Extremely disappointed. He asked what kind of mower I had, and described it as shown above; specifically, it has a 5.5-horsepower engine. Despite the presence of a large Briggs and Stratton sign outside the location, I was told "we don't work on Craftsman mowers anymore." I asked him when that started, and he said, "oh, about five years ago." Considering this is a Toro dealer, I guess they make more money selling new Toros than they do repairing old Craftsman mowers. It's a good thing I didn't bring the mower with me, as I would have had to lug it back into the storage shed.

I called Richard's Tree Service to get an estimate on a Monday. He left the estimate for me on Tuesday for when I got home from work, I called him on Wednesday morning to accept the estimate and by Wednesday afternoon the tree was gone! That is OUTSTANDING. He made this very easy and was very professional to work with. I will definitely work with him again in the future.

Amazing.  On time every time.  Advice for treatment and watering.  Yard was turned around from a crab grass infested yard to immaculate green.  I loved seeing it progress and before I hired this company I was thinking of laying sod.  After this was completed my yard looked like a newly laid yard.  Can not recommend more.

In preparation of selling our old house, the landscape needed much work.  We had an old pool hole in the backyard that needed filled and seeded as well as the premiter of the house around the side and front needed regraded and sloped away from the house.  Josh came out and looked over the site and took down information he needed to prepare a bid.  The bid process took a couple of weeks, but came back very reasonable.  In the time frame from sending back the bid to the job being completed I had a patio and sidewalk replaced.  The contractor who did that work actually left quite a bit of debris behind, which Altered Grounds noticed when they came out to mark the project area.  As a courtesy we met again to go over the debris and some additoinal work they could help with to clean the debris and regrade other areas with the excess dirt they would have.
A week or so later and I receive an email from Josh saying the job was completed.  I was completely amazed by how good it looks.  I couldn't imagine having done that myself either.

I needed some bushes, I.e., burning bush, etc. trimmed back. There were 3 all together. I also needed 3 small, dead shrubs removed. I had purchased an Angie's List deal for $149.00 for 6 hours of yard clean-up and tree trimming. He came out first to look at everything and go over what I wanted. He was very nice and professional. I can't remember if 2 or 3 men came out to do the work, but they did it very quickly. However, I did have to ask them to trim the shrubs more because one bush was still blocking one of our doors. They removed the shrubs but he did end up charging me more money. I guess I didn't understand the deal because they were there much less than the allotted time but I had to pay more. They did get done what I needed done so, all in all, I was happy.

Called Irish Construction during business hours.  Got voicemail.  Left message of work I needed done (pour concrete patio), location of project (near Granite City, Illinois) and my name and telephone number.  Never received any response.  I assume he did not want to come to Illinois as it would cost more for mileage.  If that is the case, then he should have returned my call with that information and indicate that he did not travel to Illinois on  Angie's List.  I certainly expected professionalism from someone who supposedly has an "A" rating on Angie's List.  One wonders about the quality of reviews.

Ken's crew showed up exactly when they said they would and went right to work. You could tell from the start that these guys knew exactly what they were doing. They worked safely which was definitely a concern when you have men climbing in trees on your property. They had nice new equipment including an awesome bucket truck. My dog accidentally got out and one of the guys took it upon himself, without me asking, to chase him around the neighborhood and bring him back. Ken pointed out to me that a little trimming need to be done on a tree that was hanging over the gutter on my house. With approval from me, he trimmed it up and didn't even charge any more than his original quoted price.

He came super fast and did a great job. I was worried because a large limb was laying on my roof so he came asap  He did a great job even though there were power and cable lines near the tree on one side and my house was on the other.

Overall, the job was completed as contracted.
Dane Thebeau, owner of the company, contacted me timely after signing up for the special.  Special was 6 hrs of work for $149..
On 11/15/13 Dane came out and I told him what I wanted done.  He wrote out a contract and said he would have workers out on
Sunday 11/24.  Due to a personal commitment I asked that it be scheduled for today 12/01.  He called yesterday to confirm the
arrangements.  He told me the workers would be here today at noon and he would call me an hr and a half prior to let me know
they would be timely.  At 11:13 AM (per my phone register) he called and said they would be here in 10 minutes.   I was in the
shower and my husband took the call.  They arrived at 11: 35.  They were nice and went right to work. I could not say anything
negative about the workers.  They did what I wanted.  They completed the work in less than two hrs..  I asked how much time
I had left?  (I have plenty of work that could be done!}  The worker I think was in charge said they had used up the time I paid
for.  He said they arrived at 11:15 and it was about 1:30.  I said I thought it was for 6 hrs work.  He said it figures out to be between
5 and 5 and a half hrs actual time in man hrs..  He said he doesn't know how they actually figure it.  I would have to talk to Dane.
After they left I came in the house and it was 1:22pm( per cable box)
Dane is a young man who "tries too hard".  I find him very difficult to communicate with.  There was a lot of confusion over whether
or not a tiller would be needed.  He wrote in the contract he was using one, again said it in the phone call confirming the appt, however when the workers arrived they didn't have one.  I became skeptical at that point.  However, they got the job done w/o it.
Dane in the mean time had called and implied that I said it wouldn't be needed. Every time I tried to say something, he would interrupt me.  I finally told him that if the job wasn't done adequately, I would call and he could bring the tiller.
    Concerns: Lack of effective communication,
Discrepancy in time advertised and time actually worked. When I got in the house and verified the time of phone
call, arrival and current time, it figured out to over $75 hr,$37.50+  per man.  It was yard work not psychiatry!!!
Based on the whole chain of events, I would not call them again.          UPDATE: At 1:57 pm on 12/2/13, Dane called and left a
msg asking that I call him.  I did not return his call.  He called again at 4:58 and started explaining why the workers left and he
owed me another hr of work.  He offered to send another worker out.  I declined his offer.  I do appreciate the offer but felt I would
leave well enough alone.  I will accept partial responsibility for the communication problem, however the advertising special was
misleading, be it the fault of the business or Angie's List. Again a lack of effective communication!!  He is a very ambitious man
with a strong desire to succeed.  I hope my review does not prevent future interest.  This very well could have been an isolated
    incident, I hope it was.

Matt came to my house the day I called for an estimate. He was very polite and helpful. He gave me his estimate. I agreed to his price. Later, he called me to set a date for the trimming. In a few days, he was at my house to do the work. Matt did a excellent job with the branch trimming and the cleaning up after the work was completed.
