ABean's Lock & KeyJon is incredibly skilled, prompt, and friendly. He rekeyed the locks on a hodge-podge of doors on an old house I was remodelling. Did the work in less than an hour, despite having to pick several of the locks since I didn't have the original keys. He also fixed a stuck pin in one of the locks, otherwise I might have gotten locked out someday. AGENERAL LOCK CORPGeneral Lock is now located at 2414 W. Fulton St. Chicago, IL 60612 I highly recommend General Lock. The front door knob to our four flat condominium building was having some issues with the latch not retracting fully. If the turning of the key was forced, the latch would retract, but there was concern that someone’s key might break off in the lock. The front door to the building is not shielded at all from the elements so it is fully exposed to Chicago weather. When General Lock arrived, they adhered to all Covid protocols. They confirmed the situation that had been described. Since the door knob was 15 years old, it was decided to replace the door knob and latch system rather than attempt to repair it. The locksmith also noticed that the front door was sagging a bit. He tightened up some of the screws on the hinges which helped eliminate some of the sagging. The job was completed quickly and the front door now opens perfectly. Thank You General Lock!- Jane F.

DI have used Quick Key many times in the past and you may wonder why I'm giving such a negative review despite using them multiple times. They are hit or miss on their lock repairs, but it only became apparent over time. Sure they would "fix" the lock initially, but should I really have to have it repaired over and over again? This has happened with multiple locks in multiple locations. Big red flag. But what put me over the edge was a quote I received for a video intercom upgrade. Without consulting with me or investigating the current installation they sent me an estimate with all new parts and no explanation about labor. Do I really need all of these parts? Maybe, but Quick Key didn't seem to care, just to bill. When I tried to explain to their manager why this was not a good business practice (at least for customers), I was told that "they did nothing wrong" and this is how they invoice. Add to that their constant reminder that I have the RIGHT to do business with others. How condescending. Of course I can and I will. It's amazing to think that in a time when so many businesses and people are struggling, that a company can take such a cocky tone with any customer - basically, we don't need you. When I left the call, I told them how disappointed I was and that I felt it appropriate to leave reviews that reflect my experience. Their response was to threaten legal action. Needless to say, I have no interest in ever giving them a dollar of my money. I will take their advice and move on. Before you do business with them, maybe you should heed the same advice they gave me.

AWe were assigned ABK through our home warranty. Bryan was awesome, he got 8 locks quickly onto 1 keyset. The warranty only included 6 locks, so he did have to charge us for the 2 extra but it was well worth it, he even replaced a deadbolt and door handle for no extra charge. My husband also wanted a lock put on the bathroom door and Bryan took a picture of it and said he'd send us the piece in the mail. Great service!
