    Toriumi, Dr. Dean
At the first consultation, he showed me with software what my nose would look like after surgery. This image was a surprisingly accurate representation of the actual result. He narrowed the nasal bones, which were too wide after the injury, and supported the tip to give my nose added projection (an improvement that was unrelated to the injury). Prior to the surgery, I was worried that I would end up with a nose-jobby tiny upturned button nose, since that's the image I associated with "worked on" noses. I have strong features, and a cute snub nose wouldn't suit me. He assured me that he would take a conservative approach. It's now slightly over two weeks post-surgery, and I'm already thrilled with the result. I almost wish I'd broken my nose and found him ten years ago! My nose looks natural; no one would know I've had a rhinoplasty. It's narrower and a bit more upturned at the tip, but there's nothing snub about it. It's correctly proportioned for my face. I'd had sinus surgery before but never a rhinoplasty, so I gather that my nose was relatively simple for him, since he specializes in "revisions." His fee was $3100 (it would have been higher if he'd needed rib cartilage, but he needed only ear cartilage), the surgical center's fee was another c. $3000, and my insurance paid for the rest. His staff (Pat) explained billing to me at the first visit, and the bill was exactly as represented to me. He's not a chatty person but he's forthright and he was patient when I brought my husband in for an appointment before the surgery so that my husband could question him about the process. In sum, Dr. Toriumi does an amazing job -- he's an artist.
