    BLUE SKY BUILDERS INC
I originally got a quote from the garage company whose commercials are on tv all the time. Then I did a quick google search and found their reviews and BBB ratings are horrible! My second quote was from Blue Sky. Their reviews and BBB ratings were GREAT! So they came out and gave me a quote. About $8,000 LESS than the first company!!!!!! (and a bigger garage door opening - 8 foot versus 7 foot). Dave the salesman was great. No pressure at all! It took about 3 weeks to get the permits, then the fun began.... First up was the demo crew. They tore down my old garage in about 2 to 3 hours. Extremely professional and cleaned up after themselves. Less than a week later, the concrete guys came. It took 2 days to frame, then pour the pad and apron for a 22x22 garage. About 3 weeks later the framers came. I think it took them 3 days. Another guy came after them to clean up. Within a week, the garage door and gutter guy came. He was here and gone in the same day. A week after that, the electrician came. Took him 2 days. Overall, every crew was on time and very professional. They were there at 7 am. Worked til noon. Lunch. Then left when finished, or at 5 pm. Finally, the inspector came. He was impressed with the straight lines and how everything was done.

    Good Quality Garage Doors
Kimo came out and gave me an estimate on replacing my garage door. He told me exactly what I needed. He did not try to upsell the door or opener which I appreciated. I was able to have the work done the same week. Kimo was friendly and professional and did excellent work.

Ortiz Garage Doors and Openers Inc.
I received a call within 30 mins. after completing the Angie's List form. Mr. Ortiz was professional and gave me plenty of information to help me make my decision. He came out the day before installation to ensure that the measurements I gave him were correct so that there would be no problems with installation. He wanted to be sure the size of the door was correct. From the time I requested contacts til the time the job was done was two days. A great job!

    Triple M Concrete
Terrible, terrible, terrible. Added an extra unwanted step which would have caused railings to be crazy. When they "repaired" this error a huge gaping hole appeared in porch. Another company came to patch it. Let's hope the "patch"holds. Keeping their card so if ever asked I can tell others to never use this company.

    Economy Fence Inc
Economy Fence was responsive when we called for the quote, and seemed clear in explaining what work would be performed. Rich suggested a novel arrangement for the chain link gate, which works for us and saved some money.  We chose Economy Fence over another slightly less expensive provider because Economy Fence had less of a backlog.
We put in our deposit and applied for the village permit.  Once we had the permit, we called to schedule the installation and the person answering the phone was rude and unaware they had our deposit.
They arrived later than scheduled to start the work, when I had taken time off work to be home.
We knew the installation would be two days, and thought they would be consecutive, but it wasn't until the first day of work that they explained that the chain link gate would be fabricated after posts were set, so the rest of the install was dependent on the fabricator's schedule. We had to keep calling to check when the work would be done.
The quality and appearance of the wood fence is generally excellent, and when they encountered some unexpected underground concrete near a utility pole, they adjusted their pole layout on the spot to work around it, and the end result still looks like it was planned. The installers who came the second day apparently didn't get the instructions I had given to the first day's crew, and so didn't finish the end of the wood span quite the way I had asked..
Unfortunately they did a sloppy job placing the concrete around the posts, and left a lot of cement on the posts above grade.
We're a bit disappointed with the chain link.  We purchased black vinyl covered fabric, and prefinished black posts with the gate painted to match.  The posts were scuffed during installation and show large vertical scratches still visible after cleaning.  The paint on the gate started chipping almost immediately near the latch, and primer is showing.
The weather had been wet, so the installers understandably got muddy shoes, but they cleaned them off on the stone edging of our garden beds.  They sprayed our trash can and one of our shrubs (nowhere near the work) with the spray paint used to mark layout (?!?).  Some metal scraps from the chain link were left in the yard.

    BP Sealcoating and Paving
Nothing and went no where!  I called in Spring for my Sealcoating deal that was paid for in 2013. I had a date of a Friday in May, and a raindate that would take it to Monday.  Not a phone call, no work done, no note, nothing!  This company has my phone number and has never given me the courtesy of a call.  Each time I call I get a recorder, no matter what time of the day or night, since May.  I have just now left yet another message and it is August 18, 2014, nearly a year later

    A Complete Door Service
Mike responded to my Angie's List request for an estimate within 45 minutes of my sending it one evening.  Due to the cold weather and a broken garage door opener, I was eager to get a quick response.  Mike agreed to come a couple days later on a Wednesday when I would be home.  His willingness to communicate via text was helpful because it provide quick responses to short questions.
Mike arrived around 1pm even though we had said "morning", but he did respond to my requests for updated ETA pretty quickly.  When he arrived, it was clear that Mike can quickly size up a problem with garage doors and openers, and he started assessing my issue posthaste.  My garage door opener motor was working, but nothing was happening with the chain.  By the look of the springs and when he lifted the door manually, Mike determined the springs were old and no longer assisting the motor much and that's why the gear was probably stripped.
He offered to replace the springs and put a torsion system in its place, which is much better than the old side springs for balancing the door and giving the opener proper lift assistance.  He also gave me two options for the opener - he could fix it for $150 or replace it for $300.  He recommended the latter because if the fix failed (the gear got stripped again), I'd have thrown away the first $150.
He left and I did some research, and decided to fix the opener myself for the cost of parts, and if that didn't work, I'd have him replace the opener anyway.  I decided to have him install the new springs, because that should keep the gears from being ruined again by keeping the weight off the opener.  His quote of $300 beat the competition so I scheduled him to come the following week.
Mike arrived when he said he would and hit the ground running.  I think he can install the torsion springs in his sleep if he had to.  He also made an adjustment to the bottom door rollers, advised on how to keep the system working in good shape, assessed my repair job on the opener, finished putting the chain back and reassembled opener case, and explained what he was doing each step of the way (because I ask a lot of questions).  He also warranted the springs for 5 years as well as the existing door.  The whole process took less than an hour, and he did the job with a smile.
I am very happy with Mike's service and I would definitely recommend him to others!

    Damico Paving & Sealcoating
Brad provided an estimate which I found to be fair.  This was a long driveway and required extra care around the garage, fencing and deck.  The job didn't get started for a few months, but that wasn't important to me.  The crew was very efficient when on-site and left me with a beautiful, properly pitched driveway. I am very pleased with the work, and will call them in the spring when it's time to seal-coat...

    G & G LANDSCAPING CO
The price listed is for cutting my lawn monthly, which I think is reasonable. They aerate for $45. I like them, their people are nice and they do the work well. They are here when they say they will be. I will continue to use them in the future. I am happy with them and the nice work they do. So far, I've not had any trouble with them.

    Bald Eagle Construction
Kevin (owner) worked with my schedule to provide an estimate of the job and complete the work. He was always available by phone, and impressed me with his patience and ability to respond in a professional and timely manner to all questions and concerns. He also impressed the neighbors who observed his crew working on the job. They liked the quality of the job and the clean-up at the end of the day.
