Blinds And Curtain reviews in Evanston

    Ambiance North Shore Window Fashions
Wow, I am yet to ever have the motivation to write a poor review. I had such an appalling experience at this place I think it'd be a disservice to humanity if I didn't describe what happened to me here. I started working with Debra; she came to my house to measure my windows and made me a quote for my window treatments. I have a large, brand new $1M+ home in Evanston that I needed to get furnished. She quoted me over $11k and I was even planning to spend more on additional products not in her quote. I had every intention of moving forward with the business and had not shopped around anywhere else. Suddenly, I had a lot dropped on me a day after Debra sends me the quote. My home flooded for the second time and I was dealing with that situation. I had a number of other serious life issues that occupied my time as well and that become my priority. Additionally, I work a demanding job. So, in the interim, Debra had given me temporary, paper blinds for my bedroom, a total of 7, ******, $2 pieces of paper. Mind you I did NOT ask for these, she GAVE them to me. Literally, didn't even know about temporary blinds and was just given as a gift from Debra. Because I did not contact her and accept her offer immediately and make her my priority, she decides to text me the following: "Hello Katie, This is Debra from AMBIANCE North Shore Window Fashions in Wilmette. Katie, we completely respect your right to shop your Proposals; however, we would be out of business if we equipped all POTENTIAL customers with temporary shades. In your case, you gave me every indication that you were ready to proceed with Ambiance. Not only did you accept 'A' temporary shade, but you accepted the entire box of shades, even though YOU knew you were still shopping our Proposal... not nice! This gesture was made out of kindness and consideration; we knew you had some problems with closing and then flooded the day after you took possession. We would respectfully request that you return all of the temporary blackout shades, used or unused, so that we can reuse them for their original intent. As an additional consideration, I would be glad to pick them up anytime today... just let me know. Thank you, Debra I will pick them up tomorrow, around 3:30ish. If you will not be home, please leave outside the front door. Thank you." I'll let you decide what you think about that message. As for me, I am extremely offended by Debra's psychopathic behavior and have decided I will NOT give her my business!!

    Simply Custom Blinds
Excellent service! Pricing was very good based on my online research. The showroom is a very valuable asset that enables you to view and operate the alternatives. Their in-home visit then lets you decide on materials and colors. You are dealing with co/owners with 20+ years of experience who are knowledgeable, friendly and down-to-earth. We highly recommend them.

    PEACHTREE BLINDS OF CHICAGO
Not well. Peachtree Blinds of Chicago owner, Rocco Cafaro, became irritated when he was delivering the blinds and couldn't hold the lobby door, and stormed away leaving the blinds in my building lobby, and needless to say uninstalled. He claimed rude behavior because he couldn't gain access but apologies were refused. In my entire life, I have never had such an experience with a merchant, vendor or virtually anyone else. Rocco was rude, inconsiderate, and most of all UNPROFESSIONAL. This company deserves to go out of business if it treats all its customers in this fashion.

    Leo's Furniture & Upholstery Inc
Frank did a fantastic job of redoing my Vintage furniture.  The best thing about him is that he really listens to you so you get what you want.  Since he listens to you, he also makes suggestions that you can go with or keep it your own way.  He has a good eye for color combos which most people would think is common for his business but it's not.  He also knows his designers so when you're looking for a specifc color, he pulls out the right book.  he also asks your budget so he's won't push more expensive options than you're willing to pay for.
1940s chair - Frank used my barkcloth curtain for the floral.  he suggested the corresponding beige and blue trim and it worked!!
1950s club chiar - still very comfy but now the color and fabric choices pop!  He also made a small storage ottoman to match
1960s chaise - Frank made it look exactly like the original - every detail.  The thicker rope on the pillows is the same width as another Vintage 60s pillow i brought as an example.
1940s slipper chair to match the 1960s chaise.  it was reupholstered like the original:  floral on the seat and front, the bottom front and the back was a solid color.
every room that has this furniture in my house is now just beautiful.  THANKS!  Frank and his team are an extremely talented group.  You can see how busy they are when you see how many peices of furniture they have in the front of the shop.

    Gotcha Covered Window Fashions
It was all amazing - the ordering (with Pam, excellent AND fun AND an expert in what she does!); the installation (with Chris (I think) and Victor) I think) who were amazingly fast , courteous, professional.  And, it took a shorter time than expected to install!  Quality product at a reasonable price working with exactly the sort of people you'd want to - who could ask for more?

    Swifty Blinds
The Swifty Blinds repairman (Dustin) arrived about when expected after calling to say he was on his way. He quickly determined the problem with the pull cord on our blind and was able to fix it right away. Dustin was friendly and courteous and willing to answer my questions well beyond expectations.  He even offered advice on operating blinds in another location, and fixed a problem about blinds in yet another location that we raised during our conversation - without additional charge. Really pleased with the work he did in all respects.

    Nationwide Floor & Window Coverings
Charles was very helpful when providing the estimate. He had very good suggestions on the type, style and colors that could be used. After the initial estimate I had a number of questions and he was very quick to respond and help me with my final choice. The blinds arrived on time and the installer was on time and very professional. We are very happy with the final product and would not hesitate to use Nationwide again. We highly recommend them!

    Chicago Shadeworks
I worked with Mike to review and select window treatment options shortly after I replaced several large windows in my condo. Mike brought several options and we selected Hunter Douglas duette cellular shades that would help with room darkening and privacy. He was happy to coordinate with me and come over for measurements the same day the new windows were being installed. (Mike was flexible with his time that day when window installation took longer than expected.). He got measurements and took the extra step of putting up temporary shades so that the window installers didn't have to reinstall the old blinds. My new shade order arrived quickly and Mike installed in about an hour. I love the new shades, and Mike was great. Will work with him in the future.

    Eurosonic Blind Cleaning
I had a problem with the original contractor who was supposed to install the blinds, so I was was looking for someone who will just do the installation.
They were very nice, very professional, they did a clean work and cleaned up afterwards. They have adjusted the length of the blinds rails although it wasn't part of their "job description" (they have charged for it, but that's fair), and overall were very nice and did a very good job.

    North Shore Shutters
I dealt with Bill Conron throughout the process, and he was a true professional.  He responded to all of my calls within minutes and bent over backwards to accommodate my schedule.  The shutters were being installed in a newly constructed space, so we didn't have existing window treatments.  Bill provided and hung paper shades at all the windows to give us privacy while we waited for the shutters to be produced. The shower shutters were tricky because they needed to be mounted onto a tiled surface, had to withstand water and steam, and yet are visible to the entire master bath.  The final product is beautiful - the wooden shutters look great, and the shower shutters match perfectly - you would never know that they are PVC.  I also like the fact that all of their shutters are made locally.  Excellent service and great quality overall.  Their prices aren't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.
