The owner of this company is a scam artist. I poured a grage slab for him and he did not pay the the services. They do not return phone calls. He said the work was not acceptable but yet he made posts on facebook saying how good it looked. He aslo already built his garage on top of the slab that i poured. . Beware of this company. They are crooks.

Great work.  He helped me order the door with the correct measurements. He bought the new trim, stained it to match the color of the rest of the house, removed old door, and installed the new one.  Very reliable.  He was always on time, gave careful explanations, and worked with the homeowner on all details.  I would highliy recommend this company.

Tim and Jeff are simply the best. We got them through a referral from one of our trusted friends (best electrician in Lake County), and from our first meeting immediately felt very comfortable working with them. Everything was on paper, no verbal commitments compared to the other 3 bidders who changed their price almost every time we met them. So their professionalism and transparency is what really won them the job and they held true to that form through out the entire project. They took their time and did everything amazingly well. I'm not a construction person but I do know quality work when I see it. I wish Angieslist allowed reviewers to upload photos from work done by contractors.
They always showed up on time never made any excuses for anything and more importantly NO SURPRISES!!!! They even caught a mistake our architect had made before construction started and had him correct it and re-submit the permits.
I have a had a big problem with contractors over purchasing material and returning it for credit so I was really concerned through out the project about how much more I was overpaying but again not these Guys!!!! All the returns / statements showed all the activity and more importantly they stayed within budget and provided all the receipts including the returns/credit records.

I, 120% endorse this company and have reason to recommend to anyone. I cannot wait to start on my basement in a few years.
Ohh, they also recommended a fine carpenter to install some custom built-in shelves for our library and he too was a stud.

Working with Independent Living Solutions was the best remodel experience I could have imagined! We wanted to create an accessible bathroom in my parents condo. Communication was prompt and continuous throughout the project. We always knew what was happening along every step of the way. They were courteous, clean and very respectful of our needs and concerns.
Their professionalism and expertise was apparent in every phase of the work. Even obtaining the permit was a breeze because ILS provided everything I needed before I ever walked into the building department. I think "perfectionist" might be a good description. The workmanship is beautiful, attention to detail is amazing. Even now, almost 3 weeks later, we still marvel at what a beautiful bathroom they built.
Jeremy and Bryan Hanson are true professionals, they are knowledgeable and open to working with our specific requirements. What might be a small project to some was a big deal to my parents and we couldn't be happier with Independent Living Solutions. Not only did we get the function we needed, we also got a lovely bathroom in the process.

This folks were the installers that Home Depot subcontracted our kitchen remodel to. They did a great job with the cabinet install - no issues with that work. Problem was with floor tile install - the person who did it was not a full-time tile person - he was a cabinet installer who could do tile in a pinch and it really showed. Major issues with transitions between the kitchen floor and adjoining room flooring and a less than professional job with the grout. We ended up removing the backsplash tile work from the contract (with Home Depot's help) so we could bring in a better tile person for that. The company did try to make up for our dissatisfaction by throwing in a temporary sink during the time we waiting for countertops but I still have a kitchen floor I was charged $2,500 to install that I do not like. My one chance at a dream kitchen and it went down the drain. So much stress to try to get the issue addressed we eventually gave up. If you have Home Depot do your kitchen, do NOT ask them to provide a company for tile install, or you might have the same experience.

Initially, he was very gung-ho about the project.  He brought different people to help him each time that he came and was very pushy about getting paid in cash.  The fence is not perfectly square, with the panel closest to the gate not in line with those that precede it.  He didn't measure perfectly and had to screw 2"x4"s into several of the 4"x4" posts to make it possible to screw the panels in.  Angel did not come with all of the tools that he needed and had to borrow some.  He broke a hammer and then hid it the garage instead of admitting that he broke the handle in half.  Initially, he said that he would provide the deck screws, but then said that he couldn't get them and he stole a pound of them that weren't used.  When the panels were installed last Sunday, Angel that he would come back to cut the posts down to the city required six-foot height, insisted the he be paid the balance, but he still has not returned to complete the work.
The phone numbers for him are for other relatives, it would appear, who do not return messages.  When he's hungry for money, he responds to e-mails, otherwise, it is near impossible to get in touch with him.

When I moved back to the Lake County area to help my mother, i moved in with her and needed to increase the size of the home from the original 1300 sq ft home.  I hired an architect, and once plans were drawn, started getting referrals of contractors from different people, friends, neighbors etc.  I received this name from my neighbor, and had 5 other bids.  I met personally with all the contractors, showed them what I wanted, and explained that I needed to keep within a certain range as I was depending on funds from the sale of my previous home.

