    Skunkmasters
He was quick to respond when I called. He stated he just happened to be heading to my neighborhood on another call. When I described that our dog had been sprayed and had rubbed himself against our couch, he described the situation as "catastrophic" and said he was going to reschedule his other appointment so that he could first deal with our "catastrophic" situation. When he arrived, he did the sniff test on the different sofa cushions and covers that were outside in the sun. He confirmed that the oil hadn't penetrated into any of the cushions, but concluded that the covers were a "disaster". When I asked what it was that he would be doing to remedy the situation, he said he would treat the covers with a neutralizer and stated there was no guarantee the treatment wouldn't discolor or otherwise ruin the upholstery. He added this was beside the point, since I had no other alternative. When he asked about my dog and whether he required deskunking, I explained that I had used two products designed for skunk oil removal and that we had bathed the dog multiple times. Our dog did not have any remaining skunk smell. He seemed intent on treating my dog. I asked what it was he was actually going to do and what it would cost me, I told him I felt this was all a buildup/hard sell, Having a dog skunked is unpleasant, but in my opinion, it's far from catastrophic. I felt as if I were being primed to be sold an overly-expensive service for my catastrophe. He became indignant told me he had five other "customers" waiting for his services today, and walked out of my home. I let him know that this was not acceptable. He'd wasted my time by having me wait at my home for his scheduled arrival. I have never had a service provider refuse to provide information about their estimated service costs or about what they actually will be doing. I would never recommend the services of the "skunkmaster".

    AUSSIE PET MOBILE
It's the same stellar performance as before. I use the same groomer, they're always on time and always do a wonderful job. They come with a little van and park in front of your house. They do them all at once, it's not like your dog is sitting at a grooming shop all day. Usually it takes about an hour for my dog. They actually do blow dryer, so they're really good. For my little dog, for the full nails and everything, it's $85, which is more expensive than a shop, but I think it's worth it because they have to cover the cost of their van and my dog is real happy and not traumatized. My dog was totally traumatized by grooming shops. They come, they park, they do it. She is a little scared, but they're done in an hour. It's not she is in an assembly line and then she is brought right back to the door.

    CARRIAGE HILL KENNELS
Our dog was having seizures and was on medication which seemed to help.  While in Carriage Hill, he died of a seizure.  It may not have been the fault of the kennel, of course, but it left us with an uncomfortable feeling about it.  The person who spoke to us when we went to claim him was very sympathetic
On other occasions when we boarded him there he was well cared for.  However, when we had him groomed there, they often cut his nails into the quick so they bled, and this was not addressed by them even by the time we picked him up.  He resisted going there after that.

    GROOMINGAYLE'S
Trimmed legs, ears, chest, and hind quarters. Did not cut the dog's back or sides. Clearly not a summer cut. I am concerned because my dog came home lame and is having difficulty getting up. We called the shop and after trying to convince us we were wrong, they offered to recut the dog. I declined because I don't want to risk further aggravation to his hind quarters. They did not offer a refund.

    Aussie Pet Mobile
Just wanted to update my review. I've been using Aussie Pet for about 2 years now. They are always professional, prompt, and discuss what I want done. Now that I've used them for awhile we have figured out a regular schedule of about every 10 to 11 weeks so my dog doesn't get too matted and need to be shaved. Today I had Ann as my groomer. She was excellent. My dog wasn't freaked out at all and looked terrific.
Price was still $85 and I tipped $15 for a total of $100.
    I highly recommend them.

    Below is my original review:

My dog (A 10-pound Bichon mix) is totally freaked out by traditional grooming shops, so I wanted to do mobile grooming. I called to make an appointment and left a message. They promptly got back to me the next day. I talked to Nancy, who I believe is one of the owners. She was curteous and asked me for all relevant info. and answered all my questions. We set up a grooming time. Nancy was also my groomer. She arrived promptly on time and we discussed what was to be done, verified price, etc. The van was parked right in front of my house and was its own self contained grooming shop. The process took a little under 2 hours to completely groom and wash my dog. My dog looked great when she was done. The key thing for me was that my dog was not freaked out at all when Nancy brought her back to my door. She was her normal, happy self. This alone is well worth the extra cost of a mobile groomer (it was $85 plus I added a $10 tip). I'm definitely using them again.

    CARRIAGE HILL KENNELS
We took our dog there about half a dozen times. Each time he became more frightened, finally refusing to get into the car. The last time I took him there, he shook uncontrollably. As the owner took him back to the grooming area, he dragged my little dog by the leash around his neck. NEVER AGAIN. I don't know what happens back there, but it can't be good.

Top Dog Moblie Pet Grooming Salon
Anne has been coming everyother month for almost a year now. Our 80# dog doesn't like car rides so her mobile unit is perfect for us. She does a very good job. Once she called our attention to an infection on his skin. Another time when she groomed him she put his medication in his ear for us. And for the holidays, she took a picture of him & put it in a holiday card she gave to us. All these little things are what makes a good groomer a caring groomer.

CLIPPER'S EDGE PET SPA & BOUTIQUE
We had the same groomer (for different dogs) for over 25 years. She retired. We then tried another groomer in Northfield and were very disappointed with their service (the people were not very friendly). Then we tried a groomer in Glenview (2 times), and each time we were only fairly happy with their service. We tried them one more time and the day the dogs were there (at 9am), the groomer did not call us until 2:45 that day to say they were ready. Previously, on the other times we brought them in they had called by 11:30 or 12:00. I was a little concerned. When we picked our dogs up, one of them was throwing up, and the groomer said, "I don't know why she is sick." After we got home, she had diarrhea and was throwing up for about 8 hours. We wanted to take her to an overnight animal hospital, but couldn't find one in the area. The next day she seemed OK, but didn't want to eat all day. Something went wrong, but I don't know what. Anyway, my vet recommended Susan at Clippers Edge, so we tried. I am glad to report that we believe that Clippers Edge did a fantastic job on clipping our dogs (the best in a long time), and our one dog came out happy and bouncing around, like she had been to a party all day (the same one that was sick). Needless to say, we will be returning to Clippers Edge and will recommend them to our friends. Thank you, Susan!

CLIPPER'S EDGE PET SPA & BOUTIQUE
Susan (and her family) truly loves animals. She is professional and very down to earth. I have trusted her with an old Labrador who was my first baby. I have used other groomers in the area and no else treats my pets as kind and loving as Susan. I highly recommend all of her services.

    GROOMINGAYLE'S
The grooming was fine but my (easygoing) dog was stressed afterwards. I tried using this groomer three times. After the third time of me/my husband picking up our dog and being met with very nasty attitudes, my husband told me to never take his sweet Labrador there again. Wise advice. A fine bath, but I'm not so sure that these people really like animals.
