Tom Horn Remodeling, Woodworking, & Carpentry
I'd worked with Tom on our flooring, and once that was done we were ready to install our kitchen cabinets, and he was available, so we hired him for that work as well. Overall the work spanned 6 days, but not full 8 hour days each day (or every day in that span -- I don't recall exactly). There were a LOT of complications, so in the end it was not an easy job. And we were not in a rush, so we weren't expecting Tom to rush through the work. But more important, we were in a financial pinch, so we really needed someone willing to do as much work as we could afford and help stage us to be able to finish the rest, and Tom was incredibly understanding and supportive in that regard. The challenges -- 1. galley kitchen that was 1/2" short of 8' for half of it, and then the second half was on a floor that sloped downward. 2. 4 units were incorrect and unreturnable, and two required major customizations 3. One room feature required additional modifications to a pantry unit (this one was a known task in advance) 4. units put directly next to walls would rub the wall when the doors were opened, so always needed 1/2" spacer strips made 5. the cabinets we purchased were not of high quality, so units rarely fit side-by-side easily Tom showed up on time on the first day we agreed to work, and set to work immediately. He does not waste time when he's "on the clock." Part of helping prep me for eventually finishing the job, he made a point of explaining some of the thought-process behind each measuring step and positioning the units. We progressed methodically through the longest wall, eventually adapting to the sloping floor. The end result was an absolutely level 20' run of cabinet tops -- when we had our counter tops installed, there were zero complications, which I think is a testament to the work Tom put into making sure that run was perfect. On the shorter side of the room, we had to install two 8' pantries. They needed to be cut shallower (because they were incorrect units), and then notched for an exposed pipe in the wall. Tom worked through those modifications and they ended up installing perfectly square and stable. At that point I had to take over the remaining units which were, by then, relatively simple. With Tom's instructions I was able to tackle the remaining 6 units (Tom installed 18, including the two 8' pantries). So overall the the work spanned a Monday through a Saturday, and I was able to finish the last units on that Sunday. And as noted above, there were no issues requiring rework or adjustments. The collaborative and friendly style Tom has was invaluable to me, and is a big reason I'd readily hire him again for any work I needed done.

    Chi Renovation & Design
Chi Renovation did a wonderful job renovating our one-bedroom Streeterville apartment. Everyone we worked with (including Julia, Tom, Ron) was professional, responsive, and attentive to our needs. When we first met with Tom to get an estimate, he suggested design ideas and was very detailed in his approach and really listened to what we were trying to do with the space. Once the project got going, one thing Chi Renovation did that the other contractors we considered did not do was provide a designer to work with us. He was very consultative and helped us realize the design we were looking for -- from cabinets to colors, flooring, hardware -- everything. And Ron was great to work with as the project manager. Always available for my questions, walked me through any issues that required immediate attention. Only a couple of delays that were related to building management and re-ordering cabinets, but everything went smoothly and as designed. I would highly recommend Chi Renovation if you're thinking about any renovation work for your home.

    4Ever Remodeling
We had a great experience with every project. 4Ever remodeling has really transformed our home into a personal palace. They always seemed to finish ahead of the final date. The team ( Martin, Rob, Greg, Tom, Jose, Magda, Ralph, Jack ) that worked on our home were wonderful and very professional. They never left a mess before leaving the projects. Only this one time we had a small issue with my dishwasher leaking after they finished the kitchen, about a week later I discovered the leak, so once I called the office they promptly sent out a handyman within one day. I love to entertain my family now. Their work is exceptional and fairly priced.

Thomas was great to work with, the bench seat and molding look great! He is very precise and takes pride in his work. He always explains options and helps customers pick the best option for their needs. He is not an in and out rush job kind of guy, he takes his time and makes sure the the work is done right. He listens to customer feedback is genuinely concerned about customer satisfaction and most importantly the end result looks great. I would highly recommend.

    Hinwood Inc
Hinwood did an outstanding job! Dilyan and his team were very professional, trustworthy (very important to trust folks you let into your house) and above all their work and craftsmanship is far superior to anyone else you could hire. Each of the guys that Dilyan had in working with him on our job really were the best at their individual crafts. The custom built cabinets came out much better than we could have imagined and he ended up giving us 25-50% more storage space without expanding the kitchen. He had no issues with us adding specialty hardware in mid-project, so we could have inserts, extra sliding drawers, and swing out shelves to optimize the hard to reach corners. If you care about quality and attention to detail, then you want these guys for your job! We will definitely use them for our next project and would highly recommend them to our friends and neighbors.

