"First off I want to be clear that this review will be updated once we have some time with the windows and door. As many of the previous reviews have given B&B" a very bad review I was very concerned about what I had gotten in to with a signed contract. My comfort factor was that I hadnt given any money as a deposit. The owner Bill has had some recent issues that have affected his business administratively, he is trying to correct this. My biggest complaint with Bill is his inability to communicate in a timely manner. During the last couple months I have addressed this with Bill, hopefully he can improve on this. There was a significant delay in getting my windows in, this was due to changes in the manufacturer (Sunrise Windows) as well as Bill having a significant amount of window work. My windows were scheduled to be installed today, the team arrived at about 0830 hours and went right to work. I recently had other work done to my house which I made Bill aware of so the crew knew what they were getting into ( new hardwood floors and new paint throughout). Well,
(team leader),
and ??? did a very good job of taking care of all the new work. As I mentioned I wont know how the windows are for some time and I will update later. But I will say the crew did a great job installing, they work together, cleaned up throughout the job and from what I can tell did a great job installing. There was a problem with the one half of the sliding glass door that Bill brought, he then went to Home Depot and picked up a whole new door. This was at the end of the job and I knew the guys wanted to get going but they continued to put the effort in once Bill returned with the door and did a fine job installing that as well. Bill has promised me that he will be following up with Sunrise Windows and if there is any cost adjustment he will pass that on to me. With this and the price break he gave me on the door I felt that Bill was trying to "make it right" from everything I went through especially not getting my windows for this winter. One of the walls in my newly remodeled bathroom will need to be touched up, although I was disappointed this happened I certainly can see how this could occur especially as this was a second floor window. It was not done due to negligence or carelessness..it as an accident no biggie! During one of our first meetings Bill went over the products and pricing, one thing he did mention that stayed with me was the quality of the product is important of course but the installation is more important. With that said I feel the team today did a very good job installing the windows and door. I will probably use B&B Exteriors again. As of tonight I will give them an overall grade B with the potential to upgrading it to an A if there are no problems with the installation. Thank You!! Bill

"The first thing that I loved about
Was that I dealt directly with
the owner. When I first spoke with him I was a" little concerned as to how they were going to quote my windows without coming out to my house. Well no worries he's got it down and by the time I was done with our brief conversation he had me convinced that
was my company of choice. I had one other company that came out and after two hours I pretty much kicked him out of my house after the third time he dropped his price.
gave me one price, told me it wasn't going to change and that was it. The installation team was great. They cleaned up after themselves and left no
behind. They were respectful of my home and one of the technicians even showed where he nicked one of walls a little bit. I appreciated his honesty and it took me ten minutes to fix it. What a seem less process overall. I love my windows and patio door and I would highly recommend
to anyone. Thanks again for a great experience.

Dear Angie: I recently replaced my single-pane windows with a dual-pane style. However, noise from outside seems louder than before. Why would this be? – Dezell, San Luis Obispo, California

Hello - I hope my answer will help point you in the right direction.

The reason you're having a hard time getting clear information is because there are hundreds of companies saying their window is the best. There are probably millions of different features you can choose to have for your windows and in price ranges from $169-$1200 (per double-hung window).

I've been in the business for 15 years and have seen many different window products from many different dealers and manufacturers. This all comes down to: "what's important for you and your home?" If you want a strong warranty from a company who has a full-time service department to give you piece of mind and service your windows should needs be, or are you looking at only those companies who offer true wood interior windows that you can paint or stain to match the home decor? Whatever is your hot-button, then that's where you want to start.

I would recommend you first choose how you want your new windows to look. Wood-interior with vinyl clad is only offered by certain companies, while there is a vinyl woodgrain finish to give you similar results without the maintenance. If you're only looking for a white interior and don't want the maintenance, a fiberglass or vinyl window would be the best choice from what is offered in the market today (vinyl will be less expensive - not necessarily cheaper quality). If you are going to change out a window to a french door and a door to a window, then you WILL NEED to find a contractor with some carpentry experience. Some companies will tell you upfront that they do not handle those sorts of remodeling projects due to the complexity and time it would take to get it complete.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to personally help you with your project as we work in the New England Area. However, if you wish to talk further, please feel free to email me at: sven@ritewindow.com and I'll be happy to let you know our prices for what we offer so you can compare and hopefully find a similar company to do the work for you near the Austin area.

Cheers!

Get your roofer back out there.  Course of shingles above the window need to be pulled, self sealing flashing, drip caps, and counter and step flashing are going to be required here.

This is a flashing issue as the window connects to the mansard roof surface.

Condensation and a leak are two different and very noticeably different (i.e. volume) things.

Flashing and roofing on Mansards can be tricky but is sounds very much like a roofing issue.

?

+1

Much easier to scratch and typically not as good a finished quality as compared to glass.

Benefits are the resistance to breakage as mentioned by LCD.  Any glazing shop should be able to re-create that panel.

?

For a broken window (or leaking seal in multi-pane unit), for a standard roughly 2x3 foot window, can run from low of about $75-125 for single pane to more like $200-300 range for triple pane, depending on construction and any special ultraviolet or heat reflective coatings. If a removeable window unit, of course cheaper to remove it and take to replacement glass place then have them come out, measure glass size, order glass unit, then come back to install.

If taking in yourself, commonly they can do single-pane in an hour or two, but count on a week or so typically for sealed double or triple pane unit to come in, so you will have to seal the opening in the interim. That is an advantage of having them come out - they measure and determine type of unit on first visit and can seal with tape and plastic sheeting (if you have not already done that), then come back with new unit and install a week or two down the road - but you are not stuck with an opening in the wall for a long time.

?

Thermal numbers look okay when looking at the NFRC.

Do you have any other data on them?  Air infiltration, Design Pressure, Visible Transmittance, and Condensation Resistance are all good evaluators.

http://www.mercuryexcelum.com/images/customer-files/Advantage.pdf

Air infiltration rate is way high at 0.21.

It may look nice in person but the performance numbers are below average.

came over and gave me an estimate and explained the new windows and all its features in detail. He gave me a price and I put down a deposit and ordered the window, I expected the final cost to be higher as it usually is when a contractor does work, the "o by the ways". Six weeks later we scheduled a day for him and his guys to come out and replace the window, they did a great job and they cleaned up very well not leaving much evidence behind of their work. When it was time to give him the check his price was exactly the same as his estimate. Very satisfied with the work and professionalism, will definitely call

in the future for my window needs. I have also referred them to my friends.

Lithau did an excellent job on the walk-thru of the house and made recommendations that made the decision to go with

provided an excellent product with an excellent cost. The crew came despite the snow that was falling throughout the night. They shoveled out an area and placed sheeting on all parts of the floor where they worked. I was impressed with their work ethics and diligent speed of which they worked. The individual that did the trimming was impressive as he worked with speed and accuracy in the cold weather. I would and have recommended this company to anyone looking at needing window support.

The work was completed, as planned, and I am very happy with the outcome. I had some plastic "magnetite" inserts in the windows which had been installed by the previous owner. These inserts required extra time and effort to remove.
