  Windy City Skylight was great about scheduling the initial estimate visit and then the installation in a timely and convenient manner. The price was extremely reasonable, the installation efficient, and the new skylight looks great. A few weeks later, though, we had severe leaking. Although it took a while to get a call back, the company honored their guarantee and sent someone to come out and correct the problem. A few months later, we have had no further leaks and are very pleased. We would definitely recommend Windy City Skylight to others based on the quality of their work and being a company that keeps their word.

  I was highly satisfied with Swistun's work.  The only negative was the price, which was considerable.  However, the much less
  expensive roofing work my husband and I had contracted for about 9 years earlier obviously contributed to the water damage problems that ensued (note:  the costs of that earlier re-roof cannot really be compared to Swistun's much more comprehensive job, as that earlier work did not entail tear-off of old insulation, any repairs to the roof deck or any gutter work). . . .  .Thus the realization that "budget roofers" do not necessarily save money in the long run, since the consequences of poor workmanship must eventually "cost" the homeowner.
  Casey Swistun is most amiable, as well as knowledgeable.   He definitely takes his job seriously and brings all his considerable skills/energy to bear on each project he accepts.  While other contractors disdain homeowners' questions, Casey seems to enjoy explaining his recommendations and welcomes inquiries which allow him to enthusiastically go into all the nitty gritty.  He also is unusual in the amount of detail he was willing to include in his contract - a good thing.  Casey, unlike many contractors, actually created and processed the change orders called for in the contract. Upon completion/payment, he provided lien waivers.  As promised, he furnished paperwork for all the included manufacturer warrantees (roof, gutters, skylight).
  Though only time will tell if the roof installed by Swistun will hold up -  so far, so good.  The workmanship certainly appears superior; I am assuming it will prove long-lasting.  
  In short, I would definitely recommend Swistun, Inc. for roofing work, especially if the job in question requires any complicated engineering or problem-solving.

  Nyberg Exteriors

  Our house is an 1974 Victorian with a large wrap around porch and a skylight on the third floor that was put in by the previous owners.  We had had repeated problems with the skylight leaking and had had it repaired many times without success.  The seal has kept dry since the Nyberg repair.  The repair to the porch roof was a little bit complicated because it was difficult to find the exact source of the leak.  Nyberg did a great job finding and fixing the problem.  We were doing a number of repairs to the porch and repainting the house, so it was important to have Nyberg finish on schedule, which they did.  We would definitely use them again.

  . These guys were very professional and spent substantial time making sure we knew just what we wanted. Our older skylights and roof angles presented challenges. The bids were very careful and professional and very similar or better than other bidders. Work started as promised and the full week job was kept very clean and insident free. I would use them again but figure that will be many years out.

  Jeff was prompt with an estimate. Once we decided to go forward with the skylight he scheduled a day for the installation. He cut a whole in our roof and installed the skylight. Everything went very smoothly and we love having the additional light in the loft area.
