    Woodmaster Fence
Instead of a sales rep, the owner of Fencemasters, Rick was the only person I talked to. He was easy to work with and all promises that were made were done perfectly. The carpenter, Fransisco, who did the work, was a true craftsman. It was an enjoyable experience!

    ARTEAGA FENCE
GREAT! We wanted to fence in our 1/2 acre land yard. Lucio Arteaga gave us a GREAT price. Super quick to respond and truly a nice guy. When he went to pull the permit, we found out we are in a flood "way" which prohibits building a fence. We looked at the boundaries and Lucio came up with an alternative so our dogs could go out without leashes. The price was so great I had him sand, stain and rework the railing on the deck too, giving it a much needed update. We went from NEVER using our deck to what I am sure will be our favorite place in the house. We are already planning our next project which will entail small wooden porches on two entry ways that will match the deck and give the exterior of our house a nice face lift. Before choosing Arteaga, I contacted several fence companies to gather quotes. Most never returned my call and one even asked for me to send my land survey so he could do a quote from his office without coming to my house! Lucio Arteaga responded quickly. He called back the same day and was at my house within a few days. I thought I wanted one type of fence and he suggested something different that would save money and better meet my requirements. His only concern was to make me happy. I have several OLD privacy fence panels between mine and my neighbor's house that I assumed would need to be replaced. He inspected them and said they were in great shape, "why spend the money?" Honest, hard working and good people to do business with.

It went well. Admittedly, it took longer than expected to get them out here. But once they did, John Shogren got it right. He made me a happy customer. They initially installed my fence when we moved in here, and they did a fantastic job then. From all the local options, they weren't the cheapest, but I think we got the best value for the cost. This time around was for follow-up work. Happy to know they stand behind their product and name.

    Woodmaster Fence
Woodmaster Fence was 1 of 4 contractors selected from Angie's list.  Their bid was very competitive compared to the others, but the selection was based on the professional attitude conveyed by the estimator, who happened to be the owner.  Woodmaster Fence called the day before starting work to confirm logistics.  The crew arrived the next morning to start the project.  Project was completed in 2 days.  The crew was very professional and courteous.  I would highly recommend them to friends and family.

DogWatch by C No Pet Fence
All went well. We were able to coordinate the installation of a new driveway and the installation of the invisible fence, as the invisible fence wires needed to go under the driveway. We were able to have both the contractors work together for a successful invisible fence installation.
The company also helped train the dog and the homeowners. The installation was a success. The installation was clean and tidy.
I would recommend them to anyone looking for an invisible fence.

    Woodmaster Fence

Richard responded quickly to my request for a quote and arrived at the appointed date and time to measure the property. He was able to accommodate my request to quote two fence heights and several styles. He advised the amount of time to allow for a building permit that he would obtain. He also gave me an approximate start date which he later confirmed. His crew arrived on Tuesday and completed the installation on Thursday as I had been advised. The old fence was taken away and the area along the fence length was left neat and clean. I am very pleased with the new fence and the professional work performed.

    Woodmaster Fence
I first contacted Rick, the owner, in June about putting in a split-rail fence with woven wire, to help keep the dogs in and the coyotes out.  The day Rick came over to the house, I told him what I wanted.  I then asked him for options and he told me he could do chain-link or a wooden corral, but he would not recommend that for our neighborhood, which I agreed with. He then told me he could do a 5? split-rail fence, but would need to special-order the posts, since most split-rail fences are 4?.  Since none of the other companies we interviewed from Angie?s List could produce a fence that tall, we decided to go with Woodmaster.  Unfortunately, there were complications.
Although Rick swears that he told me that in order to get the fence up to 5?, the wire would need to stick up about 6? from the top rail, I do not remember this.  I do remember him telling me this the day of the installation, but assumed that because he was telling me about it, it would look acceptable.  The point is that whether or not I was told from the beginning, the wire sticking up from the top rail looks extremely tacky.
The day of the installation, he also indicated that the wire would be stapled to the outside of the fence.  Not knowing any
better (my mistake), I assumed that this is the normal way similar fences are constructed.  Again, although he says  that this is how he always installs the wire, it looks tacky from the outside.  None of the other fences I have seen around our neighborhood have the wire on the outside; it is stapled on the inside, which definitely looks better when looking into the yard.
Finally, I was expecting nice hinges and latches on the three gates that would look appropriate for a subdivision  (he strenuously recommended against the chain-link and corral gates because he said they were not appropriate for this very reason).  What we received looks cheap and does not allow the gates to open much past 90 degrees.
The day the sub-contractor left, I was happy the fence was in and the dogs could run free.  But over the next few days, my
wife and I became less pleased.  In fact, the fence looks so unprofessional that one of the neighbors called it a chicken
coop and compared us to hillbillies.  For a fence that was just short of $4,000.00, I was pretty upset hearing this!