    R A Peterson
We hired Bob based on the recommendation from our interior designer who had worked with Bob several times before. He came in, discussed the project with us and our designer and came up with a design for our living room wall. This was our first experience with custom cabinetry so we were a little sticker shocked by the estimate but having a clear understanding that getting exactly what you want has a cost, we decided to invest in the custom work. We were not disappointed in any way with the process, the time, workmanship and finished product. Bob worked with us on our targeted budget, was fair, clear in his communication of timeline (and even finished ahead of schedule) and was very easy to get along with. The installation good about 2 1/2 days to complete. Bob came and delivered the shelves himself and was there for the entire process of installation along with another helper. It took them about 2 1/2 days to install. He spent half a day just making sure the finishing touches, cabinets and door alignment was just right. The finished product was a gorgeous shelving unit that really is a showpiece in our living room. We get so many compliments from our friends on the unit. Bob is an honest, hard worker who definitely loves what he do and he wants to do it right. He was a pleasure to work with on this project.

Tom Horn Remodeling, Woodworking, & Carpentry
Tom rebuilt the door using an extra larger door that I happened to have. His work was impeccable. The door is better than new. His price was fair considering the time and the fact that it saved my marriage! Don't hesitate to use his services. Tom, you are a top notch professional.

    Neighborhood Remodelers
This was the second major home remodeling project that we have attempted in the 30 years that we have lived in our house.  Our first was a complete bathroom remodel, done in the summer of 2013 by Neighborhood Remodelers (NR), whom we obtained from Angie's List.  We were so pleased by that experience that we went with this firm for our kitchen project, and we are quite happy that we did so.  From start to finish, the people who are part of NR have done a superb job in all aspects of what is, to me at least, a very formidable task.  The excellent architectural drawings of Jill Stumpf as well as her advice helped us immensely during the planning phase as well as in our shopping expeditions.  They provided essential guidance to the craftsmen as they assembled the materials into the finished product. Our day-to-day progress was monitored by project manager Mike Cooper, who was completely responsive to our questions and concerns, making daily visits to our home to stay on top of the work and giving excellent suggestions when asked.  Much praise must be given to Marek and his crew of highly skilled workers for dealing with the many challenging issues that arose during the course of the work.  These included Chris, who was largely responsible for accomplishing most of the project, with some assistance from Robert and Jack (who was the craftsman mainly responsible for remodeling our bathroom two years ago).  The field people had fine support by an efficient office staff, led by Luke, Kerin, and Samantha.  All of the staff did their best to minimize the discomfort of the experience.
We were fortunate in being able to schedule the various phases of the work without much delay-time intervening.  For example, we were able to schedule the demolition phase just as the cabinets were about to be delivered, and the countertops were constructed (by DTK Stone Works of Wheeling, IL, quite expeditiously I might add) as soon as the cabinet installation was completed.  The result? There was minimal down-time when nothing was happening and during which we had to contend with the logistical inconveniences of the project.
Overall, I was impressed by the work ethic, communication skills, and business tactics of this family-operated company.  My wife and I give them our highest rating and unqualified recommendation.  We would certainly hire them in the future for any additional remodeling work that we might need.

    Castino Restoration
When a new disposal was installed, the plumber who installed it told me that he noticed some mold underneath the sink.  He recommended Castino.  John and Peter came out to provide an estimate and were very thorough.  Peter was the project Manager and led the team on the project.  He did a phenomenal job along with the rest of the team.
    Very professional:
    - at house when they said they would be
    - great communications throughout the project (from explaining exactly what they would be doing before getting started to sending photos throughout the process)
    - respectful of my home:  When they removed the countertop, they asked where I would prefer they set it while the work was being performed rather than just put it wherever
    - provided multiple solutions when issues or additional work was needed (in their line of work, they have to get into a project to discover the full extent of the damage/issue) and they did not default to the most costly option
    - strong work/project results (impossible to tell that work was done)
They also did only what was needed.  What I mean by that is that if only some drywall needed to be replaced, that is what they did, rather than lowball on price to get in the door and then upset to make more money.  I never felt they were pushing things just to make more money.  They did what was needed, when things came up, such as mold on part of the cabinet, they provided options and recommended what they felt was needed rather than what would get them the most money.  Very honest throughout the entire process and I felt like they had my best interest in mind.
I was so pleased with the work Peter and the team did that I had them help on a second project.  I would very strongly recommend them to anyone in need of restoration help.  Great people, great work and very honest to deal with.  I would not hesitate to recommend them to others or to have them help again on a project.
