stamped on them. It's the original belt that comes on the car when it comes off the line at the auto factory." Realizing that I had been taken by The Grease Spot, I contacted the local consumer fraud hotline, and they advised me to contact the office for the Attorney General to file a complaint. Not wanting trouble, but realizing that I was most likely not the only person that this has been done to, I filed the complaint. Please understand, I was NOT trying to start trouble. I only wanted attention called to this matter. Not so much for a refund,(which would have been right for them to do in reality,) but to make them stop charging customers for work that they really DON'T do. Actually, in good faith, I have continued to have my oil changes done there, because they have ALWAYS performed that service well, and I wasn't going to dump the whole business for the deceit of one worker.I have had my husband take it there for me. I personally didn't want any face-to-face confrontation with any of them. The Attorney General's office reviewed my case and contacted the Grease Spot several times, but the business refused to return any correspondence or answer the complaint against their establishment. I just recently had to have my car back to the Auto-Pro shop for an engine flush, ect.,and the mechanic called me to tell me that someone had written the word "b****" in yellow oil-change marker on my oil pan, and that it was very recent. Well, I just had my oil done at the Grease Spot 9 days earlier. Name-calling stoops to a new low for this business, considering that I conducted myself respectfully towards them. I contacted our local news channel 8 because they have an "8 On Your Side" consumer help segment to their news show, and the gentleman who returned my e-mail contacted the corporate office of the Greas Spot company for me. He called me to tell me that he got a recording with instructions to "leave a name, and phone number and we will return your call within 24 hours". He gave me the phone number and I called and left my name and number and waited for them to call me back. Just as they said, a man called me within 24 hours to listen to what I had to talk about. Not only was this man, from the start, completely unprofessional in his demeanor towards me, he was contentious and rude. He quickly and continually tried to twist my words, telling me I had said something that I hadn't, as if I was the one in the wrong, and he ended up raising his voice at me over the phone in one long tirade towards me. I was shocked and unnerved at his behavior and made up my mind at that moment that I was walking away from the whole situation. I have better things to do with my life than to deal with a situation that had become so ridiculous. Several days later, the gentleman from News Channel 8 called me back to see if I had gotten my situation resolved and I told him what had taken place with this guy from the corporate office, and he encouraged me to at least get something posted about it on Angie's List locally, so here I am.
