Appliance Repair reviews in Gurnee

The service provider arrived within the given time frame and repaired our washer in a timely, tidy, and quality manner, explaining the issues and exactly what he fixed. There was a little bit of a delay in response from the company in terms of initially scheduling the repair (I was told I would be contacted within the hour, but was contacted the next day), but it was still much more timely than any of the other companies I had tried to contact. I was overall very satisfied with the service I received and was even informed of an online coupon by the service provider after our home warranty company threw us under the bus and refused to cover the cost of the repair.

It was fixed, but not for anything the repairman did. Then broke about 2 hours after he left. When I called back they told me they couldnt return for 3 weeks. I lost a lot of food and had to buy a new fridge. He was here for approximately 30 min.

He had the parts in his truck, gave me an estimate of how long it would take and he was right on target. I am very happy with everything. (I had painted the room to match the washer and dryer blue accents and matched the chrome shelf brackets to the dials when I bought the set 3 or 4 years ago.)

When I called Mr. Gorham he responded right away and was courteous over the phone. I described the problem and told him I only needed help replacing the one piece (fuse), and so we scheduled a visit for a week later. The day of the visit, he was a bit backed up with previous work with other clients, as he advised me over the phone about an hour before we met. The roughly one hour delay was the only hiccup, the rest went very smoothly, and he knew exactly what had to be done for my model of oven. Between stepping into my house and verifying that the repair had worked, not even twenty minutes passed. Since it was fixed so soon, I also asked him to adjust a few other items as well. He happily obliged and was very kind while doing so (gave us advice, etc.). Altogether between removing the oven, swapping the part, and doing the other tweaks/cleaning he took about 40 minutes. I had expected to pay for a full hour of work ($50), but he only charged me for a partial hour ($40). Given that he got the job (and more) done so quickly and was so reasonable with his pricing, I would absolutely recommend him. Thanks again, Mr. Gorham.

Based on visual and touch inspection around the compressor and sealed system, he believed that it was some part of the sealed system that was bad. Only way to check for sure was install a gauge, BUT he said that would likely void any warranty left on those parts -- and advised to check back with LG regarding covering the sealed system / compressor parts. Follow-up to that, LG Factory Service came, ordered compressor and all the sealed system parts. Came back and installed only new compressor and recharged system. LG repair was $0.00, thanks to extended warranty that was honored (even though HH Gregg is gone). All working again now.

Dave has now sold the business to his partner, Omar, who also does a great job! Our microwave was 6 years old but suddenly started doing crazy things. Omar came out within 2 days and got it working again in a half hour for under $200.

After they installed it, they used my dumpster to dispose of the old one rather than take it with them for disposal. I also had to clean up all of the mess they left behind from the box and packing materials the cooktop came in. The vent blower needed to be rotated/adjusted to accommodate the duct work for connection to the outside exhaust. They never even looked at the installation instructions to know that part of the installation was to loosen four bolts to rotate the fan assembly into position of functionality. Instead they argued with me and told me I had to figure it out for myself. After I read how to adjust the blower, I called the contractor back and told them they needed to come back out and finish the installation. The guy rudely told me that it wasn't his job to adjust the blower and to call his manager and then immediately hung up on me! I called his manager to tell him that his company needed to come out and finish the installation and to complain about the rudeness of his employees. The manager gave me a bunch of excuses about the incompetence and inexperience his workers had with installing cooktop ranges and then asked me to email a copy of the instructions and he would look it over and call me back. He called back the next day and told me the warranty company denied the claim and said I would have to pay extra because he told them it was a modification and not part of the original installation. After HE argued with me, I told him I would call the warranty company directly myself. I called and they told me that the contractor listed it as a modification therefore it was outside of my contract rules and I would have to pay extra. I told the warranty company about the rudeness of AA Repair and that they should find a new contractor. I also tried to explain to them that it was in fact part of the installation and not a modification. After I finished registering my complaint through my warranty company, I ended up finishing the installation myself! In the end I still paid an extra $50 for supplies to complete a job that was started by incompetent workers. Do yourself a favor... FIND SOMEONE ELSE!!!

Count us in with the customers who speak highly of Mark's work. The afternoon before Thanksgiving, he arrived on time and quickly identified the problem and explained the breakdown of new parts plus labor. It was reasonable as usual. However, our machine needed an uncommonly found part that Mark called around for and went out to pick up. We've called Mark three times previously. It's always a good experience, thanks to Mark's expertise and professionalism.

I waited a few weeks to write this review, because I wanted to be fair and objective in my narrative. While there seem to be some decent people in the office handling the calls, the repairman they sent over was extremely unprofessional, aggressive, and rude. I caution anyone in Gurnee, or any surrounding towns for that matter, to stay away from this company. I would never use this company again. I had a washing machine that needed urgent repair. We prepaid the ~$65 trip charge to come out. No problem. Seemed fair enough. As soon as the company agent stepped inside the house, he saw his way straight into my kitchen, did not ask me where the machine was, nor did he offer to take off his shoes or put on some kind of shoe covers. As my wife and I were trying to catch up with his rapid entry into our kitchen and laundry room, we explained that the machine yielded us a couple codes. Without diagnosing the problem, taking out his tools, or anything for that matter, he told us we needed to buy a new pump for $380.00. We have no problem paying for a $380.00 pump, assuming that was the real issue, and provided he would've actually diagnosed the problem. There was a little more dialog that ensued, but sensing this was not going to end up as a positive customer experience, i asked him to please leave the home. He would not leave and became belligerent. I asked him two more times to leave the home immediately, but to no avail. At that point, it got physical. I have 3 school-aged children who were witness to this unnecessary confrontation. Gurnee Police were called, and a police complaint was filed against the employee. To add insult to injury, i called the office of The Appliance Repairmen of Gurnee numerous times. While there was a manager who was very kind and apologetic to the situation, the owner never called me back -- not until I advised that I would go to the BBB and file a formal complaint. He attempted to call me one time, but unfortunately, we never connected live. I later called Sears Home Services to repair the washing machine, and their diagnosis determined that we did not need a new pump, and in fact, the filter was merely clogged with coins and hair pins. Sears spent at least 45 minutes with us diagnosing and fixing the problem and providing us a working unit. He was dressed professionally, was polite, very professional, and took his time to diagnose and fix the problem. The Repairmen of Gurnee get an F.

Svilen was very responsive when I requested service, and able to come within 2 days to service a connection oven/microwave and dishwasher.

He contact me while en route, was on time, courteous, and respective of my home by taking care to cover surfaces he was working on.

He was able to fix the microwave oven/convection, as well as my dishwasher which had a small issue I forgot to tell him about in advance. He thoroughly tested both appliances not just to make sure they worked, but to make sure I was personally satisfied with his work.

These two repairs took about 90 minutes, and the cost was $330 (all labor, no parts needed).

Finding quality, professional service professionals like Svilen is why I value Angie's List so much.   I had a great experience, will contact him without hesitation should any of my other appliances have an issue, and definitely recommend him to others. Call Svilen if you have an appliance issue, I am confident you will be as satisfied as I am, along with everyone else on Angie's List.
