Snow Removal reviews in Highland Park

Our long-time snow removal service retired this year. We have a long, narrow driveway, and it was very hard to find someone to plow  it. We saw an ad for Bur Oak and gave them a call. They gave us an estimate and set up a contract. They have plowed twice this year, each time doing a nice job. They did not come until very late last night, and it would have been nice had they come earlier so we could get out of the garage. However, I must credit them with showing up so late and ensuring we were clear this morning. I am sure they have many customers and the weather yesterday was just awful.

    Greenwise Organic Lawn Care LLC
Over the last year, I have seen their customer service and responsiveness go from great to awful.  This spring, aside from planting some sod, I could not get them to do any landscaping services in my yard.  Despite their promises and my repeated emails and texts, crickets.  Is this how you treat a customer that spends thousands of dollars a year?  They are great for weekly mowing but that's about it.
The latest communication, I emailed their General Manager back on October 8th:
My wife and I have been using Greenwise since we moved to Chicago in the Fall 2014.  We will continue to use Greenwise for snow removal and weekly lawn service but nothing else.  When we first started using Greenwise, the customer service was outstanding.  This year, aside from planting some sod for me and spot seeding, I could not get Greenwise to do any other landscaping type work.  I looked back and have at least 10 emails that have never been answered and probably 5-10K in work that simply did not get done this year as a result.  I'm very busy and don't have time to wait or chase people around waiting on a response.
I've given up and will be using Rocco Fiore next year.  I should not have to beg someone to come out and do work at my house or simply respond to my emails or texts.   I am sure Rocco would be more than happy to let me give them thousands of dollars of business a year since obviously Greenwise does not value or need my money.
I'm very disappointed in the way that we have been treated.  I hope we are the only customers that have been treated badly or Greenwise may not be able for very long.
No response to date.  Thanks Greenwise.

    Swistun Inc
The crew was sent out the same day I called for service, even though I did not specifically request emergency service and I was charged only the regular fee (no surcharge). The 2 men worked steadily and efficiently. Though it took longer than anticipated (being charged per time spent!), the amount of snow that needed to be removed justified the hour and 15 minute completion time. Looking at the big picture, the somewhat pricey fee for these services was probably worth it, as possible damage to my roof from ice melting snow might have exceeded that cost.

They did OK on the mowing, but towards the end of the summer, they didn't show up for 3 weeks.  I called four times and talked to the owner requesting that they come to rake up the leaves...and trim my bushes.  Since they didn't do it, the bushes  between my house and my neighbor''s house are now trees.  I repeatedly told him to have his men bring a big ladder to trim the bushes, and he promised they would, but they never did.  The one time they  came to rake the leaves (after my fourth call to them, they only did the front yard and ignored the  back yard entirely.  The bushes are now hitting my neighbor's house causing her to all to complain about it.  As a result, I am going to have to hire another company to do the work I already paid these people to do.  I cannot depend on their promises to get the work done.  I would like them to pay at least half of whatever I am going to have to pay another company to do the work for the rest of the season...including trimming my bushes.

Had to be and plead with this guy to finally come out and when he did, there was no area preparation so sod dipped to level below existing grass. I pulled it up, leveled the ground and re-laid it.

It's been a great experience working with Michael, and he has been a godsend with the recent weather that we've been getting.  The gentleman has been prompt and reliable, his price is reasonable, and unlike previous companies he has avoided damaging anything.  We'd highly recommend his services.

    Scott's Snow Plowing
Our experience with Scott's has been amazing. Plowing is done quickly. The company works with smaller trucks so they can easily make the twist and turn in our narrow driveway. They even got out of the truck and shoveled in front of the garage, the deck and deck stairs to our back door, another entrance to a back door, and the front porch and steps. We are very pleased with the service and price.

    3 Cousins Cleanup
3 Cousins arrived promptly for the estimate. However, they determined that my home was too far from their business to provide responsisve snow removal. I appreciated their honesty. We also talked about gutter cleaning and I received a reasonable estimate for that work.We had other issues that kept us from pursuing that work at this time. We will likely use 3Cousins for the gutter cleaning in the future. They were professional, friendly, and helpful in a variety of suggestions.

Horrible. They demand payment up front. I had to call twice to get them to come out to do the job, when they did finally come the quality of the work was poor and I am obviously very unhappy with the avoidable damage to my fence!
