  • The door to door salesman setup my appointment. I told him and his manager that they would only be meeting with me. I own the house in my name only. The scheduling area refused to keep the appointment with me only for a bid without my husband.

Tim allowed me to inject my opinions into what type of equipment that I would like then used his own knowledge to help me upgrade for the same cost. Tim knows his stuff and has the track record to prove it. I have used him both in my business as well as my personal dwellings and have always been more than satisfied.

  • Tony walked through the kitchen taking notes and explaining how he might go about salvaging the kitchen. He was honest about what he could do and what was too far gone. After having another contractor come and look at things, I decided to have Tony do the work. I told him I would like to pay him after the work was completed, and he assured me that that is how he always does business. Tony estimated the cost and time it would take, and we were on. He came 2 days later, started early in the morning each day, and worked until the kids came home from school (the other guy worked about 1/2 day, was always late, and some days didn't even show). The job took a day longer than Tony estimated, as he kept encountering more problems as he went along with the work. He didn't charge me extra for this, which absolutely amazed me! (I think maybe he took pity on me!) He did a beautiful job, and even did a few extras, no charge. I can't say how pleased I am with my "fixed" kitchen! Tony will be the FIRST person I call the next time I need anything done. He's a talented, hardworking, genuinely nice guy.

  • We agreed to break down the payments into 3 installments...beginning, middle, and end. After 2 payments, John asked if I could pay the remainder, as he was having some financial difficulties. If I didn't trust him, he said, then he'd rather I didn't pay him (okay, so I fell for the manipulation.) BIG MISTAKE...I paid him everything but $200. After this, he came sporadically, telling me he would be finishing up soon. There were sloppy areas, but he assured me they would all be cleaned up at the end. I am in no way an expert on remodeling or handywork, so I believed all the gaffs would be taken care of. I made a punch list and it was always kept on the counter for him to consult. Well, I'm sure it's no surprise, I was left with an unfinished, sloppy kitchen. Also, almost a full case of extra wood from my floor went with him.Calls weren't returned. I had several different handymen come in to see what it would take to finish up the job, and was told by each of them that not only was it sloppy, he took shortcuts and did damage to many of my wood moldings (sawing into then to make his shoddy drywall look better). Here's a quote from one of them "This is about the worst job I've ever seen. Have you called a lawyer?" He caulked EVERYTHING! There were gaps between the wood flooring and the wall trim, so he caulked it! There were gaps between the cabinets and the old wood molding, he caulked it! (the caulk was brown, so at least there was some effort to blend it in!) Two inch gap between the back door threshold and the bottom of the door. My daughter and husband each practically broke a toe on the homemade "threshold" from kitchen to dining room. I guess if nothing else, I learned that regardless of how amicable and confident the handyman is, you still can't trust him. My husband and I saved up for a long time to have this done-we are by no means wealthy-and were very excited to be doing this. I realize that it was my fault for being naive enough to pay him, but I don't understand how any self-respecting person could behave this way. I'm hiring someone else to try to undo some damage (some can't be undone, ie. woodwork), and to do the finishing. And, no, he will get no money until it's completed to my satisfaction. He said that's how he works anyway...a good guy? I hope so! I will mail John the bill, just to let him know I'm thinking of him : ). What a horrible experience.