Do I have some responsibility for this situation?  Absolutely! I should have required that the contract submitted have more specific information about the height, the wire and the gates.  As a result, I asked Rick to come back so we could talk about fixing things, assuming I would be paying my share of the changes.  After having to call him three times to set up a visit, he informed us that he would come to the house at 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning. Once he arrived, my wife and I shared our concerns with Rick and the subcontractor and Rick agreed to give us an estimate for the changes.  I was shocked to see that the
quote to correct the problems was for over $1,600.00.
When I asked for a breakdown in the price (multiple times) so we could talk about it, he refused, except to tell me that it would cost $600.00 to replace the gates with picket gates.  I replied that the price seemed expensive and asked him to just quote me the price for new hardware on the gates.  His reply was to change his story and say that the $600.00 was for just new hardware (hinges and latches). I was appalled.
At this point, I believe that the owner is mad that I do not like the way his subcontractor built the fence and does not want to negotiate a fair price for moving and trimming the wire and upgrading the gate hardware.  I will never use nor recommend Woodmaster Fence and I would encourage anyone considering using this company to be careful and request a detailed contract drawn up stating exactly what is provided, before using them.

    Update

After this review was posted, we received an e-mail with a new quote for $2,200.00 for the repair.  We are tired of how the price changes and the difficulty we have had trying to fix this problem.

    Woodmaster Fence
The process was very smooth. Rick came out and saw my property, I told him what I wanted, we discussed some options, and Rick made some very good suggestions. The best suggestion he made was to have the fence toe nailed to each post. My old fence was face nailed, the new fence is toe nailed and looks much cleaner and more professional looking. The new fence has two gates and Rick went over all the different placement options with me and.explained what options would work best and why. the best thing we did was to go with self closing hinges on the gates. Now I don't have to remind the kids to keep doing it. Rick's quote was in the middle of the three quotes I got from the fence companies. The quotes were all reasonable, but I went with Rick because he really made an effort to let me know that I would get his best work. When installation day came around, the two man crew showed up right around 8:00. They got right down to work removing the old fence. Auggie and his assistant put up the entire fence in one day. They didn't use any premade panels, the whole fence was built on site. They worked throughout the day, even worked through some rain showers to get the work done, and finished around 7:00. Auntie and his assistant were polite, courteous, and very hard working. The new fence looks fantastic. I am very pleased with the results. The guys cleaned up after themselves, and were careful about not destroying any of the neighbor's plants that ran along the fence line. I would definitely hire Woodmaster again. I did find a couple of cracked boards, Rick said he would replace them, no problem. I will update my review if that is not the case.

    Woodmaster Fence
Excellent, from initial quotation through completion of work.  The crew that performed the repairs were very skilled and actually made adjustments to the existing fence beyond the quoted repairs.  I am very satisfied with the end result.
I would not hesitate to recommend them to others and to use them again in the future.
You will not be sorry if choose WoodMaster Fence for your fencing needs.

    Aztec Fence Inc
There were two different crews, one for the fence and another for the deck.  The fencing crew got the dimensions of the fence wrong and almost completed the job.  Fortunately, my wife was home and decided to step outside and see how it was going.  She immediately noticed that they were building the fence several feet too long and had already put posts in the ground for the additional length.  She was able to get them straightened out in time.  Had they completed their error the fence would have come out of the back yard and past the edge of the house, turning into the side of the house at a very awkward position.
After the fence was done we hoped we weren't going to see any more significant errors and felt we really needed to watch these guys more closely, even though the deck crew were entirely different workers.  Unfortunately, we weren't going to be able to be at home during the construction as we were with the fence.
The deck was a complete disaster!  They didn't provide any spacing at all on the deck boards.  When I saw this I asked about it and they told me that's normal, that the change in the seasons will cause the boards to shrink and I'll have a perfectly spaced deck come Spring.  Our deck also had a skirt around the sides, they also packed these boards in tight against one another.  The result of these significant errors was that there was no way for air to circulate through the deck.  The change in seasons brought about the expected movement in the wood all right.  All of the boards cupped as they pressed against each other while expanding.  It got so bad you couldn't walk on the deck, it hurt your feet.  Aztec kept telling me it will settle out by Spring, not to worry.
Come Spring we had a deck that looked terrible and couldn't be walked on.  Aztec came out to our house and went on and on about how wonderful the deck looked and how proud they were of their work.  The only way to resolve this issue was to remove and replace the deck boards.  Aztec had initially offered to remove the deck and refund my money.  When I told them that I'd actually like to accept that offer they rescinded it.  Their best offer then was to replace the deck boards.  Okay, I said to go ahead and do that.  Somehow, they weren't able to schedule a crew or give me a date when that would happen.  So then cam the next offer, they would give me $3,000 and I could resolve the matter with another contractor.  Somehow the $3,000 never arrived.
I did hire another contractor to fix the huge mess Aztec created.  It cost me $3,500 to rebuild their mess.  During the rebuild the new contractor showed me that Aztec had used nails to secure the deck boards and explained that he hadn't seen anyone do that in nearly 20 years, saying that professional contractors only use screws to secure deck boards these days.
Aztec did not have the technical competency to complete our project nor did they operate with integrity.  If you hire this contractor you might have a different experience than what I had.  I do not recommend using Aztec for any project whatsoever.
