Window Replacement reviews in Glencoe

    Brayview Construction Group Inc
Quality work. Attention to detail. Always came when Adam said they would. A couple items were re-done to our satisfaction without any hassle or increased cost. Renovations in an old house often result in nasty surprises and the need to adjust plans. Brayview probably had some difficulties here that it did not anticipate. Yet, the work went well, and the add-ons and necessary upcharges were reasonable.

We have no complaints about the quality of the installation, and the crews were polite, skilled and professional, but project management was not great. We had a detailed plan for all the trim work, which included a number of variations from the default. Although it was all written down, and we approved and initialed each variation, nobody passed this information on to the crew, and nobody on the PG side was on top of these details. In the beginning there were several instances of the work being done wrong, and in all cases we were the ones to catch it. They fixed all the mistakes without complaint, and started to confirm details before installation, but we had to monitor the work carefully. We also had some issues with the length of the job (estimated at 1-2 weeks but took 3-4 weeks) and communication about when they would and would not be on the job. However, the quality of the finished product and their willingness to do what it took to get it done correctly are to their credit. Also, they kept the job site cleaned up. They also pulled the permits. They have a good warranty but we have not had any issues so can't comment on that. Our experience is that really good construction managers are very rare birds, so we would still recommend them, with the caveat of staying closely involved.

Appointment was very easy to schedule online/through email.  The service provider called to confirm 20 minutes prior to arrival and arrived right on time.   He counted the windows and told me exactly how much more than the deal I had purchased.  They got to work right away and did a great job cleaning the windows.  We were impressed with their work and would use them again.

Beautifully in all ways.  They have helped lover the heat coming in from  the west summer sun and have completely eliminated the condensation and consequent dripping and pooling of condensate on the wood framing at the bottom of the each window which had resulted in wood rot and mildew.

The tech came and measured the windows in my basement. We had a discussion on what was possible. The tech presented our options and gave me an estimate. He then asked if I wanted to call my husband. I told him no and we talked a little bit more. Then he wanted to leave because my husband wasn't there. I told him I make the decisions. I felt very insulted. He told me to speak to the office. I called them and they sent his supervisor supposedly to make it up to me. He came out on a Saturday. My husband was not happy. He stayed until the tech arrived and spoke with him telling him he was not happy with the way I had been treated and that I was perfectly capable of making a decision. This tech told me the other guy was nicer than him. He asked me what the price I received. He told me the notes for the quotes were $1,000 per window. This sounded a like a preset price. That wasn't what I was quoted. i was first quoted something along the lines of $10,000. I told him that was way out of budget. This was not the only estimate I had received. The first tech talked to me about different kinds of windows. He then quoted roughly $6,000 before he left abruptly. There was no paperwork despite the fact I had asked him to leave the estimate. the second tech then quoted $14,000. I told him I thought he was coming to make this right but he refused to go any lower on the price. wouldn't discuss anything with us. left abruptly as well. made it a big deal that he was on Angie's list. the techs were contradicting each other and it was very frustrating. Somebody called from the office blaming me because my husband needs to be there and told me my husband had to be there but this was not the case. They also advertise they give restaurant gift cards for estimates and I have not received those. Both techs were late for our appointments.

The windows are good now. When they originally came out half of my windows were damaged. It took three separate times for them to come out and correct the problems and multiple phone calls to the manager. The project turned out fine but was a hug hassle to get everything done.

During the initial estimation process, I had to call Kevin a few times for clarification of the quotes.  He always responded promptly.
Crews arrived on time, protected furniture inside and plants outside.  They ripped out the old windows, filled the old sash cord pocket area with insulation, installed new windows, and added aluminum trim on the outside and caulked all joints.  Their cleanup is very thorough. There's a lot of trash involved: all the old windows, framing, sash weights, etc and then all the packaging from the new windows, but it all disappears by the end of the day.
My husband was concerned that the windows would be narrower because the new ones' frames fit into the old space, but because the frames and dividers were narrower than the old ones, we now have more glass,  not less.
The picture window was about 5 feet high and 8 feet wide--a major undertaking!  There was some plant damage outside, but a) it's fall and those perennials are going to die back anyway and b) I think that moving the old (clouded) glass and bringing in the new one must have been very difficult.  I wasn't able to watch as I had to go to work.  Now that the new window's there, the room is incredibly brighter.  It makes the windows flanking the picture window look shabby--yes, I have even more windows to replace.
I also felt comfortable leaving the workmen in my home and having them lock up when they finished.
On the first job (9 windows) they worked a full day.  On the second job, they completed the 17 double hung windows in one long day (8am-6pm), and came back a second day for the picture window.

I have dealt with many contractors and projects involving 4 different homes, but I must say I have never seen anyone being as clean as these guys. Despite some of the windows being very large, not a single wall was scratched nor dented. This is something that always happens and in fact sometimes should even be expected, it's the nature of the jobs.
The windows and their screens look wonderful, they were installed on the expected delivery date and the job was performed within the provided time frame and quality.
I am very happy with them and will definitely use them again and do recommend them.

Darek was very nice , knowledgeable, and efficient.  He took off his shoes when he was in the house, which I appreciated.  Darek completed all of his work.   I would recommend Darek.  Thanks Darek.
