Every contact with AA was very cordial and professional. From estimate to scheduling to actual work. Crew showed up on time, worked quickly and productively. Quality of work was excellent and would heartily recommend AA for future work.

WOW. Quick turn around, very responsive, arrived on-time, uses quality products, no spillage and completed the job in high-quality fashion. We are very happy with the work that Skip & Israel did for us. We would highly recommend.

    Kaplan Paving Services
Kaplan does NOT stand behind their work. ***UPDATE 9-6-17*** After getting the run around and their story keeps changing, they have completely ruined our Labor Day weekend. First, they were to "repair" our new driveway on Friday, no show. At 5 pm Friday night, we were told they were coming on Sat. in the afternoon, they showed up in the morning, not prepped for the work that needed to be done. We were told Lars was to come out on Monday, and no one came. Lars just left, and now the story has changed. He is satisfied with our lumpy repair job, he now told me he is part owner, and he is happy. We paid for a NEW driveway last summer, we have had nothing but blown of calls, the entire company does not stand behind their work. We have been dealing with Jason jsiegel@kaplanpaving.com. I know there are a lot of people in my local Highland Park groups and Nextdoor groups that have had a lot of problems with this company. This was not a cheap job, and it looks horrible. I will make sure to post photos on Yelp and Angies List and in my local groups. This has been a horrible experience. Bottom line, they made a mistake, and instead of replacing the driveway, they are trying to "repair" it. They claim to be in this business for a long time, this mistake was an obvious one and should never have happened. If you are considering this company, please read their reviews on the internet. We should have. ** ***July 17, 2017*** Just got off the phone with Brenda. We have been sitting on a BRAND NEW DRIVEWAY WE PAID IN FULL LAST SEASON THAT IS POURING WATER INTO OUR GARAGE BECAUSE OF THE PITCH. In addition, they did a very sloppy job initially, see photo. WE WERE TOLD MONTHS AGO BACK IN FEB. THEY WOULD BE REPLACING THE DRIVEWAY. NO ONE EVER FOLLOWED UP. WE ARE NOW TOLD THEY WILL REPAIR THE NEW DRIVEWAY BY CUTTING IT AND SEALCOATING OVER THIS. WE AS PAYING CUSTOMERS WHO EXPECTED A NEW DRIVEWAY SHOULD NOT BE RECEIVING A REPAIRED DRIVEWAY WITH A SEAM THAT IS SEALCOATED OVER. I WILL PASS THIS ONTO MY LOCAL GROUPS FOR HIGHLAND PARK AND HIGHWOOD ON FACE BOOK. WE HAVE BEEN TREATED AS IF THEY WERE PAYING US FOR THE BUSINESS. UNREAL. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. IF YOU CANNOT EVEN MAKE A DRIVEWAY PITCH AWAY FROM A GARAGE THEN YOU SHOULD NOT BE IN THIS BUSINESS AT ALL. EVERY TIME WE HAVE CALLED THEY ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WHEN A MAN CAME HERE AND SAID THE GRADING IS OFF. I WOULD RATHER MY MONEY BACK THAN A REPAIRED NEW DRIVEWAY???? THEY OFFER NO MONEY BACK FOR THE INCONVENIENCE, THE WATER INTO OUR GARAGE, NO MONEY BACK FOR THE FACT THAT WE PAID IN FULL FOR A NEW DRIVEWAY????? THAT THEY MESSED UP? GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Total Paving and Brick Services, Inc
Great service, including the office. Incredibly responsive, and even accompanied me to the city building department when my permit was rejected the first time. Always polite and patient with my questions. And the driveway looks great!

Fantastic experience right from the start. Starting with a phone call, very knowledgeable and polite. Answered my questions and set up an estimate appointment. Oscar came, was also kind, and explained very easily ( I got a few quotes and explanations, believe me, not all easy to follow ) what needed to be done and gave me options. Quote was comparable, but with an added inch of asphalt. walked me through the process of permits and a timeline of what to expect, (not all done on the same day). Work was on time, so well done. My husband and I literally remark on the driveway driving in, and driving out. Smooth. They have a customer for life.