I immediately felt at ease with Ken Frank of Signature Development Group, Inc., and Brad Weber of BL Weber construction Company.  Brad Weber did all the concrete work and it is the best I've seen.  I told them what my figure was, we walked through and around the home, went over the plans,  asked/answered questions clearly and ensured I understood what was going to happen.  I recd all bids back, and not only was Ken's company referred by my neighbor, he also was the lowest bid, within my budget and with a local presence.  I signed the contract with them and away we went.  Anything that was not detailed on my architect plans was covered with their contract.  All was very thorough.  Ken had the additional challenge to "button up" the remodel, since my 82 YO Mother and I would be working and residing at the home while they were remodeling.  They set us up with a temporary kitchen in the basement, sealed off the main home, so that any dirt/dust was contained as best as possible.  All the workers, subcontractors hired, were professional and courteous at all times.  They became like part of the family.

Ken gave me allowances and gave me the latitude to choose my own fixtures, flooring, cabinets and tile work.  Contracts readjusted to an even lower amount due to my decision to use external dealers for certain items.  Even plumbing fixtures, they backed out since I decided to order everything online.  If I couldn't come up with someone to do further upgrades, Ken was ready with suggestions of people he had used in the past and gave me numbers for them and of course, the option of him hiring them or me on my own, but with him still coordinating with that contractor.

Ken gave me a timeline to work with, when things would be done, when I needed to order and have my special items to them for installation.  As with any remodel, there were several issues that go along with an older home, and they handled these challenges with professionalism and ease.  When the garage header was noted as rotted, they quickly found a solution and gave me a quote to complete the work.  Several items that I requested be done along the way were also handled quickly and painlessly.  I replaced all the windows, siding, roof which had to be repeaked to accommodate the remodel, extended the existing chimney.  They communicated with me throughout the entire process, took my calls, my emails and didn't think twice about answering and helping me with questions, concerns or additional items I wanted. They took the time to give me advice on items i was considering putting in whether good or bad, whether I should tweak certain things and played the part of my sounding board since I was doing this alone.  They always made me feel comfortable, explained things they were doing so that I understood (I got quite an education in building/remodeling!) let me come to them with any question, and let me take all the pictures I wanted (ended up with over 200 as they went along!)  They have a wonderful demeanor and great sense of humor which I truly appreciated!

The end result?  I'M THRILLED WITH MY NEW HOME.  My mother is thrilled and that's going some!  Ken Frank and his company Signature Development Group, Inc are, in my book, "Fabulous".   I highly recommend them.  Ken is as honest as the day is long, and I trust his opinion, judgment and overall work and ethics.  You will not be disappointed!

I was given this name as a suggestion for a local contractor for my 830 sq ft remodeling job. When I contacted the owner, John Ernest, I explained I had a very short time frame which to get another bid if he was interested and which he agreed to. I gave him a copy of my drawings which I paid for, and a time frame in which I needed the bid from him. On the Friday it was due, Mr. Ernest called and asked if he could have till Monday which I agreed to. He showed up timely on Monday for our appt., presented his bid which I thanked him and advised I would review and let him know my decision. After full review, his company was the 2nd highest, and I did not choose his company. The day of my decision, I received an invoice in the amount of $90 for printing costs of additional copies of my plans that he had made to give to his subcontractors in order for them to give him prices. I advised Mr. Ernest via email, that I was surprised to get an invoice from him and I was not informed of this "charge" upfront and would not have agreed to this fee. No other contractors (5) who bid my job charged me for this, so I explained that I expected him to mark this bill as no charge. I received an email from Mr. Ernest stating that ?your surprise is confirmation of your inexperience and our misjudgment of your character?. I took this as a personal affront. I found that very unprofessional and uncalled for. He stated it is common practice for the "owner" to provide the necessary documents i.e. drawings for distribution to the subcontractors. I have been nothing but upfront and honest in my dealings with him to this point and do not expect a "free ride" but do expect to be informed up front of fees. He is the professional who does this type of work day to day, where I as a homeowner, do not remodel my home every year, and would not consider an estimate to be fee based unless advised in advance. This was never mentioned to me. I stated that I felt this is a deficit and very misleading in his dealings with potential clients by his company not informing them of upfront fees and/or charges. I again asked for confirmation that he has marked this bill as no charge and have not received a response yet. I cannot attest to the company's overall work since I didn't get past the bid process.