    Pavestone Brick Paving Inc
We contacted Pavestone and Mario quickly returned our call and set up an initial appointment. Mario came out, listened to what we were looking to do, and took measurements. He followed up within a few days with a written estimate. We were impressed with Mario, his professionalism and the fact that there were many, many positive referrals.
We gave Pavestone the job and have had zero regrets.  Mario walked us through the whole process and was patient while we figured out which bricks and colors to use, and  helped advised us on our choices. They also made us two computer "mock ups" showing a realistic rendering of what our project could look like upon completion. Mario genuinely cared and did everything possible to make us happy and comfortable with our project.
When our start date arrived, we found all the workmen professional and friendly. Everyday they cleaned up before leaving, keeping our yard and street tidy.
Although this company is very busy, we were given great attention through out our project. We know we  got a high quality job and we are so happy with how it turned out. Our house now has the "curb appeal" we have always wanted! Without any hesitation we recommend Pavestone Brick Paving, Inc.  You will be well taken care of-- and the end project will make you happy. They bend over backwards to insure their customers are satisfied. We would use them again in a heartbeat.

We had a great experience with them. They did a terrific job. Our driveway was in bad shape. They got it done while we left on vacation. We left with a crummy driveway and came back to a spectacular driveway. They gave me a fair quote and I got a discount. They were able to accommodate our schedule. We came back to this beautiful driveway with everything done very neatly. It improves the appearance of the house tremendously. I contacted them recently to come and do some more work for them. I have no complaints.

    American Asphalt Maintenance Inc
At first, I was going to hire a competitor's company. I reached out to American Asphalt Maintenance for another bid. I spoke with the owner, Robert, directly. He focused on educating me as to the differences between asphalt companies and the product they used. He did not mentioned any other company by name as he is very professional. Instead, he pointed out why his company, a family business, excels at what they do. I began to understand why the first bid was a little lower, but since a complete driveway tear off should last decades, I was not about to quibble over a few dollars for superior materials. As the homeowner, I needed to get a building permit from the city and I was walked through the process by Naomi in their office. She was very patient and knowledgable, as I had never been through the permit process before. Her patience continued as I had a plethora of questions prior to the start date. Thank you, Naomi!
The work began as scheduled and finished ahead of time. All concerns and questions were addressed immediately since Robert was on site at all times. The workmen were focused and obviously knew what they were doing. The driveway is smooth, graded, and now enhances the appearance of my home.
As a bonus, at the end of the work, I was informed that the company makes a donation to one of several charities of my choice as a way of giving back.
I would not hesitate to use American Asphalt Maintenance for the annual routine sealcoat process and I whole heartedly recommend their professional and ethical services,

    Performance Paving Ltd
Performance Paving was highly recommended by our landscape contractor.
In October 2014, we accepted a proposal from Performance Paving and we paid a sizable deposit of $2167. At that time, we were assured that Jason would get back to us to schedule the work for the following week. Jason did not contact us. Although we made repeated attempts to schedule the project, it did not happen before the end of the paving season.
I contacted them again in late winter (early March 2015) so we could be scheduled early in the spring, likely at the end of April or early May. Later in March, I learned from other people who were having similar work done that this work does not necessitate 4 inches of asphalt, which is applied in two layers, as was described in the proposal we signed. I contacted the building department in our town and received verification that for residential purposes, three inches of asphalt, applied in one layer, is recommended.
At this point in time, we asked for proposals from two other respected asphalt contractors that were highly rated on Angie's list. Both suggested one layer of asphalt and their bids were much lower than Performance Paving, in keeping with their method which requires less time and material.
We then contacted Kevin at Performance Paving and asked that he modify his proposed method for 3 rather than 4 inches of asphalt and a lower price. Kevin told me that this would be a far inferior product and he didn't want to do it. Subsequently, on or about April 13, my husband spoke with both Larry Kennebeck (owner) and his son Kevin. My husband proposed either a single layer application or a refund. Kevin quickly offered a price of about half his original quote, which my husband immediately accepted. However, Larry then said that the work would be done "in August."  His and Kevin's responses were consistently curt. and it was clear to us that they did not want to work with us.
We absolutely didn't want anyone working at our home who wasn't invested in working with us to meet any adjustments that might be required in process. So we subsequently asked for a refund, except for $400 which we offered and felt would more than compensate them for time invested for two extra trips to our home after their initial visit.  Larry told my husband that his firm had already invested about $2,000 in our job in time and no money would be refunded. Kevin said that his lawyers told him that they are entitled to sue us for the entire amount of the contract, but they would settle for the amount we had already paid.
So we are out the $2,167 deposit we paid them. Neither of the new contractors we met with require any deposit at all and the one we hired has had excellent suggestions about how they can work with us on issues that may need to be resolved as the work proceeds.

Some companies disappoint you and won't fix a problem.  Total Paving did a beautiful job paving my driveway, but the very next day a hard rain showed where there was a problem with how they had set the drainage.  After stopping by to see the problem, George sent a team to install a drain at the problem site and route the water directly into the storm drain.

Anyone can make a mistake, but not every company goes the extra mile to make it right when it happens.  I was disappointed, but now I'm a fan of Total Paving.
